  1. This is why I only ever deal face-to-face with instruments, even when I’m selling. It makes buying/selling harder, but at least both parties get to see and try the instrument first of all. There was one instance last year, I was selling a bass, the buyer was going to collect it from my friend’s house; he was buying an instrument from him too. It all went wrong owing to the courier dropping my instrument off later than he should. So I ended up having to pay for two lots of delivery, once to my friend's house, and then back from there to me.
  2. I’m not familiar with this interface. Has it got switchable inputs, line level and instrument level?
  3. Try using an amp sim, there’s lots to choose from in Logic Pro. You can select from a whole range of amp models and cab configurations. Is the signal light on the interface lightning up when you play?
  4. Are you using an amp sim plugin in your DAW? What DAW are you using by the way?
  5. Anthony Jackson is a monster 6 string player, he’s credited with inventing it. Steve Lawson too is amazing. John Myung is brilliant in more of a progressive metal vein.
  6. That seems to be a problem with most people who like it 😁
  7. Used just a couple of times. Bought new in May this year.
  8. It depends entirely on what you do. I mostly play solo, so for me 24 frets.
  9. Up. I’ve been using this over the last few days, recording tracks for an upcoming solo album. It’s incredibly responsive, and so easy to play.
  10. I should maybe have inserted the word ‘relatively’ 😁
  11. It happened to me a few years ago, I’d joined them, they were a jazz outfit doing lots of well paid gigs. I’d just started my MMus, which took up more time up than I’d envisaged. I had told the guy before I joined that I was going to start it. They didn’t rehearse; no real need to, we were playing from lead sheets. Then a new guitarist joined and wanted to rehearse, which is when things went wrong, I couldn’t spare the time. They admitted the guy that took over from me was nowhere near is good, that didn’t really make it any better. I enjoyed playing with them, and I lost a source of income. it has happened to friends too, and it’s happened to other musicians in bands that I’ve been part of. It’s partly why in the end I stopped being an actual member of a band, and just did dep gigs. I couldn’t stand it, I’m very much a loner, it used to really annoy me when people would try and embroil me in the inter-band politics. The last thing I was a part of was actually really good, it was more of a collective, three bassists, one doubled on guitar too, two drummers, a couple of sax players, two keyboard players, two vocalists. It was organised so that everyone got an equal share of the gigs, not every gig needed a vocalist; we were playing jazz, it worked really well, they were great musicians and really nice people. I was the youngest by about 30 years, maybe that’s why it worked so well, them being more mature?
  12. That’s what I like about them. I can pretty much stay in one position on the fretboard.
  13. They would deal with any import charges and hassle too, not that it applies at the moment from Europe, but further afield it’s worth thinking about.
  14. I’ve heard before about health issues, we’ve been quite lucky. The only thing she suffers from is anxiety, something we didn’t know cats could suffer from. I have to admit, we didn’t really do our homework. My mom had always wanted a Siamese, so we bought her as a 12 week old kitten, that’s almost 12 years ago. We very soon realised that they’re totally different to other cats 😆. You can have a conversation with her, you’ve no idea what she’s saying of course, though I’m not sure she doesn’t know what you’re saying back. She has to know everything that you’re doing, otherwise she sulks.
  15. Happy Christmas. They’re incredible instruments. I remember playing them at Bass Direct when they first opened, I decided there and then that I wanted one. If I sell this then I’ll get another, this time a 6 string with an ebony fretboard. Apart from that, identical to this. The 33’’ scale makes playing so easy.
  16. Most things nowadays are built to only last a few years. We’re a very wasteful society. It’s great that musical instruments at least are built with an expectancy that they’ll last a while.
  17. Siamese are well known for their vocalisation. She’s got a whole range of different sounds, from subtle meows to very loud and piercing shrieks. These vary in loudness and shrillness depending on her mood and general disposition. She’s a very loving and affectionate cat, quite unlike a normal cat, she’s also though very demanding of attention. She’d gone to sleep in the airing cupboard because my nephews had come over, she doesn’t like children.
  18. I was waiting for that one 😆
  19. I had planned on spending the day recording for my new solo bass album. Someone else has other ideas 😂. She was fast asleep in the airing cupboard, then she woke up. I could hear her howling for attention; Siamese cats are anything but quiet. She came in, jumped up, howled at me, just in case I hadn’t heard her in the bathroom or on the landing, then settled down to go back to sleep.
