  1. I honestly haven’t the slightest idea what you’re talking about 😂.
  2. I had one of these, I’d say it was one of the best instruments I’ve owned. I wonder if this is my old one?
  3. Excellent. I always think it’s better to have done something, than to be able to look back twenty or so years later and wish that you’d done it.
  4. Anthony Jackson and John Patitucci both use a very high action on their instruments. I was watching a video by Janek Gwizdala recently, explaining his switch to using a high action.
  5. It’s not just a bass stand though is it? It’s a work of art, fabulous.
  6. If you don’t like it, then don’t watch it. Quite simple really. I remember a similar thread on here a few years ago, someone criticised the magnificent Dave Swift for ‘not moving around enough’. Then going on to say he personally would have been dancing about all over the place, bum notes and all.
  7. This is why I only ever deal face-to-face with instruments, even when I’m selling. It makes buying/selling harder, but at least both parties get to see and try the instrument first of all. There was one instance last year, I was selling a bass, the buyer was going to collect it from my friend’s house; he was buying an instrument from him too. It all went wrong owing to the courier dropping my instrument off later than he should. So I ended up having to pay for two lots of delivery, once to my friend's house, and then back from there to me.
  8. I’m not familiar with this interface. Has it got switchable inputs, line level and instrument level?
  9. Try using an amp sim, there’s lots to choose from in Logic Pro. You can select from a whole range of amp models and cab configurations. Is the signal light on the interface lightning up when you play?
  10. Are you using an amp sim plugin in your DAW? What DAW are you using by the way?
  11. Anthony Jackson is a monster 6 string player, he’s credited with inventing it. Steve Lawson too is amazing. John Myung is brilliant in more of a progressive metal vein.
  12. Sound is where it’s at, at least for me.
  13. When it doesn’t make me fall asleep?
  14. It was yes, I bought it from there in April or May.
  15. That seems to be a problem with most people who like it 😁
  16. Used just a couple of times. Bought new in May this year.
  17. It depends entirely on what you do. I mostly play solo, so for me 24 frets.
  18. Up. I’ve been using this over the last few days, recording tracks for an upcoming solo album. It’s incredibly responsive, and so easy to play.
  19. I should maybe have inserted the word ‘relatively’ 😁
  20. It happened to me a few years ago, I’d joined them, they were a jazz outfit doing lots of well paid gigs. I’d just started my MMus, which took up more time up than I’d envisaged. I had told the guy before I joined that I was going to start it. They didn’t rehearse; no real need to, we were playing from lead sheets. Then a new guitarist joined and wanted to rehearse, which is when things went wrong, I couldn’t spare the time. They admitted the guy that took over from me was nowhere near is good, that didn’t really make it any better. I enjoyed playing with them, and I lost a source of income. it has happened to friends too, and it’s happened to other musicians in bands that I’ve been part of. It’s partly why in the end I stopped being an actual member of a band, and just did dep gigs. I couldn’t stand it, I’m very much a loner, it used to really annoy me when people would try and embroil me in the inter-band politics. The last thing I was a part of was actually really good, it was more of a collective, three bassists, one doubled on guitar too, two drummers, a couple of sax players, two keyboard players, two vocalists. It was organised so that everyone got an equal share of the gigs, not every gig needed a vocalist; we were playing jazz, it worked really well, they were great musicians and really nice people. I was the youngest by about 30 years, maybe that’s why it worked so well, them being more mature?
  21. Lovely!
  22. That’s what I like about them. I can pretty much stay in one position on the fretboard.
  23. They would deal with any import charges and hassle too, not that it applies at the moment from Europe, but further afield it’s worth thinking about.
