  1. The 5 string I’m selling seems incredibly light to me, it’s 9lbs, with a chambered body. I don’t see how you’d get one lighter.
  2. This. I like the concept of anti-commercialism, and love the Prokofiev excerpt.
  3. I’ve never heard the song until just now. I haven’t a bass or guitar to hand, I’m sat bored on a train. It sounds to me from YouTube at least, like the chords are a C a Bb and an Ab. The bass is playing 8th notes following the roots notes of the chords.
  4. They must be at least as old as my parents 😁
  5. When everyone’s gone home, then I’ll come down from my studio and have something to eat 😊.
  6. Where do you live? I totally agree, I wouldn’t buy an instrument untried or unseen.
  7. There’s absolutely no way I’d do the gig.
  8. That was my original intention, he was bending over to pick something up, so I thought why not?
  9. I don’t think we need worry until 2020. I believe from what people have told me, that you have to include everything you’re taking. If you have merchandise, then you’ll need to make a declaration, VAT is payable up front. You’ll probably also need a work permit. None of this is necessary at the moment though. Customs won’t know either. I started a thread on this a while ago in the off topic section. It wasn’t closed which is good, you need to know these things if you play abroad.
  10. I’ve written a letter before now, and posted it through the guitarist’s letter box.
  11. Steve Lawson asked this on Facebook a few days ago. This was my suggestion.
  12. Did updating the firmware work? I know Logic had an update recently, it can upset things if the DAW or OS aren’t matched to the hardware’s firmware. I’ve got an Elektron Digitone synth that I use via an app and USB into Logic. The app for that is still in beta, and won’t work at all with the latest Mac OS, so I haven’t been able to upgrade to it.
  13. I agree, I think it does, as do a lot of things. I encourage students to concentrate on one rhythm at a time, and keep playing that until you can just play it without thinking. If you actually look at a written out parts, you’ll see the same groups or phrases repeated. If you’ve got the Motown book, look through that and you’ll see what I mean. Don’t try and learn too many rhythmic groupings at once, take your time.
  14. Do you need to use an interface with a midi in?
  15. You only really need to count when you’re starting off. Once the ‘feel’ of the rhythm becomes a part of you, once you understand it, then you wouldn’t need to. When a child is learning to read the words in a book, they break the words down, into smaller words or syllables. Reading music is very similar.
  16. I was recommended that many years ago. It is an excellent book.
  17. The SKB case is good, just incase you have to check the instrument in.
  18. I’ve never played that, it sounds like a D repeated over and over.
