  1. Just an observation, feel free to ignore me. I think what you’re doing is brilliant, it’s obviously taken a lot of time and effort. I do think though that a brief welcome or introduction would make the site a lot better. Just something so that visitors landing there know who you are, what you’re doing etc. It’s all very anonymous, you want people to sign up and register, but they don’t know anything about you. Perhaps also something so they can see what’s available? Like I say, I seriously think it’s great what you’re doing, and good luck with the site, and your studies; I presume from your posts you’re studying music?
  2. Would antiperspirant work on hands?
  3. A Facebook friend of mine has started this channel. She really knows her stuff with regard to effects pedals, she also creates some really lovely music. https://m.youtube.com/user/buildingcastlegirl/videos
  4. Or what’s the stuff that gymnasts use when they’re swinging about on those bars?
  5. It’s there the whole time I’m playing. Harmonisation is probably the most important thing.
  6. I hate it. Try using talcum power on your hands.
  7. I hope he washed his hands before getting back in the car.
  8. I’d recommend doing the opposite to what others are suggesting, be yourself. You surely don’t want to look back and think “god, what on earth am I doing?”. Be yourself, relax and enjoy. You'll be with friends anyway. You’ll soon get used to it. After a very short while you won’t even notice they’re there. I have autism and dislike a whole raft of things, one of which is being photographed or filmed, it’s something I’ve had to endure a few times. The last time was a year ago when I did a public talk at a local gallery that was featuring my music in an exhibition. I didn’t mind the talk, I’ve done lectures before, it was the thought of it being filmed and photographed that put me off. To be honest, after a few minutes I forgot the cameras were there, the same as happened a few times, at gigs and events I’ve played at. You need to be you though, so you’ll hopefully want to watch it again, rather than being embarrassed by some pseudo-persona that you’ve adopted.
  9. You can get turmeric capsules from Amazon. When I was an undergrad I was practicing up to 14 hours a day, I made sure I took plenty of breaks, even if it’s just for a few minutes. Keep hydrated too, that’s really important.
  10. Note for note, though after a few bars of a song you know where it’s going anyway, you soon pick up the harmonic structure etc. I’ve transcribed a lot of jazz too, not just bass but piano and sax etc.
  11. There are charities that use them. https://theguitarwrist.co.uk/ Janek Gwizdala set this one up: https://adomedia.co.uk/who-needs-strings-we-do/ Another one here: https://www.secondstringsproject.org/
  12. There’s one by Bach that’s pretty good, his cello pieces. I’m not sure it’s got tab though.
  13. Phone them, and speak to someone fairly high up. With airlines I think you can speak to five different people and be told five different things. Ultimately it’s down to whoever you see on the day. Is it possible or affordable to buy a seat for your instrument?
  14. I think it all depends on who you’re flying with. I can say one thing based on my experience, someone something else based on theirs. It’s best to look at the flights, then contact someone at a fairly high level at the airline.
  15. Little nephew/niece/son/daughter/brother/sister with sticky fingers?
  16. They’re readily available in all different lengths from Amazon.
  17. That’s how I know about my friend going. I like Hendrix, I used to be really into him a few years back. I was talking to him the one day, and mentioned I’d just bought live at the Isle of Wight, my jaw just dropped when he nonchalantly replied, “oh I was there”.
  18. I know a guy who went to the Isle of Wight festival. He was only 13 or 14, his parents went mad, he travelled on his own from Birmingham.
  19. I wouldn’t say their later albums were bad, they were possibly patchy, but I think they had more good songs than not so good songs. The problem is I think, Automatic for the people set the bar ludicrously high for any subsequent album.
  20. Didn’t they write for other artists too?
  21. That’s my point, what one person considers to be a great band, causes someone else to leap across the room to hit the off switch on the radio.
  22. Shouldn’t the title of this thread be ‘what’s your favourite Rush album?’. These things are all very subjective.
  23. They’re my favourite. I do like the last couple too. I suspect they’re one of those bands, where you like the albums best that were your introduction to them; Roll the bones was my introduction. I really love the live album ‘A show of hands’ too.
  24. My dad’s just watching the bee gees on TV. No, music is no worse now than it’s ever been.
