  1. It depends why you use them? If you play covers, were the effects used on the original version of the songs?
  2. Just use the monitors, maybe use an amp sim in whatever DAW you use.
  3. You’re supposed to use a tracked means of delivery. The Gumtree scam works because they’re collecting it in person.
  4. They could use a hacked PayPal account. My advice is whenever selling via Gumtree, only ever use cash on collection. They come, they try it, inspect it, pay cash and leave. Always have someone else in the house with you too.
  5. How British are they though? Does the British built bass or amp have any non-British components?
  6. I’ve had the same email, we regularly get phone calls from Microsoft telling me my MacBook has a virus. I find it shocking really that people do fool for these scams. I find it annoying that Microsoft can make such rubbish software, users having to constantly pay for updated anti-virus and malware software is ridiculous. How can it be that an operating system will just automatically open and download something? I bought a plugin to use in Reaper earlier, I was warned twice by my MacBook that it’s dangerous to download apps from sites other than the App Store, I also had to enter my password.
  7. It’s practice I think.
  8. Their customer service yes. I do buy from shops, they mostly tend to be great at selling you something, but don’t want to know when it goes wrong. I bought some Genelec monitors from a shop called Musicmatters, who I think are in Manchester. One developed a fault after just a few weeks. I emailed them and they arranged to have it returned, not to replace, but to repair. I explained that I couldn’t be without it, I needed it for my PhD work, I had a composition to hand in. Their reply was well you should have a spare set!
  9. The best music shops I've encountered are Thomann and Bass Direct.
  10. I like Amazon. I bought some DMs in January. They split yesterday, I emailed them and within 5 minutes they refunded me and sent me a return voucher.
  11. Sip it though, drinking too much in one go is what makes you need to pee.
  12. For me it’s not how fit I need to be for my band, but for life really. Your health is the most important thing you have. You can be rich, have a huge house and a garage full of cars, but it means nothing unless you’re healthy enough to enjoy it. If you’re overweight, unfit, drink too much, smoke, then do something about it.
  13. They closed a fantastic venue in Bristol down last year. It had been there for years, they did up the Georgian houses around it, people moved in, and then complained.
  14. I don’t know if it’s a sign I’m getting old, or I should get out more, but apart from hip hop I have no idea what any of those are 😆
  15. They’re out of the return period unfortunately, you get 30 days. It’s annoying because they’re brilliant sounding headphones, the detail is great, and one of the reasons I bought them.

Genelec, the small ones are lovely.
  17. These are about three months old, they’ve had about thirty minutes use in that time, if that. I bought them because I tend to work late at night, and was disturbing my niece who’s room is next to my studio. These are are ‘open back’ type headphones, she complained she could still hear me. I’ve reverted to using my ‘closed back’ headphones that I’ve had for many a year. These are in absolutely mint condition. They come with all the original packaging, all cables, basically everything they came with. The price includes next day special delivery, so fully tracked and insured. The technical details copied and pasted from Amazon, which is where they were bought: Sennheiser is shaping the Future of Audio – a vision built on a 70-year history of innovation and a continued drive for excellence that is woven into our company’s DNA and culture. 18. I guess because they’re already playing and making music? They’re probably struggling with aspects, but manage to get by. Golf is a spontaneous and very public kind of thing, you hit the little ball with the stick and it’s meant to fly toward the hole, you’re being watched by other people and look silly if it actually flies toward some posh guy’s Merc. With playing bass or guitar you can have the luxury of spending hours and hours sitting in your room learning something note-for-note, before going out and playing it in front of people. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with this approach, if music is your hobby then you should enjoy it.
  19. Thanks. It’s got a hipshot bridge on anyway, I’ll see if they do a straight replacement for it.
  20. I used to have a really lovely old Yamaha TRB6P, which as the P suggests, had a piezo pickup as well as normal magnetic pickups. I’m interested in having one fitted to my W&T Chronos bass. Can anyone suggest something suitable please?
  21. You could download a trial of Melodyne, see if that will do it.
  22. I use a lot of chords yes, also harmonics. I only play solo stuff though. It doesn’t take too long to get familiar tbh, it forces you to listen a lot deeper to what you’re playing. Yesterday I switched back to D, G, B, D, A, which is one I love. This is just an improvisation in D, G, B, D, A:
  23. An absolute bargain, sign me up. I promise not to mention that I thought he was dead.
