  1. I never use it, and will never use it. If I want to listen to a particular artist then I’ll buy their music, preferably from them direct or via Bandcamp.
  2. I read an interview with Sting. He said that he could be playing a cricket bat (might have been baseball bat) with strings attached, once it goes through the pa no one would notice anyway.
  3. UPS, DPD, Parcelforce. Just make sure it’s extremely well wrapped; in a case not a gig bag, metres of bubble wrap around that, then a good strong box, put polystyrene or something soft and giveable at each end too. Definitely make sure it’s fully insured.
  4. It’s interesting and got me smiling. If I do a show on bass then the whole audience will be watching me and would certainly notice if I wasn’t there, as I tend to play solo shows now 😁. To be totally honest I don’t think the average person really takes any notice of anyone in a band except for the singer or the drummer. I did the most bizarre gig about 7 years ago. I was booked to play a New Year’s Eve gig at a club in Leicester. I asked if it was a reading gig or did he want me to learn a set; his reply was a bit odd “neither just turn up”. Anyway I kept in touch with him, a week or so beforehand I asked if he wanted a rehearsal, to which he said no, don’t worry, this is the easiest gig you’ll ever have to do. Come the night I arrive and introduce myself, the drummer is setting up an electric kit, I unload my gear and set up. As we’re about to soundcheck he comes up and turns my volume right down, and signals me and the drummer to follow him backstage. There he let’s us into the secret. He usually plays as a duo with his wife using prerecorded tracks, the venue didn’t want that they wanted a band, we were just there to make up the numbers, essentially miming to the tracks. Nobody at all noticed.
  5. I really like Genesis, though I’m not keen on tribute bands.
  6. Just the Charlie Parker omnibook left now. £10 includes postage.
  7. Have you seen the acoustic guitar? https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Wide-neck-Epiphone-Legacy-acoustic-with-strat-pickup-12-to-6-string-conversion/192674847202?hash=item2cdc50d9e2:g:Rj4AAOSwkRha5ZmB He's got all the strings going to tuners on one side of the headstock.
  8. Try reaper, you can just keep evaluating it. You'll need an interface too.
  9. I’ve bought lots from them. The last thing I bought was on a Sunday evening and it arrived on the Wednesday.
  10. It’s a mobile number on google, a little odd for a shop.
  11. Check out his other stuff. He’s an amazingly talented musician. He tends to play a 4 string Zon in piccolo tuning.
  12. True. Also with this the valves stand proud on the top of the device.
  13. The problem is that a lot of the sorting and delivery process is automated. They’re also dealing with tens of thousands of items a day, it’s not practical to separate the fragile items and sort them separately. I’m not defending them, merely pointing out that a fragile sticker won’t protect the item, that’s entirely down to the packaging.
  14. Not helpful I guess, but as has already been said, the valves should have been removed a packed securely and separately. I’m surprised that Royal Mail haven’t said that, or maybe they will. Fragile stickers and tape are a great idea, I’m sure as much as possible the staff probably do take note, but a lot of the sorting process; especially for smaller items is automated, conveyer belts etc and scanners that read the bar coded labels.
  15. I love proper printed books. I’ve got quite a few PDF’s of text books that people have generously given me, I can get into them though, a proper printed book is totally different though, I can just sit, read and become absorbed in it.
  16. I don’t know if they have it in France, there’s a programme over here called the repair shop. There was one of those things in that photo on the other week. They got it all repaired and refurbished for the lady who owned it, she was crying when she first heard it working again.
  17. That is seriously awful. My cat was sitting on my lap, her ears pricked up and she ran off.
  18. I’ve noticed it’s cheaper to buy the cd too. I get a lot of my music from Bandcamp where you buy the physical product and a download, but you can stream too from the Bandcamp app.
