Pearce preamp on ebay right now: Pearce preamp with Sheehan mods .... peace c
2. the new It Bites album is well good, a defo return to form even without Dunnery. Dick Nolan was playing with some other prog type band but can't remember who....not much help eh?! peace c
3. very nice and very carl thompson indeed!
4. i've lived in my house for about 10 years and never make any noise, keeping myself to myself. If i play bass at home its either acoustic or with headphones and always has been. One time though i'd got a new bass amp and as i had a gig coming up i thought i'd best just set it up and quickly give it a try. Literally within about 2 minutes I had a neighbour from the road behind my house banging on the door telling me to turn it down. Its like they were waiting for an opportunity to complain! Some people have nothing better to do i guess. peace c
5. yeah good pics, first one is best but would photoshop out that card/rectangle thing near your head as it draws the eye and theres no other ones at the top there peace c
6. yeah is quite nice to hear a bit of fretless in a 'rock' band situation - that Blue Murder album is quite good ... but a song titled 'Sex Child'?.... haha..ouch!! couple of his solo tracks on his myspace are pretty good too peace c
7.
How about some vintage reverse machine heads too Clive?
..dunno about that! - got them on my reliced jazz and they confuse me every time!! cheers c
8.
take the yamaha decal off and replace it with smaller discreet yamaha waterfall effect with the yamaha logo at end. would look real cool! andy
yeah was thinking of doing more of an Attitude MK1 logo on the end maybe but minus the tuning forks circle logo. hmmm..... c
9. well i've tried other basses but can't help but keep goinig back to the trusty old Yamaha Attitudes but as I'm sure some of you will agree they don't fit in to some band situations visually because of their 80's/90's widdly widdly look. So...I have hatched a plan to (at some point, laziness + money permitting!) to refinish one in a more traditional/retro kinda stylee... so far i've got as far as mocking one up in photoshop, but i reckon it could look kinda good - aged white body, tort pickguard and chrome finish humbucker at the neck..... thoughts/comments?.... peace c
10.
Billy & Eric can't stand each other so it must be the cash (& the love of their crazy Japanese fans) that has made this possible...
you can see from this later video that billy isn't a happy man compared to his normal self - when he is actually shown that is! i believe they wanted to do a Japanese tour without Billy some time ago but none of the promoters were up for it unless he was back in the band. yeah i saw mr big just after their first album came out - at Norwich Waterfront of all places! - unfortunately i can't remember a great deal about it though due to a tad too much drink on the night in question! peace c
11. just stumbled upon this guy's little solo bass piece - quite nice i thought... peace c
12. I watched this when it was on TV a while back - and it did open my eyes to Beck's playing quite alot as I'm another one who normally associates him with Hi Ho Silver Lining! Back to Tal though - am I the only one who found the constantly smug look on her face annoying? peace c
13. OK don't really want to sell these but am super skint right now and they don't get used often enough. Both in excellent condition and come with PSUs and box/manual (pending a rummage round the loft!) [s]Boss RC20XL - £120 posted[/s] SOLD Akai Unibass - £90 posted Can take some pics if needs be but a quick google will tell you all about them. Cheque, paypal or cash on collection is fine by me. PM me for any more info. peace c
14.
, maybe you have an attitude that makes you a less desirable proposition than musicians that do make money..
+1 (at least based on the posts in this topic....)
15. i say again........ these internet based paid sessions sound good - any recommended sites etc to get hooked up with people? peace c
16. hmmm these internet based paid sessions sound good - any recommended sites etc to get hooked up with people? peace c
17. hmmm, interesting - cheers!! - though why do i have no money to buy one?!! peace c
18. so.... we seem to be doing more and more old Deep Purple songs and I do some of the keyboard parts on bass which got me thinking about whether there was a pedal in existence that emulates a kinda Hammond organ sound? i've been checking out some bass synth pedals but they're not really the kind of sound i'm after.... any thoughts, pointers, ideas? peace c
19. ^ yeah VST instruments work fine! all very odd, seems that if i import a midi file straight in i get no audio BUT if i create an empty midi track first and THEN import the midi file in everything is fine and dandy despite the created midi track having nothing to do with all the imported ones. how queer! anyways - sorted - cheers.. peace c
20. hmm - i don't delve into cubase too often but have started meddling again lately, recording audio etc is fine - however, there seems to be something up wit de midi! i've imported a midi file of a song and all the tracks/parts etc are there but when i hit play i'm not getting any sound. the meter is registering that somethings playing and yes! my speakers are on! i'm guessing its something to do with the midi settings/bank/output.... any help on this?!... if i spark up a vst instrument that works fine.. ta in advance c
21. whoa! you're in the Quireboys!!!? how cool is that?! excellent band peace c
22. i only caught the last five minutes of this, but i'm guessing with it being sky arts it'll be repeated some time soon. Think there is/was a thread somewhere for underated bass players, but yes, the man bronze was doing sterling work on his old beaten up P bass. peace c
23. you don't see people slapping etc on that kind of bass too often though Jonas Hellborg springs to mind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KOEsQbK-MA and if thats what you want to do you could always work at it and it'd give you a recognisable sound of your own. peace c
24. few in my part of East Anglia.... www.brewery-tap.com used to be a very good venue, not as good these days but still ok with big stage and in house pa/engineer and has alot of tribute bands including 'heartbreaker' a paul rodgers tribute. ipswich railway has tribute bands most fri/sat nights - though there are some tales of the management being complete gits - having said that i believe its being taken over by someone new soon. www.thebrickmakers.com/ one of the main venues in Norwich, has tribute bands on quite often - good stage, pa, lights etc but difficult to get in with 'cliquey' band booker! lady of the lake - good large pub venue with stage, lights but no inhouse pa - has all kinds of bands peace c
25. cool, used to listen to this quite alot along with chill c
