3. caught this on sky arts the other night, pretty nice version of 'left of center' stripped down to just bass and vocals. peace c
4. can i just say that i'm pleasantly surprised that most people seem to have acknowledged that the guy actually is very good without the usual nitpicking!! think i read in his bio or somewhere that he uses piccolo bass strings tuned to A (could be wrong was a few days ago and my brain aches!) peace c
5.
Cynical reply warning..... You get your highly experienced studio engineer to make it sound like that on the recording using expensive digital software. I don't mean to be a miserable git (well no more than usual) but what you are listening to is a hell of a lot more involved that the bass player and "his gear". I'll shut up now.....
i'd have thought the symphony x stuff was in the era before digital software? they've been around for donkeys haven't they? peace c
6. this is quite good, as are his other videos peace c
7. the BB is just over 500 notes i think and the Attitudes will probably weigh in at maybe 900 ish peace c
8.
Oh gosh .. how can you play Tears in heaven like that if you know what the song is about?
yeah, it kind of loses it a bit doesn't it! i read somewhere recently too that Jeff Berlin also refuses to use electronic tuners and always tunes by ear. All well and good of course, but this, along with some of his other notions, makes it seem like he's just so set in his ways and insistant on doing things 'his' way purely for the sake of it now. peace c
9. Not much difference between the MK2 and MK3 version really - mainly the new colour scheme 'lava red' and black humbucker cover, different headstock logo and also all the electronics are 'silver soldered' which apparently is better and used in high end audio equipment. peace c
10. New attitude looking very nice with black pickups.... http://www.basses.yamaha-europe.com/newbass.php hmmm........black or red, black or red...... peace c
11. man..thats a sweeeet looking bass!! bah..curse you recent redundancy!!! c
12.
Most of The beatles. Never understood their appeal.
agreed!! c
13. yeah theres another post on this somewhere - no clinics near me though, bah. peace c
14. woah! that lomenzo bb bass is VERY sweet indeed!!! i want!!! peace c
15. don't think it so much the hipshot that causes the neck dive - more like the general hefty neck, theres alot of wood there!, i've got other basses with hipshots on that don't suffer from dive at all. The sheehan signature strings i found to be quite nasty as the E is fatter than normal and the G is thinner than normal so doesn't make for very even feel IMO. peace c
16. ah see?!.... my post above mentioned both the neck dive issue and the getting used to wider flatter neck issue!! both of which you WILL get used to ( a decent strap helps the neck dive). These really are good basses and are built to survive pretty much anything. Just had my LTD 1 sorted for a new volume pot so she's well and truly back in action now!! i always use elites strings on mine - sound fine to me! peace c
17. quality song - heres me playing it!! haha, how bored were we?!! peace c
18. Billy Sheehan Interview quite good, long video interview plus details on the new Attitude range etc... peace c
19.
Sorry for stirring up this old thread... Someone pointed me to one of these as I said I like the sound of pickups near the neck end, (as I don't get on with Stingrays and don't slap) he told me these sound very loud and great for finger players, is that true? Just curious about these basses and have a few questions: 1, How many models are there? 2, Do any have a Jazz profile neck 1.5" nut width? 3, What sort of price do they come in at 2nd hand? ta
I've got 2 - very good basses....the mid-priced Attitude Special has pretty much a Jazz profile neck, the LTD 1's & 2's are MUCH wider and flatter and if you're used to a Jazz profile will take some getting used to. They do suffer from slight neck dive though nothing a decent wide strap won't cure. anyone know when the MKIII is due out?.... peace c
20. i don't mind it, me. think there is an option to turn the tunes off somewhere.... peace c
21.
An interesting experiment would be to post the recording of the guitar riff on here and see what everyone else would put to it.
sounds like a plan i reckon......
22. you should check out Richard Cheese and Lounge Against the Machine for some quality loung versions of alt/rock songs peace c
23. hmmm while Jeff Berlin does always come across as a bit of a tool (and his version of 'tears in heaven' is one of the worst, misguided interpretations of any song ever, turning it into a twee, mario theme-esque twiddle as he does!) i think he does have some valid points - especially the two hands together thing. peace c
