1. i like the fact that the round pickups look like little smiley faces!! ...or is that just me....? .....hmmmmm peace c
2. i went a year or so back having got tickets in advance, but most people did seem to be paying on the door with no problem. I've not got a ticket this year myself so..... peace c
3. yep ed's stuff is always very good peace c
4.
Sorry I can't be arsed
+1 on the above! but may have a go if bored one day - which is likely!! peace c
5. yeah i sometimes find it hard to find the time for learning songs. its not something i've really bothered with much before as always done original stuff, but having to learn 'x' amount of songs per week can be a pain and because you 'have' to do it becomes a chore sometimes. I tend to break it down into chunks... give them a rough listen/run through one night and then tighten up on any specific runs etc later. The most annoying thing is when you make the time and take the trouble to learn songs only to turn up at the rehearsal to find one member of the band hasn't bothered at all. Usual excuse being 'i didn't have the time' - Tough! I didn't have the time either, but you have to MAKE time. grrrrr...annoys me it does!!!! peace c
6. yeah some nice links there bigredx - a few in there i've not come across before. Don't forget also local to me: Guyton Guitars - not too much in the way of basses on his site as yet (in fact just one!) but his guitars are very good indeed. If and when i go the custom route i'll probably head his way. peace c
7. i've had basses before that only had side markers - no problems with it all - although it can confuse guitarists when they're trying to figure out something you're playing by watching your left hand!! peace c
8. THIS ANY GOOD? GARY WILLIS 105 edited on request of OP!! peace c
9. yeah very good price - and he sells other sizes too 6u, 8u etc... though none of the others seem to have a BIN on them. peace c
10. i spotted that the other day - what is going on with the neck bolts?! peace c
11. i'm going down on the saturday - definitely going to be checking out billy and i think paul gilberts on too though i'm guessing not at the same time...! peace c
12. think Fender are doing a 'classic' range now too - i believe a MIM jazz with block inlays has just come out in the states...quite nice.....hmmmmm again!! peace c
13. nice one - i know my local guitar shop is getting one of these BBs in at some point but i dunno - personally i'm still not sure about them! pink with maple fingerboard like Billy's old one and i'd say yes! - will be interesting to see what he's playing at the London Guitar Show next week.... interesting also that the new Attitude in the background there has black pups on a white pickguard - in the other shots i've seen they've had black pups on black pickguard........ hmmmmm peace c
14. not sure if these have been mentioned before but i just stumbled across them - the jazz and 50s P particularly tasty: Squier 60's type Jazz bass 50's style P bass - i want one of these!! 60's precision peace c
15.
Hey, can you tell me the brand of the strap you are using? I'm having some trouble with my Fender P bass and can't find the right strap that helps with the neck diving. Thanks!
the strap i'm using is handmade - my old guitarist had a few of them made up by some local leathercraft sort of place. cheers c
16. my attitude ltd 1 is pretty neck heavy but i use a 4" wide leather strap which is rough on the underside so pretty grippy so it doesn't bother me too much. peace c
17. apparently, (i think it was on talkbass) this isn't the first sighting of one of these though which would suggest a factory run at some point? always fancied a kubicki....hmmmmmm peace c
18. not come across one of these before: http://cgi.ebay.de/Bass-Collection-Ex-Fact...1QQcmdZViewItem looks quite good in a way!! peace c
19. the 'normal' attitudes have a J pickup at the bridge: pic never tried one but i kinda like em - they also did one of those with a single MM pickup too which is very nice. Pity they never did them with a maple fingerboard mind you. peace c
20. yeah - in a rock band context the Attitude does take some beating - walks all over my Precision. peace c
21. having recently ventured into the world of fretless myself i'd say definitely go for it - i got a s/h mex Jazz lined fretless for about £200 and its pretty good. peace c
22.
Have you heard 'No Quarter'? Seriously, tho'. I have written elsewhere of why I think people get into more sophisticated genres. You just get bored with the predictability of simpler music forms. I still have a soft spot for HM but it is based on nostalgia and the genre holds few surprises for me, especially bass-wise.
have to agree with that - i realised it the other night when going through my ipod to put a pre-gig playlist together for LIVE n' LOUD - i've actually got very little rock/metal on there - its been overthrown by various other types of music! anyways - my first band were Phoenix (original name there!), circa ooooh very early 80's - i'd actually only been playing a few months when i was put forward by my bass teacher who also kinda managed the band (we were all around 13 yrs old at the time) - did quite a few gigs round and about the Southwold area doing covers of Blondie and The Police kinda stuff before me and the guitarist wanted to rock a bit more so started another band the mighty Aces High!!! He of course later went on to much bigger and better things the swine!!! peace c
23. personally i thank that last mr big album with Kotzen is very good - as is alot of Kotzens solo stuff. You can tell Billys not feeling it though by this video!! Mr Big - Shine - definitely not his usual self in the few shots there are of him!!! peace c
24. don't suppose you fancy selling me just the tort pickguard and the pickup cover do you? PM if you do! i'd probably have the lot if you were nearer or would post though. cheers c
