hmmm link doesn't seem to work for me, but i do recall there was a Spear bass on ebay quite recently, a red stained wood almost singlecut kind of affair which was pretty nice looking for the price. peace c
Just spoke to Bernie and he confirmed that he built this in his shed in 83/84 or something like that. The Goodfellow bridge was added later. This was before he became a full time luthier and it was just a hobby. It was originally built for Mark Pinto. It should be passive and have Kent Armstrong pickups in it (assuming it hasn't been modified since being built).
yeah my old singer was in a band with bernie a few years back and he vaguely quizzed him about it. by the time i got it it was active, and had a battery compartment in the back, the cover of which had some electronics company name on it but can't think what it was. the volume knob was push/pull for active on or off. i picked the bass up s/h in a small guitar shop in norwich. it came in one of those now sought after Wal lozenge cases too! peace c

that guitarist who 'doesn't trust them' sounds like a bit of a tool to be honest! its not like its the dark ages - use the facilities! i've got a korg rack one - mainly because it looks cool with the moving light!! peace c

http://www.londoninternationalmusicshow.com/lgslive.html might have to get my lazy self down there for the day - Billy Sheehan doing 1 hr live slot, and also Paul Gilbert later on (guitar i know but....) I've not been for a few years anyhoo, though think i'll take ear plugs this time as all the constant widdling as you wander around the exhibition can seriously hurt your brain after a while!!! peace c

Warning, Severe Jazz Bass GAS Inducing Link Contained Within
3V17C replied to kevbass's topic in eBay - Weird and Wonderful
that is a nice bass - theres an ebay shop in switzerland i think with one too, and he also has a CAR one and a white one both with matching headstock. the white one is serisously sweet!!! peace c -
i'd stick with it - the Corts are nice basses and i would imagine good to learn on. Despite it being active and having lots of 'bells and whistles' none of that should really interfere with you learning to play. peace c
Do you mean this one?
ah no - that was the 2nd of my GB's i stoopidly got rid of!!! give it me back!!! go on! go on! and yep geddysnose my other one was the mark pinto one. peace c

well its defo an early goodfellow and if you got it fdr the price of a used squire thats a bargain! the body shape is the same as my old 001 with the bump out of the bottom and two strap buttons. mine had the same 'G' logo but not the writing underneath. here she be...when last seen for sale in a shop somewhere! doh - big mistake getting rid of that! peace c

so i've recently had a few jams with a (ex name and old friend) guitarist and a drummer with a view to getting a Van Halen tribute band up and running. We've banged through a few songs (not all the obvious easy ones!) and its pretty clear that musically we can pull it off no problem. But...while its good fun and enjoyable to play i'm not entirely sure that i want to persue it. I'm really in two minds over this one! I'm already in one rock covers band and normally if i have two bands, at least one has to be original stuff. Plus I don't get alot of spare time to learn the songs as I've got lots of other stuff on the go (art as well as music). But my main concern is that finding a suitable singer/frontman is going to be a looooong, hard process, especially in this neck of the woods. It took my other band about 18 months to get a singer and even then we had to settle on someone a bit less experienced than we'd have liked. I'm also not entirely sure just how popular a VH tribute band would be - they were always really a much bigger, more popular band in the US than over here. ho hum....... goes off to ponder.... peace c

yeah i've seen some of his videos before and wondered how and why on earth he started playing like that? surely he's just making it awkward for himself? i like the jack socket coming out of the top of that Spector rather than being in the usual place! peace c
-
yeah Lydia's clips are all pretty cool peace c

yay! purple! - we do a few of their tracks and they're pretty good to play - old Glover used to chuck some nice little bits in from time to time - next one we're learning is Burn but i think i may have to insist on the Mr Big version complete with bass solo! 'lights, camel, action'! Stump used to rule! - and they've had a slight resurgance in the last couple of weeks thanks to mr heston's demise!! apparently they have a best of album coming out this year too. probably not the longest CD in the world but seeing as i only ever had them on tape it may be worth a look..... or indeed a listen! peace c

Celebrity Gear - once used by the famous
3V17C replied to Born 2B Mild's topic in General Discussion
My ampeg SVP-BSP preamp (which i've just sold ) was used/signed by Billy Sheehan. peace c -
surfing thru the TV channels last night I came across an hour long documentary about John Entwhistle on the Biography channel (sky 156?). Only caught the last half of it, and not a major Who fan but being bass related was quite interesting. Lots of footage of him in his house playing his basses and being interviewed by Gordon Giltrap (i think) and all i would imagine filmed quite shortly before his demise. I'm sure it'll be repeated so worth keeping an eye out for. peace c
