1. what a f***in foul mouthed bastard! Great tone by the way!
2. You can't go wrong with ibanez guitars because they have lovely fast necks and a good modern sound for metal, second hand sounds the way to go mate
3. He replied to me yesterday and my cab is apparently just waiting on a couple of parts, so heres hopin!
4. Now THIS is a nice vintage Strat! http://youtu.be/fxWi_FPa9Qw
5. I personally think that Strat is overdone. It looks mingin! I reckon if you want to get an old looking guitar without putting it through years of "abuse", why not just buy a relic'd body from ebay? Theres loads going cheap enough
6. We call ourselves acid house metal fusion thrash country and so far it hasnt stopped us getting gigs
7. Last word I don't need all these experts telling me playing technique , I made a humorous remark about the amount of so called experts on you tube but you have obviously taken offence as its you who posted the experts videos
8.
That young whippersnapper is not "telling" you anything. He is merely giving advice, (constructive, IMO) based on his experience, on the safest method to play the bass. I get pissed off with ( I dont know your age) know-it-all whippersnappers, who think they are so expert themselves, that they are above constructive advice. As far as "if it hurts...change you technique" is concerned, that is indeed good advice. The only problem with the likes of CTS and RSI is that it can take years for the pain to manifest itself. So it may not hurt now, but if a person continues to play in a certain manner, he greatly increases his chances of injury problems at a later time. If someone does develop either of these injuries, it can take a long time to heal. Better to heed good advice and avoid all the pain and hassle.
Yeah well you watch whatever vids on you tube you want and Ill just do it my way. I have been playing long enough to know whats gonna hurt and whats not. if you feel the need to be taught by that young guy, go for it
9. I never really thought about my "floating thumb" technique, it just comes natural to me I suppose. I get quite pissed off with young whippersnappers telling me how to hold my guitar right enough (bottom vid) Why are there so many folk on youtube who feel that they are experts at telling everyone how to do things? Personally, I found that if it hurt me, I would change my technique, and its evolved from there
10.
I saw an osteopath about similar problems. They said they couldn't really help me - that I have wirsts too thin for my tendons. They did give me some exercises to do to help strengthen my wrist, which is supposed to help. Hold a heavy tin and rock it back and forth so you keep flexing your wrist. No idea if this is applicable to your problems but it sounds like a similar thing
I know a good wrist exercise, but I think the filter would not allow me to let you in on my technique
11. Agreed!
12.
You MUST watch this though:
What a delightful sound 'e got there!
13.
It sounds like a tweak of the truss rod is required one way or the other (depending on where the buzz is)
what! on all ma basses?
14.

I want to slit my wrists after watching that! What a waste of 8 minutes of my life!
15. I always think my action is too high, but if I bring it down , I get fret buzz, so I just leave it . Every time I see anyone else's, theirs is always quite high too.
16. The new finishes on basses dont wear out , thats why the OP wants to "hurry up" the process. Nitro cellulose cracks and peels with age but modern finishes tend to only chip, which is not quite so " cool" looking
17. that must be one of the shortest threads ever!
18. Wet and dry sandpaper (wet of course) gently rubbed on the edges, will produce a similar effect as that produced by years of rubbing with fabric
19. that sounds like a superb gig. How come so many big names were there?
20.
I know Steve Harris had a couple of the off the shelf fender sig models as backups on the British lion tour earlier this year. I know it's a tweaked p bass, but, ignoring the scribble on the back of the headstock, it has to be THE best p bass I have ever played.
But what is the difference, if any, between this and an American std P bass?
21. I always wanted one when I was a basslet but could never afford one. I think to be honest,it was the lights and flashy green was what was calling me. Finally, I had enough and was down looking for one when the boy in the shop said why not try this Ashdown combo? Boy, I am glad I went for that. Nowadays I tend to think of TE's as 80's bling that never really had the balls to back it up. Go for an Ashdown or an Ampeg if you want a killer sound
22. It tends to be noticed when you are playing loudly on your own but in a band situation will clear up. String noise is not a bad thing anyway. I have heard many pieces of music where the string noise is left in
23.
Which shop did the crappy amp thing? Just so I know where to avoid! Guitar Guitar in Glasgow were great when I was trying out FX. Asked what bass I played, what amp I played and got testing on equipment which was close. Almost ended up badly when I almost walked with the bass, head and cab! Would have bankrupt myself
+ 10 to that, very helpfull staff as are the staff at CC Music
24. I would always tune up a guitar before playing it. I would not expect it to be tuned, because most shops have loads of guitars hanging. To check every one , every so often would be un feasable in the extreme. I was in guitar guitar in Glasgow a few weeks back and tried a Tele. There was a big ding out of the top, plus I noticed a few other guitars had bad dings and thats all down to heavy handed f***ers playing them. Even the Tele that I dedcided on, when brought home, was noticed heavy scratch plate useage. Much to my chagrin
25. Nope sorry. I do have software that I bought that can slow down music that you want to learn. Its an amazing tool called surprisingly.........the amazing slowdowner. Its available for download from the web for about 35 quid
