The MB Nano was a smart choice. Great bang for the buck. I have a similar configuration in my favorite small amp head, Gallien Krueger MB200. I've always felt the two were almost like cousins in the tone department. Anyway, the GK MB200 has the same tone knobs and with my active EQ on my Ibanez I'm totally satisfied with tone control. These tone controls look almost identical with my GK MB200. Except you have more power and the luxury of a gain and master control.

As others already mentioned, be sure your cabs' efficiency are very similar so you don't blow any speakers. I almost would discourage using different models. Is it possible for you to get another PF cab? That would be a good match. However, getting a second SVT cab should work fine. I'm just a bit anal about matching equipment, especially speakers.

Agree 100%. Classic rock is 70's-80's. Everyone should know the hits--they hear them everywhere--from the grocery store to streaming music at work by office workers. I work in a government agency and I know a couple 20 something ladies that are crazy excited about seeing Def Leppard in Seattle this fall. They listen to 80's constantly.

John Paul Jones had a similar model in Led Zeppelin. As far as QA, I've read quite a few positive reviews. I've always loved the Mustang bass, but Fender won't build a lefty. So Eastwood came out with this one, which is close enough for me. If I'm so inclined, down the road, I might put a Mustang or P bass pickup in it if I buy one. A couple points of interest. First Talkbass is still down. Second, my image of well-mannered Brits has been blasted to smithereens. But then again, I should have known better--home of the Sex Pistols and all. Also I detect a lot of passive aggressive energy in this thread. Is it to me or Americans in general? I am offended by that picture. This is about bass camaraderie, not about the ugly, perverted side of society. For the most part I am always impressed with English civility and proper manners.

Yes, they announced that there was a fire in the server complex, and they're working on restoring the equipment and it should be up and running "in a couple days."

This is the finest bass I've owned regardless of price. The neck is a bit thicker than the less expensive SR's but it sure is rock solid. There is something very addictive about the tone this thing gets. Crisp highs, growly mids, and thumpy bottoms. I love the tone, and I even leave most of the controls flat, both pickups fully open. It really kicks booty on my other five Ibanez basses. I just ordered the Nordstrand Big Singles from Amazon and will be placing it on my second favorite, my SR500L. They're that good. I recommend you try one out or buy one. You won't be disappointed.

Congrats on your new bass. I have that same model. It used to be my number one for gigging but was bumped by my Ibanez SR1200L VNF with Nordstrand pickups. Just today I sent for a pair of Nordy's for my second in line-- an SR500 with two Bartolini pickups. I've really developed a taste for the Nordy's. They have a nice mid growl, thumpy bottom, and a crispness I love. I'm probably going to sell my SR300EL in May so I can buy an SR300EL Weathered Black version. Same bass, just a 3 dimensional wooden semi-flat black finish. I've been craving one since they came out a couple years ago. However, if they weren't available I'd gladly keep my SR300EL. Great bass!

Here's my SR1200L VNF Premium I bought last Christmas from the UK. So from the UK to Alaska USA then the pic back to the UK LOL!

I own the MB200, Ampeg PF-350, and the SVT210av. I also own 2 x Eden EX110's. On the MB200, it sounds very loud with the SVT210. Initially it's louder or more efficient than the PF-350. And that's practice. It just seems that the MB200 has more oomph out of the gate. But down the road, if I buy a second SVT210 that might change because the PF-350 will be producing 350 watts instead of 200 from the MB200. The three are great amps. I love the portability and tone of the MB200. But it does seem push hard on midrange. The Ampeg PF-350 has to have the pre at 12:00 and the master at about 11:00 to equal the MB200 at 8:00. Many years ago I played Ampeg and for some reason they fell out of favor with me. I've grown back to liking the tone of Ampeg. But I'm not entirely sure it will cut through the mix like the GK MB series. Also, the PF-350 weighs as much as an MB200 and MB500 combined. I don't have any experience with the SVT-CL yet but I would like to try it. I've been told by acquaintances at Talkbass that the SVT micro sounds good but falls short of power compared to the PF-350. However, it does capture that SVT sound at a lower volume, while the PF-350 has been compared more to the SVT-3 Pro. Tough choices folks. All three are great amps.

Sadly, if the band is making inroads to better gigs the sooner the better, before it becomes intolerable. If the friend is a real friend they'll understand. Hopefully you can maintain that friendship after the gig if the reason was he was too busy. It sounds heartless but business is heartless. The weak bands won't get the gigs. Strong bands with good players will always be first.

I was able to emulate slap using a fingernail technique but never needed to slap. Today if I come across a vid on YouTube and see that blasted thumb come out on the E string I'm gone on the A train. And why does every slap solo always have to be in the key of E? End of rant, sorry.

While I've talked with people there that seem to be nice, some of the longer term members feel some sort of right to post snarky comments about what you're selling, and even get snarky about your opinions. I don't buy $5,000 basses and don't feel a need to brag about my worth or status as a musician. Yeah, you'll find a lot of high end basses for a lot of money. But try to sell one there? Just wait for the bitchy comments to roll in. A $400 bass you'd like to get maybe $200 plus shipping-- you'll get nastygrams asking why you're 'ripping off' on the price. eBay is really no better, there are so many scoundrels there that eBay has to have strong rules to contain all the scammers, and it's actually worked against me. Recently I placed a bid on a bass and as I pulled the trigger I had buyer's remorse. I immediately selected "cancel transaction" and was kindly informed that eBay will do everything possible to cancel. Well, guess what-- they did nothing. So now I have a bass coming to me that I properly cancelled and some woman from India informed me in pig English that I'll have to do the whole return thing and pay for shipping back. So most places are a crap shoot at best. Hard to beat in person sales. Does Thomann sell used? They seem to have a sterling reputation. Good luck with your hunts.
