Vox 3002 Custom bass Following info taken from here... http://www.voxshowro...gs/1982_p4.html Japanese (Aria / Matsumoku) made Honey polyester finish 34 inch scale length, 24 fret 2 octave neck Extra wide through body neck design Full specification DiMarzio P Bass and J Bass pickups Guitar constructed entirely from hard rock maple Mode switch selecting series/parallel or coil tap on both pickups simultaneously Three way pickup selector, tone and volume controls Deluxe bass bridge and tail piece assembly Nut width: 38mm I bought this bass s/h in the mid 90s as I fancied a PJ-style bass, but after the initial excitement had worn off it's just lurked in its case under the bed while I followed a more traditional P and J path! It's in reasonable condition, although the headstock is rather battered around the edges. There's what appears to be a crack in the neck near the nut, but it doesn't seem to have got any worse over the 20 or so years I've owned it so I suspect it may just be in the lacquer. One of the selector switches was broken off when I bought it, and the other had lost its plastic tip - I never got round to sorting either problem. Strung with what I suspect are Fender nickel rounds as these were my preferred string at the time I bought it. Weight 10.75 lbs. Hiscox Liteflite hard-case included. More info and pics of similar basses can be found here... http://pulvoweb.chez...avox/mavox.html http://pulvoweb.chez.../mavox/vox.html Sorry, UK only, payment by cash or bank transfer, and no trades as I need to cull the herd prior to moving house / downsizing. I'd prefer the buyer to collect, though I should also be able to meet up / deliver within a reasonable distance of Blackpool.

Price or Trade Value: REDUCED TO £125.00 Squier Vintage Modified '70s Jazz Bass Maple body, maple C-shape neck, maple fingerboard, 20 frets, 2 "Duncan Designed" Single-Coil Jazz Bass Pickups, black pickguard, scale: 864mm (34"), nut width: 38mm, radius: 241mm (9.5"), colour: Natural. I bought this bass new in late 2007 / early 2008, and it's in pretty much as-new condition (in fact it's only been out of the house once, and that was to Karlfer's to test an amp I was buying off him). Nicely-matched two-piece body, very resonant, strung with TI JF344 flats. Minor cosmetic changes comprise a Wilkinson bridge with brass saddles, black plastic top-hat control knobs (original knurled metal knobs will be included as well), and a maple Guy Lewis tug-bar. Weight 9.75 lbs. Stagg gig-bag included. Sorry, UK only, payment by cash or bank transfer, and no trades as I need to cull the herd prior to moving house / downsizing. I'd prefer the buyer to collect, though I should also be able to meet up / deliver within a reasonable distance of Blackpool. Do the big name acts make cock-ups like us mortals?

Primal Scream doing "Country Girl" at the 6 Music Festival. Starts off OK at 58mins in, then all goes horribly wrong at about 58:30 when the bass and keys come in. Cue lots of confused / amused looks back and forth across the stage, but they plough on regardless and eventually sort things out (drop capo one fret by the looks of it) during the clap-along bit. Afterwards Bobby G describes it as the "the Sonic Youth tuning...... avant-rock"... Sky Valley Mistress at their sold-out "Hell Ain't Got Your Hound" single launch at Gullivers in Manklechester on Saturday. Great young band, hopefully destined for bigger things!

I come on here pretty much every day, but very rarely sign in unless there's a thread I feel the need to comment on. Guess I'm predominantly a lurker...

Better dig out "Rising" and "On Stage" and give 'em some...

Probably not the best, possibly the worst, definitely summat a bit different from Preston's be-masked bass marauders, Evil Blizzard...

Don't think this one's been posted yet, check it out before it gets dropped! https://www.facebook...?type=3

"The Fender Bass - An Illustrated History" suggests it should be a block / transition logo, with either 4 or 5 (from the end of 1964) patent numbers underneath it. There's an example on this page here... http://www2.fender.com/experience/guitarchive/the-precision-bass-in-the-1960s/

The mighty Eureka Machines doing a shakedown gig for their current tour, great band and lovely chaps to boot. The next gigs will be my Other Half's daughter's band, The Bara Bara Band, this coming Friday in Lancaster, then a "Battle of the Bands" thing in Preston next week featuring Sky Valley Mistress, who as their debut ep states are "the best thing you've never heard".
Hang on, 4 basses ? Is that Evil Blizzard?
Yep, it is - hadn't spotted Filthy Dirty on here before! As for short-scale basses, there's a new kid on the (short-scale) block - lefties will be available to order apparently... http://www.shortscalebass.co.uk/ Not me / no affiliation etc.

How many basses have you bought off the Basschat marketplace?
tony_m replied to Highfox's topic in Bass Guitars
Just the one bass (Squier CV60's P), but also a couple of combos, a cab, a tuner, a drive pedal, a set of pickups, a case and a scratchplate. -
If the two campaigns by Eureka Machines I've pledged on are anything to go by, it can work stunningly well, as they've smashed through the 100% mark on each in hours and gone on to hit 526% and 392% of target in total. I guess it probably helps that they've got a pretty fanatical fanbase!

Just relieved Gareth of a minty green scratchplate for my Squier CV60s P. In perfect / as new condition (still got it's placky film on), great comms throughout, solidly wrapped / stickered to stop postie bending it and sent securely asap after the holiday weekend. An all round top-notch transaction, highly recommended!

And now the ultimate accolade, an RB tribute band courtesy of our local serial-band-former Hector... http://www.gigwise.c...10Q7VA.facebook

If your taste is for "classic" / NWOBHM-style metal, then Ascalon might just fit the bill. Here's a description I've nicked from a live review... Preston based Ascalon take the stage next and they’ve brought a good following with them. Old school heavy metal in the vein of Iron Maiden is the order of the day here but with a modern thrashier twist. They deliver it well and inject a good bit of humour along with their catchy melodies. Clearly having fun, the band run through their set, bantering with the fans and coming across as genuinely nice people. It’s infectious and they go down a storm. Special kudos goes to the guitarist with the broken arm. It’s the perfect warm up for tonight’s headliners and after their set closes they join the rest of the crowd to enjoy…… (the headliners) Here's a vid from that same gig.. https://www.youtube....eature=youtu.be And yes, that is a Fender Musicmaster the bass player's using - sounded pretty darn good when I saw them supporting Evil Blizzard last year. Don't think they're on iTunes, but they do have a Bandcamp page... https://ascalon.bandcamp.com/releases And here they are on FB... https://www.facebook.com/Ascalonmetal

I can confirm that the Strat set alight by Graham Oliver at Nottingham in 1983 was a Squier rather than the Fender he used the rest of the time, 'cos me and my mate, accompanied by a roadie, were dispatched to Carlsboro Music in Leicester to collect the poor thing for him before the show. https://www.youtube....h?v=wY-lyxqHzNM 37:14 I guess these days it'd probably be regarded as a "vintage classic" rather than a cheap sacrificial substitute......

Another top quality obbm instrument cable added to the gear box, a pleasure to deal with Dave as always!

Absolutely gorgeous! Think that has to be my all-time favourite model and look for a Jazz - I'm still kicking myself for not grabbing a CIJ / MIJ lookalike that came up for sale on here about the time I joined...
