The sound he has at the beginning of the clip is pretty much exactly how I think of LowEnds sounding based on review stuff I've read I did wonder about the T-Bird as a gospel bass, lol. I've got a bit of a 'blues corridor' trip coming up, could be dangerous - Nashville, Memphis, Clarksdale, Vicksburg, New Orleans. Will probably add some more stops in the delta before we hit NO The Gibson factory tour is on the list, luckily I don't like their basses very much!
Did a similar trip with a couple of mates about 15 years ago now. We all loved Nashville and Memphis, Clarksdale and Vicksburg were *interesting*, while N'awlins was sadly just like Blackpool, but with better food. We still chuckle about a few things that happened, like the lass serving in the Wendy's (IIRC) in Clarksdale who asked whether we were a band, bless 'er - unfortunately my mate told her it would be a very sad band if it had us in it, so we didn't get to sign any autographs (or get free burgers ). In the parking lot outside, we then got accosted by a couple of folks who, after checking the plates on the hire car, proudly declared "Ah, North Carolina, we thought we recognised the accent!". So, North Carolinians obviously speak broad Lankyshire... Finally in Vicksburg, can't remember the name of the bar, but they served the biggest, hottest, most awesomest Buffalo Wings I have ever eaten. Oh, and when a spot of trouble broke out in the parking lot, the barmaid reached under the bar and brought out what definitely appeared to us to be a genuine Luger pistol. Things quietened down pretty quickly... Have a great time!!!

Not my usual sort of thing, but enjoyable all the same. Good effort, and good luck!

Tried, but as I don't do Facebook it looks like I probably failed. Good luck anyway!!!
Unlikely Tony , it's probably going to cost a bit more than I can afford! Nice to hear from you, look after yourself, cheers, Karl.
Shame... You take care too, and all being well I'll see you for a natter in May! Tony

So, can I look forward to seeing / hearing one of these at the Old Bank in May, Karl? (And before you ask, no, the MAG 300 still isn't getting the use it deserves... )

Lovely stuff BurritoBass, thanks for posting.

Just booked to see him in Kendal on Feb 25th - if I remember, I'll report back afterwards!

I think these days he mainly plays guitar or bass (acoustic) when in Black Sheep mode... or electric bass when in Brain Donor mode... That's when he's not standing around in the countryside being all Archdrude-ish... Above pic from Head Heritage, lots more Copetastic stuff to be found there if you're of a mind...
Also I was was looking at the video that Fender made for the bass: http://www.fender.com/products/60th-pbass/...?prodNo=0196002 In the background during two of the shots was a seafoam or sherwood green slab bodied precision bass hung on the wall. Why on earth didn't they release that as the anniversary bass? I would have sold the wife in a shot to buy that.
The green one also appears to be able to morph from righty to lefty at will going by your screen caps!!!

Same as various other folk, I always picked up on and followed the bassline of tunes I heard on the radio or wherever. After a fruitless dabble with acoustic guitar at night-school, I eventually decided to take the plunge and bought my first bass (a Tanglewood P-copy) about 16 years ago. Used to jam with a mate from work who played guitar, but then other stuff got in the way and although I've never actually been without a bass, they just sat around in their gigbags gathering dust for a few years. Then a couple of years ago, a combination of redundancy / early retirement and a change in family circumstances flicked the switch again, I acquired a couple of Squiers (which TBH I didn't really need, already having a couple of Jap Fenders, but hey... ) and a couple of decent amps, and am now playing more than ever before. It's never going to be more than a hobby for me, but I do enjoy losing myself for a couple of hours in my (admittedly quite small, but slowly increasing) repertoire of basslines.
Good group of pics. I didn't realise they were crafted in China these days, mine wasn't.
Going by the serial number, it appears to date from 1999, which makes it significantly older than my 2007 Indonesian jobbie - looks like the US might have got a version of the '70s VMJ earlier and from a different source than we did over this side of the Pond? Edited to add: According to the specs on the Squier website, the '70s VMJ was introduced 7/2006.

Postie arrived this morning bearing the Boss TU-2 tuner I bought from Andy. I can only echo what Kev says - nice straightforward deal, great communications, well packaged and working perfectly, great guy to deal with.

Battle of the Squier Jazzes: Classic Vibe vs Vintage Modified?
tony_m replied to lanark's topic in Bass Guitars
I have just been in to Dawsons Chester. Their price for a classic vibe Jazz is now £379!. Glad i bought mine in the spring for £280. Though even then, those "in the know" were predicting that Fender would have to increase the price of this guitar, as too many were buying them and declaring them as good as if not better than the mexico Fenders. In fact i read this in every bass forum i went to, to research it before buying. ps: Their Squier James Johnston Jazz Bass was £389! has the entire range gone up ?
Yikes! Reidys are still offering the CVJ at £269 on-line / £279 in-store, which if memory serves was what I paid when I got mine from them last year. They've also got the VMJ at £227.99 on-line / £249.00 in-store. Think mine was just over £200 back in January 2008. -
what a beauty!
Thanks! She's a bit tatty here and there, is rather on the heavy side, and sounds like farting into a trashcan (© Dusty Hill), but I don't think I'll ever part with her.
