1. Here's me having an extended holiday a frustratingly long way away from my basses, not that I'd be able to do a lot with 'em anyhow...
2. 7 basses, still got 6... Tanglewood P-copy (gone) Fender Musicmaster Fender CIJ '51 Precision RI Fender MIJ '60s Jazz RI Vox Custom Bass (an impulse purchase umpteen years ago which now stays firmly locked in its case so it doesn't frighten the others) Squier VMJ Squier CV '60s Jazz 4 amps, still got 2... Kustom 30W keyboard amp (gone) Marshall BassState 30 (gone) Laney Linebacker 30 Trace BLX-80 Really must try harder...
3. 1994, Tanglewood P-copy and a 30W Kustom keyboard amp, can't remember how much. Both long gone now...
4. Yep, blocks and binding are painted on my 2007 VMJ.
5.
I am in town tomorrow so i will ask them. just wondered if anyone here had actually done a price match with Dawsons. ? also does anyone know what strings they come with as stock ?
According to the Squier site, they come with Fender Super Bass 7250ML, NPS, 45-100, but based on the multi-coloured ends there's a theory going around that they actually come with D'Addarios of a similar guage. Whatever they are, they're definitely rounds!!!
6. Don't think anybody else has posted about this yet. I'm also not sure whether it should be in Gear Porn... http://blog.hardrock.com/post/2010/03/19/F...he-Low-End.aspx The writer has also been nattering away over on TalkBass, promising more to come... 7. Think I managed to crack What's The Frequency Kenneth and Losing My Religion (REM) at about the same time, with One of Us (Joan Osborne) not too far behind.
8.
Oh, playing in a band is something else... The sense of satisfaction is like nothing i'd ever felt before! Go for it!
Don't worry, I'll announce it on here if and when I take that great leap forward!!!
9.
I'd never noticed you where from blackpool! Do you play at all locally? This could be the making of a mini bass bash!
No, I'm just a "hobbyist" playing for his own enjoyment at home. There again, whenever I see a band playing in the Hop for example, it always gets me thinking "Hmm, why not... ", so you never know.
10. And 'ey up back from another Blackpudlian. Haven't seen you guys play anywhere, but I'll keep my eyes open.
11. The Real McKenzies - Loch'd & Loaded Nice quiet bit of punk-ceilidh...
12.
This has been posted on here before, but I think it deserves it's own thread. One of these chaps is a font of knowledge on all things Fender. The other is called Leo. Oh, aye.. forgot to mention that one of them is one of BC's own.
"And that knob's for remotely turning your guitarist down again..."
13. That's awful news, condolences to his family and friends.
14. Very nice indeed, same as mine only yours appears to be in better nick!
15. Eeee, I do love a happy ending... :sobs: Looks amazing, a real piece of history. Congratulations, sir.
16. MIJ '51P RI, CIJ '60s RI Jazz, Squier VMJ, and Squier '60s CV Jazz all sat up straight and proper like, '78 Musicmaster taking it easy (well, she is the oldest by a few years... ).
17.
An update on the pickgaurd from highlystrung. Ordered it at 3pm and it arrived at 10am this morning. Good service but will it fit? Almost spot on is the answer, just one screw hole slightly out. Looks really good, as good as the more expensive ones I have bought in the past and better than paying £44.
Phew... *mops brow*
But, as has been stated earlier, it might not fit all P basses as good as mine. (Jap P 57 reissue). Jez
Indeed. As Bassassin says, they're all different - for example, the scratchplate which fits my CIJ perfectly is an awful fit on my Squier CV '60s, none of screwholes line up and there's a 2mm gap between the scratchplate and the control plate. Then again, I've come across a couple of places who will happily supply various Fender scratchplates off-the-peg, but if you want one for a Squier they need a tracing of the one that's already on there, so it looks like this is a common issue.
18. Highly Strung offer B/W/B at £10.95 or Black Pearl at £19.00 (+ £2.00 P&P on orders under £30). http://www.highlystrung.co.uk/acatalog/Pic...ric_guitar.html FWIW, I got one of their scratchplates for my CIJ Jazz, and all the screwholes etc. lined up perfectly.
19. I got a 3-ply B/W/B from Highly Strung... http://www.highlystrung.co.uk/acatalog/Pic...ric_guitar.html Although it doesn't look like it in the picture, it's the 11-screw version same as the original torty, and fits perfectly.
20.
Me too
Though presumably without the edited bit or the fickleness...
21. As of today, an Oly White '75 Jazz RI. Just like this one... http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?s=&sho...st&p=633926 Edited less than 10 minutes later to add... Or maybe an Oly White Jaguar a la Barry Adamson. I'm so fickle...
22. My personal favourite... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6yTRq_rJg4...feature=related JJ on a Jazz complete with ashtray and pickup cover!
23. Excellent, thanks for the heads-up. Islington Mill here we come!!! (before) (after)
24.
Hiya Tony, I reckoned around £350 to a good home cos I won't need it for anything when the bigger stuff comes! Hope the trek goes ok for you, fingers crossed there's a pub at the top of Snowdonia too
OK, cheers. Like I say, I'll have a ponder over the weekend, but please don't hang on to it on my account if anybody else makes you an acceptable offer. Right, best be off - I'll keep my eyes peeled for that pub...
