8 Rays plus 18 others? Oh my. It's time for a fresh thread of Dave's Porn. I sometimes feel extravagant with 6 basses. This place makes me feel much better.
I will try and get some shots together for you but in the mean time........ 8 Rays 6 Fenders 5 Overwaters 2 Rickenbackers 1 Wal 1 Hohner B2a 1 Hondo 830 Deluxe 1 Tanglewood Violin Bass 1 Squier Precision
I imagine there's at least another 10 non-Rays lurking out of shot too, unless Dave's been on a real selling spree.
at least=18
Never thought I'd hear you say that, Dave, for any value of n.
True, I usually work to n+1.8= Just thinking of spread betting the collection a little better, I seem to go through periods of amassing lots of one instrument, Overwaters, Precisions, Rics and now Rays and after all I keep telling the wife its a pension not a collection................
Mmmm, nice collection indeed! I'm curious as to which one(s) you will NOT be getting rid of....
Thanks but looking to move (I think) the Dargie, the Fretless and the Natural 2 Band 8 rays are too many at the moment.
.....whats the band called? unfortunately having never seen Floyd, 'tributes' are the only way now, i've seen, Australian PF, Pulse, Off the Wall, & Shine On 4 or 5 times each, aren't Shine On bassed in the north east? Waters is so much more than his bass ability, IMHO he does what is necessary with the bass.
It is Shine On and yes they are based in the North East Cheers Dave

Hi Owain, Chris Anderson (promotes head of steam and a few local venues (anyone for tennis)) Adam Cooper, local acoustic musician (check out my facebook) John Egdall, Acoustic musician/promoter facebook but try Ross Lewis's think he may be on mine? Amy Wardley Promotes acoustic nights (Whos mic is it) AGAIN my facebook Theres always the Jumpin Hot Club Promoters from Cluney who do some great international acts who always need support and me and Ross do PAs for, Guy who runs them is called graham, And Thomas Bagnell (ex student) runs bookings at cluney with opportunities as above Good luck Dave

Im just putting one together as I have joined a Floyd tribute. Never really rated Waters until I was learning the sets. Not technically challenging but difficult arrangements with tasty variations and like you say great song writer.
I bought these a couple of years ago to have in a practice room, They are 1x15 plus horn but the horn doesn't work. They are built to a VERY high standard with excellent woodwork making them solid cabs. I sold one to a student who wants to sell so provisionally these are being sold as a pair. I would say as a project as they need painting and the horns sorting but will make cabs that could easily take a 500 watt driver. I have the original ASS badge to go back on the cab too. I will sort out a pic of the other but it looks the same as this. £60 collected from North Tyneside Cheers Dave
BUMP
i agree with that (about Clayton). Tho Clayton ain't the best i think some of his basslines are pretty cool. 'New Years day', Mysterious ways, Bullet the blue sky. also with The Edge tossing it off with all is 'clever guitar bits. He had to keep the bass simple. Like Mike Anthony in Van Halen, he didn't have much choice but to pedal
Might have been mentioned before BUT, WE ALL, without exception have been sh*t when we were learning, it is unfortunately now (or fortunate, depends how you see it), the nature of the music industry that some people have to go through that stage in full public view (Guigsy, Vicious etc) . Combined with short career spans (some not all) they never get the chance to develop into competent musicians. And talent? I think very few have a given ability to play impressively without practice. For the rest of us its pure and simple muscle memory. The more you put in =the "better" you get. your satisfaction and enjoyment Dave
One of my favourite bass solos is by Muzz Skillings on Living Color's "Broken Hearts" - at about 2:10; Jennifer
Fabulous

To be honest I think McCartney is pedestrian at best, His line and playing are function and occasionally extend into mildly interesting, but never inventive or exciting. You could probably argue they are perfectly suited to the songs but that's without any comparison so difficult to argue. I have heard people say "Its what he doesn't play"..........Well anyone can play silence
