4.
Nice Ray Dave!!! I've have now decided that I want at least one brand new Vigier and a Kingbass MkII! Plus I've developed a love of Overwater
You have to many basses, I think you should give me some. Im scared of trying a new Overwater out, I know I would have to order one!
 5. "Hi mate, I know someone who has a very tidy Lake Placid Blue version for sale at £1400, so that might give you some idea of prices. Gorgeous basses btw, just not keen on the walnut finish! Hope this helps, James " Got this from Jamesemt, Cheers mate, Seems a fair price, remember the rarity of the walnut "natural" without burst finish, I think this will prove to be VERY valuable in years to come. ATB Dave
 6. Heres one I owned for a while. Ibanez Musician 1979-80 I think? It was from the first year of production before they changed the model to the 924. Lovely bass, sold it on ebay about 4 years ago. Dave
 7. Alright Alright Im gassing bad Its in good nick with a few dints and laquer chips to the edge of the fingerboard but nothing worse than age related for a 26 year old. Was made for ONE YEAR ONLY, then remodelled into the Elite Precision. Has Active/Passive switch, Bass & Treble boost and cut in active mode and passive tone in passive mode + vol. Gold fender hardware and maple skunk stripe. It comes with the original fender hard shell case, plush lined. 13.
Don't change a thing! MusicMan got this one so right...
I love it, i remember when they came out, standing staring at two of them in Sounds Live in Newcastle, a flame one and a quilt one, I got chased for drooling on the window
 14.
Beautiful. Was this the one on eBay? PS show use the sides and the back. I always loved that Les Paul-esque transition from the top to the back.
Yeah this was off Ebay, based in Middlesborough. Lovely bloke.
 15. My new bass, Its stunning, and a touch yellower than the pics
 16. BUGGER! Just bought a 20th Anniversary You want to swap????
 17.
Sgt. Pepper's is 'unimaginative'? The birth of the concept album, 'unimaginative'?
Surely most pieces of classical music are based upon concepts? The four seasons, 1812 Overture, in fact most operas are based around a common story or thread running through a series of musical pieces? Don't get me wrong Im not a Beatles / McCartney basher, I just don't rate them and think as i originally stated their popularity is mostly nostalgic, and again this is my personal opinion. He is after all no Geddy Lee LOL!
 18.
Groove is not simply being funky. McCartney's timing is so solid and his control of note lengths spot on. The same kind of skill shown by the great country bass players. Alex
Or any sequencer= bad feel????
 19.
The reassuring thing when I hear other bassists write off McCartney as a significant player is it means I can ignore their opinions on anything else because they clearly don't get 'it'. I thus won't try to explain why he matters but will recommend visiting Sgt Pepper for enlightenment. 'It' is not that hidden - the combination of groove, tone, melodic and harmonic ideas is up there with the very best.
Dull and un-inventive album always trotted out by Beatles fans as their primary defence, some decent songs granted but groove???? Jameson spins in his grave with greater feel than McCartney ever play, and i do "get it" I just dont think his playing was historically or currently that good.
IMO, Macca's a great bass player because what he plays brings out the best in the song..
What roots 3rds and 5ths, or 12 bar?
 20.
Yes, we all know it's based on the early 70's telebass. Now stop being a bunch of vultures and let the poor guy sell his bloody bass! I think some of you should delete some of your posts from this thread. Doesn't look very good, does it?
+1! Just been browsing the Introductions section and then this thread, seams like a world of difference to the welcoming camaraderie there and this string And i don't think anyone was under the illusion that they were going to get a 51P for 200 notes????? AND if the bass was more exotic would there have been the berating we've had here?
 21.
Yes, taste is a funny thing.. As far as McCartney goes, I'd much rather have his talent than Zender or Fleas's for example.. He's written some of the best songs of the last 100 years and been a member of the most influential band of all time and you can't do much better than that really!

1.Sir Paul McCartney 2.Mark King 3.Flea
Light blue touch paper and retire! Come on, I admit the Beatles wrote some good songs but lets not get carried away, McCartney is one of the most pedestrian bass players ive had the misfortune to listen to. It seems to me his "rank"amongst bass players is built more on nostalgia and his membership in a famous band than on his ability. I love SLF but would never state that Ali McMordie is the best player. Yes, I know my opinion is worthless etc but come on, you have to admit there is better than him about??? I await the barrage of "but what about choice of notes" etc LOL Dave, tongue firmly pressed in cheek,
 22.
These are the only three i can think of off the top of my head! 1. Geddy Lee-Ali-McMordie-Mike-Rutherford-Jimmy-Johnson-Billy-Gould, 2. John Taylor-Victor-Wooten-Mark-King-Lemmy-Paul-Simonom-Bernard-Edwards, 3. John Entwistle-Les-Clypool-Seggs-Bruce-Thomas. Dave
Forgot MUZZ SKILLINGS!
