1. Looking to sell my 2007 Alembic Brown Bass. These are rare as hen's teeth in Europe - I know as it took me best part of a year to track mine down (I ended up importing it from Australia) - and are effectively an homage to Stanley Clarke's original 1970s Alembic bass. However, after the initial thrill and honeymoon period I am finding I simply prefer to pick up my long scale Jazz bass. The Brown Bass' tiny neck (30.75" scale length and 'Stanley taper' 1.5" nut width) was fun for a while and very different to any thing I had experienced but now - despite my left hand problems (or maybe because of them?) - I prefer my left hand to be a little less cramped. Also, at 9.8 pounds its a tad heavier than is ideal for me. In short its an utter thing of beauty with the most wonderful figured walnut but I don't really want the bass to be a beautiful objet, I want to play it and unfortunately I am just heading straight to my 34" scale Fender Perhaps its just the familiarity of having played this type of bass for 30 years. For full disclosure there is one small dink in the forearm playing area which can be seen in the pics, otherwise wonderful condition. Also the switch for the red LED side dots is quirky - to switch them on you click it down and then pull it back a fraction of a cm (this is not uncommon on Alembics I am told and doesn't bother most people) The bass cost me just over £3k to get into the country and that is about half the new price for those rare occasions when Station Music in Germany gets one in. Comes with a hard case with an Alembic plaque on side (which I assume means its the original). Looking to sell for £3000 plus post. No trades please Pic below. PM me for more. Also here is the eBay ad for the bass in Australia with some pics (I have cleaned up the brass since then and waxed it properly) http://www.ebay.com....57#ht_82wt_1399
2. Thanks gents - I feel a numpty as on close inspection the 'missing' bars are inside the lock (they must have sheared off in transit) I just got them out with tweezers and should be able to superglue them back in place. All is right Garymac, the case contained a Tony Franklin fretless
3. I just got a bass in a G&G hard case and both latches are broken. Annoyingly the missing elements (identical issue on each latch) are not in the shipping box so the seller obviously shipped the case knowing it to be broken. Unfortunately it came from the US so there's no chance of sending it back. Anyone know if this is a possible fix? Cheers Pic here
4. I can confirm this is a stunner of a P bass and I only sold as my damaged left hand couldn't cope with a 1.75" nut width. Highly recommended. Light as a feather, action can go lower than on any other bass I've owned (and I've owned a lot!) and build quality that sets the standards of excellence
5. Next up for us is a headliner at an Americana/folk/acoustic evening called "Before the Gold rush" which takes place at the Fiddlers Elbow in Chalk farm http://www.thefiddle...co.uk/index.php. Think we are onstage about 10pm. Here's the gig listing http://www.thefiddle...uk/gigguide.php Maybe see some of you there?

7. After being robbed of my beloved iPad in Stockholm two weeks ago, I bought a replacement and discovered today that I had (unknowingly) backed up my old one on iCloud and I have regained everything I lost on my new iPad On bass matters, I had a buzzing A string in a set of Pyramid Black Nylon flats on my Jazz bass. I sent Pyramid an email to ask how I could buy a replacement and they sent me a new one gratis from Germany with first-class post. Lovely customer service and my Jazz now plays beautifully
8. I thought this was a response to the new thread today "Lets compare sizes ..."
9. sounds like a good shout to me, Lozz. I left my last band (even though the music was great) when politics, internal griping etc meant the fun had gone

13. Apparently the voting link doesn't work for everyone - here's an alternative if the main one goes wonky http://644512.polldaddy.com/s/spiral-awards-2014 Muchos gracias!

15. Music website Spiral Earth has short listed All The Queens Ravens' 'Hearts for Judas' in the best debut album category Would much appreciate a vote if you think (like L'Oreal) we're worth it Link here: http://www.spiralear...14/nominees.asp And here's a reminderette of what my band is like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0noHL4khCeM
