1.
How is this still here?
But for my dodgy back it wouldn't be and I'd have it back. The best cab I have ever owned in terms of clarity and ability to carry the lows
2. Coolio, I believe we are on first, somewhere around 9-9.15 start time, so we get about 40-45 min set (or thereabouts). Next band (The Jolenes) is on at 10
3. Rio just met me and bought my PJB Briefcase amp. His first deal on BassChat and I am pleased to report that all was good! Enjoy the amp Rio
4. Sold pending payment
5. they look nice to me, especially the traditional colour choices like sea foam green etc. But £1100+ for a Korean made bass? Seems top whack to me and I bet resale prices will be much lower
6. It seems the default option for luthiers dealing with classical double bass is to set it high (I recall being surprised by teh action on a number of basses in Malcom Healey's workshop). There have been polls on TalkBass and if I recall most have their basses set up 8-10mm on E and 6-8mm on G, some lower still (which requires higher tension strings like Spiro Mittels).
7. Pm replied to Still available type bump!
8. Jimmy bought a set of DB strings from me. very friendly and easy transaction, can't wish for more than that!
9. Thats good (although it must have played oddly to a left hander given the camber of the bridge and fingerboard!) For RnR/rockabilly, assuming you are wanting to learn to slap and pizz (rather than arco) then I would concur that Innovation strings are the best value solution. Silver Slaps (or their yellow-coloured cousin Golden Slaps) are gut-alike strings that have very easy low tension and are much cheaper than steels (which would in any case hurt to slap). An alternative would be Presto Nylonwound Lights (from Thomann in Germany) which I personally prefer, but there's not much in it. There are more expensive alternatives (Velvets, real gut strings etc) but I wouldn't even think about those yet.
10. Some great sound samples here - lovely growly sound as Fatback says http://www.hervejeanne.de/saitenmatrix.php
11. Would consider p/x or trade against a DB friendly small cab (Crazy 8, Wizzy etc) or an EA Doubler head or Tecamp Puma 500
12. I've played a couple of covers evenings recently where I haven't really had time to learn all the bass lines note for note. As long as you play something close enough and play all the right roots in the right places, noone will notice, I guarantee it!
13. Hi yes I did but the cab is gone. I have benn offered a box so sm checking whether the BCer who asked about posting the combo is still interested
14. The great deity above invented lightweight bass amps for a reason. You have already voted with your feet for the Fusion. I suspect it's only the cool factor that keeps you thinking of the Burman, and that is not enough of a reason when loading out at midnight after a sweaty gig
15. Some friends of the band run a club known as Bluegrass Staines in errr Staines (did you see what they did there?) We are on the bill next Friday, at 9pm or some time thereafter (there is a bluegrass jam from 7.30 to 9pm first). It's a double bill with us and The Jolenes (all girl bluegrass band). Not sure who is on first? Now we are not a bluegrass band so it should make for a varied evening. Details below http://www.americana-uk.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=15&p=82169&sid=7e794c84af90fd43e97c8390d55baa73
16. Quick google suggets Japanese 1970s brand. There's an ebay sale in Oz for a Yamaha bass and one of these amps that went for £89, so I don't think its worth much. Sorry
17. £100 price drop (last one) to £1800 but would need collecting from London
18. Stil not located a box so its remains local pickup/meet. Oh and bump!
19.
Ah, that's my old bass and it's lovely. I had it with TI flats on and it sounded just like a P bass should. These JV basses really are as good as their reputation suggests.
Agreed my doppelganger JV Precision is a nicer bass all round than the '63 Precision I once owned. The only P bass to rival my JV, that I have played at least, was the Pino and that will set you back a great deal more moolah
20. Skinny Puppy? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Skinny_Puppy
21. Cheers Lozz! Update: in the event I find a suitable box and can post, one BCer has PM'd me and has first dibs. However, right now I do not have packaging so its still available on a pick-up/meet-up basis in London
22. You are too kind Paul and Barrie, cheers!
