1. Hi I bought this beautiful 1994 MIJ bass only last month but my struggles with my damaged left hand continue and the neck is too chunky to be comfortable for me. I thought I could cope with a 1.625" nut width but alas no. The bass is exactly as in AndyBob09's advert here and is in amazing condition - only difference is I have added some Pyramid Gold flat wound strings for retro thump (although I can swap back for nickel rounds if the buyer prefers) http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2280047 I would like to get back the £575 I paid or very close. Can deliver (soft gig bag but cardboard box and loads of packing material) or hand over in London. Sale only; no trades, while I work out which basses I am comfortable to play Here are a couple of Andy's pics from the link above (hope thats OK?) 2. Hey Steve, here is the ebay ad from Oz which has a bunch more pics http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ALEMBIC-stanley-clarke-BROWN-BASS-/161154387667?pt=AU_Audio_CDs&hash=item25858cced3&nma=true&si=jWd8vO2G52qqA2h5wWXmPz6Yt6E%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557#ht_82wt_1399
3. Dave (aka tinyd) just bought a double bass pickup from me. All excellent from start to finish! Recommended
4. Well that told me. I'm off to double check whether my 2012 M&S boxer shorts were actually made that year
5. TBH, I am struggling to give a toss here. Its a lovely old Jazz bass with history written all over it, played by a great bass player and it was made before everything was bar-coded and inter-webbed. So the best we have to go on is the word of the man who has owned it from new.
6.
Yes Clarky you have a beauty there. How is the weight of it working for you? Jazzyvee
It weighs 9.8 pounds which is at the upper end of what I can cope with but is fine. Funnily enough I have no balance or on-strap issues with it, although a number of people had warned about this. A very wide Minotaur strap probably makes all the difference here
7. NBD. A Brown Bass which I imported from a guy in Australia
8. Only surprising not to see Ian Dowie in that line-up Ps, looks like a ridic bargain, Beedster. the bridge and strings make up half or more of your price. Someone have this fast
9. Hi all, we play Spice of Life in Soho on Saturday 11th Jan and The Finsbury (near Finsbury Park) on Thursday 16th Jan. We are headlining each and should be onstage at 10pm at Spice of Life, time tbc at Finsbury. Spice of Life: http://www.spiceoflifesoho.com/pages/find-us Finsbury: http://www.thefinsbury.co.uk/listings/?lm=1
10. BassGear have one on sale at £725 so could get it delivered and try it under 14-day distance selling regs. Plus you know Phil!
11. Phil Jones does combos and cabs with 5" speakers and provides some technical thingummydoobery as to why these carry bass fundamentals so well. Don't understand myself. So you could check out say a PJB Briefcase or Cub for rehearsals or a Flightcase or Superflightcase for gigging?
12. Hi Marc, the big trend on DB is to use small speakers - witness Mike Arnopol and Greenboy's in-vogue Crazy 8 and Crazy 88 cabs and the former's MA-45 (a 4x5" cab, as owned by TheRev on BC and bassace) Looks like mine might be sold to one of the usual suspects
13. I know I shouldn't list this in two fora, but the DB players of BassChat might not spot this otherwise - and its a very DB friendly amp Link here: http://basschat.co.u...71#entry2296271 Apologies mods if this is a bit cheeky
14. My only other suggestion would be to nag BC'er Gareth, who owns Legion's old sunburst TF fretless if i am not mistaken
15. 1 minute's googling to help out a BC pal. I am damn good at googling!

18.
Just going to bump this thread to re-iterate what a bloody good album this is! I've been in danger of overplaying it the last couple of weeks, but several of the songs have been firmly stuck in my head the whole time. Monte Carlo is truly infectious as an earworm, and Joe is still making the hairs on the back of my neck stand up. Bloody good stuff sir, bloody good.
Thanks matey - much appreciated Perhaps see you at a gig in New Year? - we have a couple booked in January (Sat 11th at Spice of Life in Soho, and Thurs 16th at The Finsbury, next to Finsbury Park)
19. I got this new model Minimark 2x8" combo a couple of months ago as a transport-friendly combo for my double bass (weighs just 23 pounds). It sounds great, even though it has limited EQ options (just the MarkBass VLE and VPF filters, which are effectively a treble cut and a mid scoop), and has plenty of volume for smaller gigs and rehearsals at 150W. While you don't need a preamp in front with double bass, I used a Headway EDB-2 as I needed to tame the piezo 'quack' from my Baby Bass' Shadow pickup. Sounds very rich with electric bass (Fender P or J). The combo is in very good condition and has been 'babied', like all my gear. Comes with a protective RoqSolid carry bag I custom ordered (one of the handles has come unstitched and needs supergluing but its perfectly functional). Only putting this up for sale as its not actually much smaller than my MarkBass CMD121P combo (29 pounds), plus the money would come in useful! These are £816 new at all UK retailers, as far as I can see (Sounds Live, Promenade etc) and the RoqSolid bag was another £30-odd. I will do this for £625 posted or £600 hand-over in London. Picture of my actual cab here: http://basschat.co.u...-and-baby-bass/ MarkBass specs page: http://www.markbass....tail.php?id=241 Stock pic:
20.

not heard of this guy before (I did a search on TalkBass in their extensive DB section and there is one tiny thread on him). Very nice clip, Dave. Will have to check out more from him and his band
21. tell you what, as its quite a lot of money for one string, lets call it £25 posted
