1.
What exactly is "Halloween" about it?
IIRC there's something on the interweb about it being special as it was made on Halloween day some years back. Would add a link, but can't be @rsed
2. ... that was fleetingly on sale on BassChat a week back has appeared at the Bass Gallery for an uber-rich £9,900 Bass Gallery say they will price match though, so I might ask them to match the price of Squier 60s P http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_details.cfm?ID=2741&type=Bass%20Guitar
3. Etienne bought a double bass pickup from me. Couldn't have been an easier, more pleasant deal! Recommended ATB Clarky
4.
Clarky
Oi! Boris I can take. Judy Finnegan I will tolerate. But Mike Mansfield is below the belt
5. Whilst waiting for the Anima G, I have put on a Lenzner gut G. Actually sounds really nice and is a good match tension-wise. Only issue is it has imperfections (tiny bumps where twisted) along the length which means it doesn't sound cleanly at various points. However, its a pretty good stand-in
6. On hold until this evening (while tinyd aka Dave) measures the bridge on his DB. If the size is wrong for his bridge, then you're next in line Steve
7.
Hi Clarky, can I register my interest in the Rev Solo if it doesn't sell? cheers
Of course Steve, I'm waiting to hear back from tinyd (who asked for precise measurements of the wooden block casing - for the record, its 4mm thick and 2.5cm x 2.5cm)
8. Thanks Karl, I do find it surprising when Fender CS basses seem to sell more easily on this site for similar amounts ofmoney to 'real McCoy' vintage Fender instruments which will surely depreciate much less (and possibly even appreciate).
9.
Hi Clarky I'm definitely interested in the Rev Solo. PM sent, Cheers
PM replied to
10.
Sorry man. Good luck with the sale. Sorry again.
No worries, its just that keeponehandloose is more likely to read a PM than this thread Anyhow, as stated above, the Bass Max is now gone but the Rev Solo II is still available
11.
Is it a Rev Solo 11?
With respect, why not have this conversation by PM?
12. Bass Max is now sold Rev Solo still available
13. Very sorry to hear of this awful situation. My immediate thought is that basses probably are easier to move on than amps (more aspirational) and that the most valuable bass you aren't determined to keep is your Musicman Bongo HS and the most easily saleable are probably the Squiers, based as they are on classic Fender designs. Those four basses would be first on my list. Best of luck mate, sounds harrowing
14. Here's a review of a KK Baby Bass by BC'er greyparrot (aka Richard Raymond) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IJ7dluS7ZpQ
15. But seriously (he said, hitching his stockings), very cool Chris. I keep thinking about getting a tat (I have five already) of Tom the cat playing double bass
16. How did your tattoo artist find that old picture of me as my alter ego, Clarkella?
17. Hi there, sale only sorry as I have enough pickups!
18. Now that I have settled on the Full Circle on my 3/4 bass and a Shadow SH950 on my Baby Bass (in addition to the diaphragm pickup) my spare piezo pickups are no longer needed. So I have a K&K Bass Max http://www.vivacevio...ss/BassMax.html and a Rev Solo II pickup http://www.vivacevio...tionSoloII.html for sale. Both fully functional and in pretty good nick (the wooden block on the Solo hasn't been sanded down at all; it has slight impressions from being squeezed into the bridge wings but nothing of any consequence) £65 each including post or £120 posted the pair (new would be about £220 for the pair) Edit: Bass Max is now sold
19. I found the Ehrlund excellent on my now-sold Kolstein travel bass, incredibly natural sounding. But paradoxically it sounded boomy and terrible on my 3/4 flatback wherever I placed the element. I don't think there is such a thing as a best DB pickup, it depends on the bass! My 3/4 bass has Full Circle on it (was there when I bought it) and it sounds pretty good to my ears and not (very) feedback prone. Of the piezo's I have tried, I like the dual wing ones best (Shadow, Underwood - with a bit of EQing). The BassMax is a pretty good easy-on/off option as is the Rev Solo (though the latter has to be sanded to size as its contained in a wood block). The David Gage Realist was good at low volumes but at my band's volume it tended to break up.
20. Couple of pics* from our gig at the Old Queens Head, Islington last Wednesday * copyrighted by Owen Davies, so props to him for some lovely shots and hope he doesn't mind me sharing two of the many pics he took
21. Little reminder-ette of how lovely looking this bass is
22. Al bought some DB strings off me. Excellent transaction Nice one matey!
23. Me again! Tom and I did a string swap and all was good All the best Clarky
24. I was tempted and I don't even like 5-strings!
