1. Another dodgy deal in Travelodge car park. Security cameras must be buzzing! Actually, we just traded a couple of nice Fender basses and all was good, per my previous (multiple) dealings with Nick
2. Trraded so please lock this thread, mods
3.
A trade? Clarky, your head is so easily turned by a pretty picture
Something Jazz shaped incoming Karl - at least I know I can deal with a 1.5" nut width (oo err, missus)
4. Possible trade pending
5.
oo this is a lovely bass! I've got one of the recent MIM cabronita's and that's pretty good but this looks 'special'!!
Thanks Andy, these are also hard to get hold of new. The usual suspects (GAK etc) don't have stock and the main Fender Japan importer (The Guitar Emporoium) lists them at £1159! http://www.theguitaremporium.com/Fender-Japan-OPB51-SD-FJ-OPB51-SD.htm MIne is not only in superb condition but has choice of original bridge and pickup or improved versions (see AndyBob07's FS post, linked above, for details)
6. OK, refine that. All BCers with whom I have done biz apart from Old Horse Murphy for whom there is a £50 premium
7. bump! One day £50-off offer to any BC-er with whom I have previously done business So thats £500 collected or £525 posted if I have given you some feedback in the past
8. Andy bought a double bass string off me. All good! Can't believe there is no feedback thread for him, so I'm starting one
9.
I was fond of Judas Priest's 'Unleashed in the East' ('Green Manalishi'!!)
Excellent - I also liked their (brave for a metal/rock band) Joan Baez cover, Diamonds and Rust on the accompanying vinyl EP to Unleashed in the East I also happened to see them at the Apollo on the UK leg of that door and got front row seats. I touched Rob's boot. Please psycho-analyse that
10. We are actually the same person, although I find legging it between Wales and London is tiring, unless I hitch a ride on the Interparcel delivery van
11. Bilbo, are you revving up for a GOD I LOVE 70'S HEAVY ROCK thread? FWIW, the young metal-head Clarky's favorite album of said genre was Sad Wings of Destiny by Judas Priest but I do enjoy Light in the Black and Stargazer (rest of album not so good IMHO)
12. Ditto ^^^^^ Yep. Clarky. again. doing deal. with Beedster. again. top man. again
13.
What are your feelings about BF cabs? I don't know but I've just checked out his new Simplexx cabs.
I saw what you did there For the OP, Bill Fitzmaurice = BF as well as Barefaced = BF
14. "Or near offer" type bump
15. To be clear, the price of £575 includes post in UK. Will do for £550 handed over in London
16. Hi I bought this beautiful 1994 MIJ bass only last month but my struggles with my damaged left hand continue and the neck is too chunky to be comfortable for me. I thought I could cope with a 1.625" nut width but alas no. The bass is exactly as in AndyBob09's advert here and is in amazing condition - only difference is I have added some Pyramid Gold flat wound strings for retro thump (although I can swap back for nickel rounds if the buyer prefers) http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry2280047 I would like to get back the £575 I paid or very close. Can deliver (soft gig bag but cardboard box and loads of packing material) or hand over in London. Sale only; no trades, while I work out which basses I am comfortable to play Here are a couple of Andy's pics from the link above (hope thats OK?) 17. Hey Steve, here is the ebay ad from Oz which has a bunch more pics http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ALEMBIC-stanley-clarke-BROWN-BASS-/161154387667?pt=AU_Audio_CDs&hash=item25858cced3&nma=true&si=jWd8vO2G52qqA2h5wWXmPz6Yt6E%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557#ht_82wt_1399
18. Dave (aka tinyd) just bought a double bass pickup from me. All excellent from start to finish! Recommended
19. Yours matey!
20. Well that told me. I'm off to double check whether my 2012 M&S boxer shorts were actually made that year
21. TBH, I am struggling to give a toss here. Its a lovely old Jazz bass with history written all over it, played by a great bass player and it was made before everything was bar-coded and inter-webbed. So the best we have to go on is the word of the man who has owned it from new.
22.
Yes Clarky you have a beauty there. How is the weight of it working for you? Jazzyvee
It weighs 9.8 pounds which is at the upper end of what I can cope with but is fine. Funnily enough I have no balance or on-strap issues with it, although a number of people had warned about this. A very wide Minotaur strap probably makes all the difference here
23. NBD. A Brown Bass which I imported from a guy in Australia
24. Chris is in .north Wales
