1. Cheers Jon and TTT!
2. Fun gig last night, even if the on-stage sound was a bit iffy. Thanks to EliasMooseblaster (aka Ralph) for coming along and was great to meet you!
3. On further reflection, I am going to keep hold of my red Jazz and continue looking to sell my 74/5 Jazz as I need the extra money So .... £2050 for one sexy mofo of real 70's Jazz, anyone?
4. Last call for tomorrow's gig
5. True, my timing is not perfect. Just like my bass playing
6. I imported this from Mike Arnopol in the US and can confirm its exceptionally good for acoustic type situations. I specifically bought it for double bass, at which it excels. These come very highly recommended by the US TalkBass community for double bass
7. OK, one last bump for my 74/5 Jazz before I sell the 2000 'hot rod red' US standard Jazz instead and hang on to my sunburst beauty. Any takers at £2050, last price drop?
8. If this doesn't sell, my other Jazz will have to go (US standard in hot rod red with Wizards and 62RI controls; worth £625): Edit: These are old FS pics from simon1964 which I hope he doesn't mind me using (I actually got the bass from Old Horse Murphy)
9. Steven bought some DB strings off me for his Baby Bass, all good
10. For those that don't know him, he was at the forefront of acid jazz guitar http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lANilh2bLo4
11. http://www.mojo4music.com/11098/ronny-jordan-1962-2014/ Only 51. I remember his cool guitar version of 'So What' and bought his debut album when it came out. Very sad
12. Bump for a sexy bass
13. Update: the German BC'er (for whom this was on hold since before Christmas) was unable to go ahead with the purchase, unfortunately. Hence this is back up for sale
14. No worries Ralph. Shame though as our drummer reckoned it was the best we have ever played - which means it will inevitably go t*ts-up on Thursday, lol! But seriously, should be good on Thursday and hope to see you there
15. Gotta say, I really enjoyed that! Thanks for posting
16. Cracking gig last night. Next up The Finsbury on Thursday, onstage 10pm. Its bang next to Manor Park tube, next to Finsbury Park
17. Says copper on the Velvet website
18. If by copper you are referring to Velvet strings, then a wet rag and toothpaste will remove all the tarnish and - with some polishing - will brighten the strings very nicely
19. Presto strings sold. Danny T's and Velvet Animas still available
20. I have almost always used Interparcel, Jake. Very user friendly quote page and competitively priced (you get several carrier and service level options). I have used them to send basses to Scandinavia, Italy, Belgium, Germany and France, always successfully
21. Well, as it happens, I like the songs in the second half of our 45 minute set more than the ones in the first half! So if you were a bit late ... Hopefully see you tomorrow, Ralph
22.
You don't start by playing the O2. You don't even start by playing the Dog & Duck. You start by playing a simple 12-bar blues at a jam session where nobody is even vaguely interested in your technique. Little steps. Lots of little steps.
Also there's so much more you can contribute to a band other than just bass playing. Being punctual, team spirited, booking gigs, doing promotions (FaceBook, BC etc) and just being a good egg. I think thats why I have not been out of a band for the past 7 years despite not being very technically proficient
23. Hi there, 10pm is our allotted stage time which almost inevitably means we won't go on stage until 5-10 mins later! What's your real name, EliasMB, if we get the chance to meet? Cheers Clarky
24. I have a bunch of strings sitting around that would be better used on someone's bass! Up for grabs: 1. Danny Thompson Signature strings These are in 99% new condition - I bought a s/h set of prototypes on BassChat but these had problems and the Bass Centre were kind enough to send me brand new replacements (production model, not prototype) for three strings and the fourth string at a discount to new price. Put them on my bass and they are just a bit too high tension and stiff for me (I would describe them as similar in tension and feel to Spiro Mittels). Cost £145 new. Will sell for £85 posted, a bargain vs new price. http://www.basscentr...ss-strings.html [s]2. Presto Nylonwound Ultralights Again very good condition, were on my Baby Bass as it needs very low tension. Large diameter, gut-like strings which are Ideal for slappers or those who prefer just about the lowest tension strings around (<50lb per string as compared with around 58-66 pounds on Spiro Weichs). New these run to £100 including post from Thomann. Will sell for £60 posted. http://www.thomann.d..._ultralight.htm[/s] SOLD [s]3. Velvet Anima strings E/A/D used but excellent condition and brand new G (replacement from Velvet after original was faulty) that has been on my bass only a couple of days. £120 posted, so about half new price from European mainland (don't even ask about UK retail prices!). Amazing copper-wound, silk-core gut-sounding strings ... but on reflection I prefer the slimmer diameter and faster response of the synetic core Velvet Blues. http://jazz.bassico.eu/462/93?l=en [/s]SOLD No offers on the above please as I think they are already very keenly priced. Sorry, not looking for trades either as I have enough strings!!!!
25. Bloody BC detectives. Next you'll be telling me I'm sat at my computer wearing a lacy basque and high heel combo, errr
