1.
Who or what?
Rickenbacker ads on BC. See here http://basschat.co.uk/topic/209823-rickenbacker-on-basschat/
2. Ignoring my earlier quip, I actually joined in April 2008 to sell a Fender P (no change there, then) and as - having investigated - it looked like a cool forum.
3. I was surfing for porn. Looking for Asschat and mistyped
4. Would love to see this one of your various musical projects Nige but am otherwise engaged. Apologies
5. New venue alert! The Old Queen's Head pulled the plug due to unscheduled building work Its now at the Underbelly in trendy Hoxton Square. Remember to roll up your trouser legs and grow some weird facial hair http://www.underbellyhoxton.com/index.php?option=com_jevents&task=icalrepeat.detail&evid=3197&Itemid=11&year=2013&month=07&day=08&uid=feb8bfcd85343b54ff2b35ae78e33fae
6. Thanks chaps. We would be supplying most of the crowd and bringing our amps so it sounds like it would be OK from your comments. Appreciated!
7. We have been offered a gig at Underbelly and have a potential alternative that night at a newish venue, House of Wolf. Has anyone played at either recently and have any thoughts they could pass on? Its quite an urgent request. many thanks
8. £73 at Thomann http://www.thomann.de/gb/radial_engineering_sb_4.htm?sid=b9a64843414b96b09d8e3bbc97e574f6 or £90 from the only UK supplier I can spot http://www.studiocare.com/radial-engineering-sb-4-compact-active-di-for-piezo-pickups.html?
9. nearly all his previous transactions are in US dollars and for 99c cards. Looks fishy (the ad, mind so does the bass!)
10. I guess that means the HPF is only there in case of overwhelming low end rumble?
11. My feeling was the Radial pedal would be a good fail-safe, in case amp conks out or you can only go via PA. And its small and cheap too, which is nice
12. Matt bought some flatwound strings off me. Perfect, seamless deal!
13. Just spotted this new product from Radial on Gollihur's site. Its an ultra-compact, piezo-friendly, phantom-powered DI with phase switch and high-pass filter buttons. It doesn't have the HPF adjustability of an fdeck (its on/off only) but, on the other hand, the fdeck doesn't have a DI out. Looks like a really useful backup tool in cases where you have to rely only on the PA or where amplification is proving problematic. Cheap too at $80 http://www.gollihurm...ZO_PICKUPS.html
14. Here is a poll on TalkBass about string height http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f23/poll-7720-what-your-string-heights.html The most common answer was 6-7mm G to 9-10mm E, but three was a wide spread I don't think your 'action' is that high Pete. As others have said you probably just need to build up your strength. If that doesn't work out there are lower tension strings than Spiro weichs (eg Silver Slaps) but I wouldn't go down that path if you can help it as string changing is a recipe for bankruptcy and Weichs are excellent strings
15.
I cannot help but wonder whether Marcus has some master plan regarding buying and selling basses that is so brilliant that I am unable to understand it .
I like to think that I copyrighted that strategy. I have now owned at least five basses twice, courtesy of BC and my brilliant masterplan (although I believe Happy Jack has owned one of those three times, being the Alleva Antigua 5'er). I now own none of the aforementioned and don't regret it at all. Follow me? I don't so thats alright
16. Paul bought some TI flats off me. Completely friendly hassle-free deal. Which is nice
17. My gear downsizing continues. I bought this from the forum a few months back at £400 and have since added a DI extension lead (as the head does not have an XLR out) and a neat padded bag (not EA but fits perfectly), together costing about £35. Will sell for £390 posted (£380 collected) which is a bargain for an amp of this quality and in basically near-perfect condition (they are £550 new at BassDirect and the XLR conversion cable is £14 on top). Works fabulously for double bass (has two channels, one specifically voiced for piezo input) but I've also used it with my fretless acoustic/electric bass and its both loud and ludicrously light. Stock pic (mine looks identical): Specs: Inputs: Configuration: 2 independent channels- Channel 1 Mid EQ set at 500Hz for electric bass, Channel 2 Mid EQ set at 800Hz for upright/acoustic bass •Input Impedance: 1Meg ohm input impedance on both inputs •Trim controls: Independent channel level adjustments, DI output level, and high pass filter •Intelligent Input Switching: Select different settings for 1 bass or have independent setups for 2 basses, Channel 1 or Channel 2, or Channel 1+2 •Controls: Channel switch, Input gain, 3-Band EQ, Master Volume, Mute switch, Effects loop blend •EQ: Low, Mid, and High for each channel, Variable high pass filter 22-80 Hz, 6db per octave (allows selection of a frequency below which response is reduced, helps boomy rooms and stages-Channel 2 only) •Effects Loop: Parallel effects loop with blend control, wide range of setups via internal jumpers •Outputs: Speakon speaker, tuner, effects send, balanced DI out (1/4" stereo wired as TRS) •Protection: Internal cooling fan, thermal and overload •Line Voltage: 100/120 - 240 volts internally selected via jumper •Frequency Response: 20Hz to 20kHz +/- 3dB •Power Output: 550 watts @ 4 ohms 310 watts @ 8 ohms •Size: 2.1"H x 8.5"W x 5.4"D •Weight: 2.3 lbs.

20. I have a lanyard already, losers
21. I am pleased to be the first to contribute to a feedback thread for Dave, aka davedabass. Dave bought an Epi cab off me today. All completely upfront and correct and we had a nice chat in his very cool studio. Hope I haven't been the catalyst for a BassChat-inspired spending spree, Dave, and enjoy the cab!
22. I had a seam re-done for a tenner I think, while I was waiting, by Malcolm Healy!
