1.
Yes, I want my money back
Me too
2. Admit it Dave, you were once the bass player for the Wombles
3. PS, Chris, there was a time when I not only played a Warwick Thumb, but it had (gasp) 5 strings too .... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uI3OsjAAIc A far cry from All The Queens Ravens!
4. Are you re-considering the other 738 deals we have already done, Chris?
5. It was all a hollow empty sham Chris
6.
Banish it from your mind Clarky....................
Worry not, Lozz. I am slimming down my collection, not adding to it. Think of it as mid-life crisis moment (the big 5-0 approaches in July, eeek). By tonight I shall happily be playing my Jazz bass again
7. Listen, don't mention the war(wick)! I mentioned it once, but I think I got away with it all right.
8.
That's complete rubbish, and totally unfair. To me, it looks like a puddle of congealed fat with bacon bits in it.
Said the man that recently visited a Warwick factory and considered buying one
9.
You're not Clarky. Where is he?? What have you done with him??
Probably delirium caused by sleep deficiency
10. As a fender fan boy and avowed hater of coffee table fancy wooden tops I should hate this bass. But I don't. I really think its a great looking piece. On sale at BassDirect for £1500 if anyone's interested (its a Warwick Thumb 'Dirty Blonde' - perhaps the name is what's hooking me!) Not buying it but thought I'd post up in case anyone else fancies a pop
11. I have had second thoughts about selling my '71 fretless (thanks Beedster!) and so I am putting this up FS instead. This being a 1990/1 CIJ hollow bodied A/E Precision fretless. It has a Cafe Walter preamp and a piezo and 'normal' P pickup which can be blended. As is typical for this model (according to Talkbass) the G piezo output is slighly weaker than the E/A/D (apparently as the bridge pressure is lower on the G piezo [there is less tension from the thinner G string than the thicker E/A/D]); it can be remedied by getting a luthier to split the bridge saddle apparently - a fix which is largely invisible - but I was happy blending the two pickups so that the lower piezo output is neutralised by the electric pickup). Whatever, it sounds great live (I used it at our Finsbury gig a couple of weeks back and BCer wwcringe aka Tom commented on it sounding DB-like). For an early 90s bass it's in great nick with just a couple of minor dings. Weighs under 8 pounds The price is what I paid only a couple of months back on BC. Sorry no trades.. These are stock pics of an identical bass as its too dark to take a photo now https://www.google.c...Fr5sByvIvnvM%3A https://www.google.c...MHeE7n3XpN9M%3A
12.
Be warned -There will be an additional charge for anybody wearing an Arsenal shirt!!!
Do you get free lasagna if wearing a Sp*rs shirt?
13. Looking good for me coming along. I will bring my BigE 4x5 cab, EA Micro head (thats an amp, not a description of me) and a Fender or two (63P, 75J and/or 71 fretless)
14. The user guide is very self explanatory Pete. In practice all you will need to adjust is the EQ sliders (takes a split second) and - if feedback issues - the phase control. http://www.fishman.com/files/pro_eq_platinum_bass_user_guide.pdf
15. very nice Nick! I am cutting down my collection too. A P, a J and (for my current band as I am not 100% comfortable with it) a fretless
16. Sorry OP, very poor quality shots, too much reflection
17. I've had both. The 3 series has a more sturdy metal case (2 series is plastic) and a new algorithm on cutting off low frequencies which has a set level and a variable level. TBH, I can't hear the difference, I prefer the 3 series as its less likely to break if it drops on the floor. But that said I've never dropped it on the floor! Horses for courses, both are good
18. I have an fdeck too. Its great going into the front of a regular amp as it tames the boom from very low frequencies and has the all-important phase (feedback) control. What it will not do is be an emergency backup DI should you have amplification problems and it doesn't have any EQ abilities. Very useful device
19.
easy fix. mark out bridge feet position by putting strips of masking/ gaffa tape round them onto bass top. Destring, you wont have to completelly remove them , just enough to ge the bridge out and tail wire over the endoin. the endpin assembly will drop out, its not glued in. Straighten endpin and put back as above . dead easy, or you could bring it to me and Ill charge about £100 , just like a real luthier would.
Just did this (made easy as the Kolstein has a spring-loaded soundpost - being a travel bass - so it doesn't drop out). Worked a treat! Many thanks
20. In answer to another PM, I have Hiscox case and cardboard box so posting is no problem (UK or overseas, the latter is typically about £60 to mainland Europe)
21. Thanks Peter, I fear I have bent the endpin so it may have to go to a luthier as I am nervous about applying lateral pressure, for fear of it damaging the wood
