1. My Kolstein bass' endpin has stopped being adjustable and is jammed. It simply will not move. Doesn't help that its not at the right height for my playing either I've tried loosening the bracket around it. Nada. I assume if I oiled it it would (possibly) do the trick. However I am nervous of dripping oil in my bass in case it goes all the way through to the other side of the endpin assembly, plops on to the inner woodworking and does some damage. Maybe I am being overly cautious and there are some oils that are fine? Any suggestions esteemed DB playing BassChat chums?
2. Hey Harry, PlatPro is the standard and bloody good. If you want more functionality (more detailed EQ, feedback control etc) I recommend a Headway EDB-1. Thats what I use. But both are stonking
3.
Bass player gets mentioned - that's the headline! MacWifey was asking when we're gonna see the band 'with your mate with the silver hair' again. Get thee south of the river soon!
Hey MacD we are playing Brixton next Friday And oopsdabassist you are too kind! Cheers matey
4. Thanks Paul! Will be interesting to see how much interest in the band it generates. Certainly can't hurt
5. Great plug for the band, the album and our gigs. Sadly in the bio information they only mentioned the previous bass player (who to be fair played on the track they chose) so my mum will wonder why my name has suddenly become Luke Edit: haha, he corrected it at the end of the programme and mentioned me as the current bass player
6.
You changed the strings? Oh well, that's it, the deal's off!!!
I still have the strings (Lakland flats)
7.
. If you get to do an interview at some stage it may be worth canvassing for opinion on which fretless to sell.
I've already been put firmly in my place by Beedster on that score!
8. Just to reiterate (after a few PMs), no trades thanks, I have an expensive few months coming up and could really do with the cash. So its sale only ... with one exception - I would do a part-trade for an Aguilar TH500 (and that specific model only) plus cash
9.
Seriously thinking about selling my Veillette so I can buy this back
Well Gareth it has not even left my house in the six months I have owned this lovely bass so its exactly as you remember it (bar a change of strings)!
10. If the band weren't set on my non-DB being something that vaguely resembled an acoustic instrument, I would rather sell my A/E fretless a hundred times over before this, Chris
11.
These are great cabs and that's a fine price sir!
Why thank you sir! It is indeed a lovely cab but I have too many
12. Thanks for that, I will watch this. Ray was one of the true greats and master of swinging/walking
13. I can't play fretless either matey, but it hasn't stopped me!
14. This is a live video of Aura Negra (played with hidden mics in a vintage clothes shop) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_EysgZI-BPc
15. We have just heard from BBC London's programmes producer that All The Queens Ravens will be played on Saturday night between 8-9pm on Gary Crowley’s New Music Show, BBC London 94.9fm. The show runs between 7-10pm, with an hour of Introducing bands from the London area in the middle hour. They will probably be playing our track Aura Negra. Excited we are. YESSSSSSSSS!!!!!!!
16. Here's a pic taken today in very dingey light. The white-ish bits are just fluff that I haven't been bothered to remove
17. That's a stunner! I think you should be ble to shift this
18. Dummy by Portishead What a fantastic album! A while since I last heard it. So worth a fresh listen
19. He was also in Gong and played guitar (this may please Nige!)
20. I got this a couple of months back from BC'er chrkelly and have used it for a couple of gigs. Fabulous sounding and silly light cab but - now that I have my BigE 4x5 cab (imported from US) - I have my larger double bass gigs covered (and my Crazy8 cab covers small gigs and rehearsals). £[s]350[/s] 300 plus post; obviously collection/handover preferred in London. No trades thanks as I have too much gear already! 21.
Ah but Jack, you usually have yours truly to help with the carrying of stuff...
Read the post above yours Silvia. Apparently "all" the stuff
22. Do you actually need all that PA gear Jack? I've never played a venue yet where they didn't have some form of PA and all you need do then is bring your own uber-light neodymium rig plus bass and a DI box. It might not sound hi-fi but the punters probably don't (bar the lurking BC gear stalkers!) notice the difference
23. Very useful piece of kit for DB. More functionality than a Plat Pro and can be used to DI if you cannot bring an amp along or are having amplification problems (I always bring one in my DB gig bag just in case). Have a bump on me
