1. Good stuff Keith, these are my spare set (have Spiro Weich and Mittel sets on my basses now) so I hope I don't break a string!
2. The strings are about six months old and have years of life on them but the silks are a little ragged (see picture), having been on and off my basses a few times while I have been on the usual 'string odyssey' (why are Spiro silks so fragile?). Anyway these are £115 + post from Thomann so how about £60 posted?
3. This is on trial for a week with a BC'er
4. Oops me again. Roger and I just did an amp/cab trade in a quite posh services station. As ever, Roger was thoroughly charming and accommodating
5. Simonon-tastic with the cream DiMarzios! Phwoar
6. Hadn't occurred to me but thats excellent! Right Said Jack
7. "Sexy and I know it"
8. Really excellent gigbags, these (I have one). Someone grab a bargain
9. but at least he didn't get charged a £20 fee
10. I have used a Bassmax in the G slot too with good results on my little Kolstein travel bass, which is surprisingly boomy and thumpy for a downsized DB
11. Its 550W at 4 ohms or 310 at 8 ohms so I have never had a problem with sound level. And I play next to a loud drummer. BC'er wwcringe has played an acoustic electric bass through it and my old Epi 112 cab (8 ohm) and seemed happy at a recent gig so you could ask him for a second opinion. Its very clean for electric bass and you might want to warm it up with a preamp or pedal (Sansamp etc) for a retro Motown or overdriven blues sound Edit: BassBod got there first!
12. If you could have stretched your budget I would have said my EA Micro. Clean as a whistle and one input specifically voiced for DB piezo, the other for electric. Trouble is I am already losing money on it at £380 (and I bought it s/h only a few months ago)
13. I think its clearly factual that the fee is putting people off selling from the posts so far. I guess its a different question whether you feel the site offers a great deal more than a marketplace and I for one would happily pay £20 a year just to be a member. Like wateroftyne said earlier, how much do the naysayers spend on beer at the weekend? - £20 a year for unlimited advice, camaraderie, music tips, knowledge is a super bargain in my book but clearly others disagree
14.
You`ve a fair point there Clarky. I think many of us comment on basses, specially on mates ads, to try and encourage a sale for them, have certainly done so myself. Bt maybe a genuine buyer may not have the patience to read through 2/3 pages of "great bass, if only I had the cash" so then said seller loses out. Maybe a way forward is to discourage this - one for the mods maybe. If it encourages actual sales I can`t think of anyone getting the hump about it. Only post on a For Sale ad if actually interested in buying or making enquiries to see if intending to buy?
Actually Lozz I was just re-posting the infamous TIM post from a couple of years ago!
15. THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE A SITE FOR BASS ENTHUSIASTS, EXPENSIVE BASSES, CHEAP BASSES, WHATEVER , ALL I CAN SEE IS GUYS LOOKING AT PICS AND MAKING COMMENTS ONE WAY OR ANOTHER, ITS A WASTE OF TIM ADVERTISING ON HERE AS FAR AS I CAN SEE. IS THERE REALLY ANY POINT IN HAVING A FOR SALE SECTION??????
16. I think the fee is eminently reasonable. I probably spent at least that amount each year on one-off donations as a thank you to BC. I think maybe one other consideration is that some BC'ers (myself included) are thinning the herd down and that obviously reduces trade deals and the pool of potential buyers
17. "your stating a trade value but you dont want to trade.? " Yeah the ad ad isn't clear but that question by b5 is driven by the software issue
18. Oh and I apologise for swearing. I was very drunk last night (had to go to a drinks party where I knew noone bar the neighbours) and came in to find my thread being described as redundant. Being drunk and being criticised don't go we'll together!
19. Example 672: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/210158-cutlass-stingray-black-1984/page__view__findpost__p__2112988 See bubinga5's comment
20. Great, being redundant is great, call me a f***ing dinosaur
21. Option 1 in poll amended in light of Cloudburst's comment. Third option also added
22.
I use luggage scales. They work fine and very cheap.
but are they good for metal?
23.
Will it be safe to hang the bass off the tuner ? I don't want to break or bend the machine head .
its what I do but then I am only ever weighing basses with heavy, solid tuners (Fenders). I would probably be more circumspect if it was a lightweight skinny tuner
24. Is that Mrs Dingus in your avatar?
25. And my scales lie
