1. Rather than look at a slightly chubby white-haired man playing an Eminence (me, not you Keith!) I'm sure the fourm would rather see the delightful Esperanza playing an Eminence! So here you go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=15M62OtLrBQ
2. This is a lovely instrument which I played in my former band Rattlin Bone and - courtesy of its convenient, pack-down-able nature - took on a brief mini-tour of Portugal. Here's a pic of it in action. It has been seen and heard in action by several BC'ers (Happy Jack, low end bee off the top of my head)
3. Would pair beautifully with the 1971 fretless Precision I have for sale, Jas Back on topic: another gorgeous bass, Si, from your loft of dreams!
4. Paul bought a rather nice Jazz bass off me this evening. Could not have been a more straightforward deal. PM'd Sunday, agreed meeting place, handover Monday at a mutually convenient place. Only a shame we didn't have much time for a chat (I had to dive out of a rehearsal to hand the bass over). Echoing the comments above, a thoroughly decent bloke to do biz with
5. And now I've just been lumped with a VAT bill and customs handling charge for £25 Kidding
6. Keep us in touch here Kev as I keep thinking about guts/ gut-alikes. I now have Spiro Mittels on my old German 3/4 bass which are superbly growl-y but I can't help but love the old school sound. I don't slap though - its pizz all the way for me - so maybe I should stick with what I have and just be happy!
7. Cheers Lee! PS, I would have liked the bass higher in the mix (I am a bass player after all!) but I have to concede that being lower in the mix probably allows some of the other instruments (eg, madolin, which I think is superb on this song, and the Spanish guitar) to shine, especially as there's a lot going on musically
8. None taken Chris! The 71 is infinitely better looking but the band want an "acoustic looking" fretless on those odd occasions when I'm not playing DB. Plus the 71 is worth a lot more and the cash would be nice This summer its my daughter's 18th, my son's 21st (and I hit the big 5-0 and am off for posh weekend away with Mrs C; all three events within the space of two months. Ouch)
9. Hey Chris, one of these (in answer to your question)
10. Tumbleweed bump!
11. I picked this bass up from the forum last summer and its truly lovely. From memory its about 10 years old (I will check s/n later). Nice weight (9-9.5 pounds), fast neck and lovely blue finish which could be sonic or daphne blue, I'm not sure. A couple of minor dents but really nothing serious at all (nothing through to wood). Its basically in great condition for a used bass. Super though it is, now I've got my 75 Jazz this is surplus to requirements. IIRC I paid £500 from BCer orbs and that is my price too. Its worth every penny. Post is extra but I could handover in London These are orbs' pics (hope thats OK) but the bass is in identical condition as I haven't gigged it (only difference is new strings - Status halfwounds):
12. nIce playing and sound Bilbo. Bring back the goatee though
13. Stunning and ridiculously authentic! Good luck with the sale Rick
14. So ... Are they any good for metal? PS, dropped you a PM, wateroftyne
15. Sorry but I thought my replies were crystal clear
16.
Is that including VAT?
Thats what I paid, so its net of everything
17. The strings are $30 and postage was either $12 or $14 (can't remember which) which means at $1.5/£ it was about £28-29
18. Saturday bump! Can post and would take near offer
19. Yep, he did stuff from every album from Trespass through to Wind and Wuthering. From memory, Watcher of the Skies, Moonlit Knight, Dance on a volcano, Musical Box, I know what I like, Broadway Melody, Lamia, Chamber of 32 Doors, Eleventh Earl of Mar, Unquiet slumbers, Blood on Rooftops, Emtangled (my favourite), Suppers Ready, Firth of Fifth, Los Endos. He also did solo track Shadow of Hierophant. BAZZING IT WAS
20. Met up with BCers Molan (Barrie) and Garythebass and saw Steve Hackett at the Apollo. Not only did it bring a huge lump to my throat as he played songs from my first ever gig (Genesis at Earls Court 1977, 13 year-old Clarky) but he played for 2 and three-quarter hours. Bloody hell. What a star. Some nice guests too, best being John Wetton who sang on one track and sounds fantastic still That was a great gig! One happy Clarky
