1. I've noticed DB string prices going up recently. Suddenly Thomann has stopped selling Spirocore Mittel/Mediums - which is odd for one of the reference strings in the industry - and you can bet your bottom dollar they come back on their catalog with a significantly higher price. Anything US sourced (not just strings) will inevitably be in-line for stonking price rises to us Brits as the dollar has moved from 1.60-1.65 to 1.50 in the past two months
2.
Can someone please contact Wayne again for me. I've sent item back but he's not replied to my pms .. bit frustrating. cheers Si
will do I know he's wrapped up in wedding preparations right now
3. I had an Eko B4 fretless acoustic bass some time ago and installed one of these - the K&K floating bridge pickup, which just slots under the bridge (loosen strings and bridge, slide underneath, super simple). Sounded very good at low volumes but the bass itself was very feedback-prone at higher volumes (a common problem with acoustic basses) http://www.jp-guitars.co.uk/sales/pickups_and_amplification/kandk_acoustic_guitar_pickups_archtop.htm
4. I will join you ... If it actually goes ahead!
5. Me again, this time a trade of two nice cabs. All good, yet again
6.
Sorry Clarky, I've got eight new songs to learn (for BluesXS) in time for rehearsal on Saturday lunchtime ...
learning is for wimps
7. Nice score Charic! Could I also be cheeky and add my band's gig this Thursday at half Moon, Putney to the cheeky advertising list. So far, Low End Bee is coming but looks like he will be rather lonely, at least as far as BCers go. Does anyone want to join him for a pint of mild and some good "gypsy Fleetwood Mac"?
8. Hmmm. so far you look like you will be rather lonely in the audience, Ad, at least as far as BCers go ....
9. Bump and another dude playing it upright in a jazz (nice) groove http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7j_h4HlyShY&feature=player_embedded#!
10. Mickey I only have 4.789 words to say to you: Lovers leap Walking across the sitting-room, I turn the television off. Sitting beside you, I look into your eyes. As the sound of motor cars fades in the night time, I swear I saw your face change, it didn't seem quite right. ...and it's hello babe with your guardian eyes so blue Hey my baby don't you know our love is true. Coming closer with our eyes, a distance falls around our bodies. Out in the garden, the moon seems very bright, Six saintly shrouded men move across the lawn slowly. The seventh walks in front with a cross held high in hand. ...and it's hey babe your suppers waiting for you. Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true. Ive been so far from here, Far from your warm arms. Its good to feel you again, Its been a long long time. hasn't it? The guaranteed eternal sanctuary man I know a farmer who looks after the farm. With water clear, he cares for all his harvest. I know a fireman who looks after the fire. You, can't you see he's fooled you all. Yes, he's here again, can't you see he's fooled you all. Share his peace, Sign the lease. Hes a supersonic scientist, Hes the guaranteed eternal sanctuary man. Look, look into my mouth he cries, And all the children lost down many paths, I bet my life you'll walk inside Hand in hand, Gland in gland With a spoonful of miracle, Hes the guaranteed eternal sanctuary. We will rock you, rock you little snake, We will keep you snug and warm. Ikhnaton and itsacon and their band of merry men Wearing feelings on our faces while our faces took a rest, We walked across the fields to see the children of the west, But we saw a host of dark skinned warriors Standing still below the ground, Waiting for battle. The fights begun, they've been released. Killing foe for peace...bang, bang, bang. bang, bang, bang... And they're giving me a wonderful potion, Cos I cannot contain my emotion. And even though Im feeling good, Something tells me I'd better activate my prayer capsule. Todays a day to celebrate, the foe have met their fate. The order for rejoicing and dancing has come from our warlord. How dare I be so beautiful? Wandering through the chaos the battle has left, We climb up a mountain of human flesh, To a plateau of green grass, and green trees full of life. A young figure sits still by a pool, Hes been stamped human bacon by some butchery tool. (he is you) Social security took care of this lad. We watch in reverence, as narcissus is turned to a flower. A flower? Willow farm If you go down to willow farm, To look for butterflies, flutterbyes, gutterflies Open your eyes, it's full of surprise, everyone lies, Like the fox on the rocks, And the musical box. Oh, there's mum & dad, and good and bad, And everyones happy to be here. There's winston churchill dressed in drag, He used to be a british flag, plastic bag, what a drag. The frog was a prince, the prince was a brick, the brick was an egg, The egg was a bird. (fly away you sweet little thing, they're hard on your tail) Hadnt you heard? (they're going to change you into a human being!) Yes, were happy as fish and gorgeous as geese, And wonderfully clean in the morning. Weve got everything, were growing everything, Weve got some in Weve got some out Weve got some wild things floating about Everyone, were changing everyone, You name them all, Weve had them here, And the real stars are still to appear. All change! Feel your body melt; Mum to mud to mad to dad Dad diddley office, dad diddley office, Youre all full of ball. Dad to dam to dum to mum Mum diddley washing, mum diddley washing, Youre all full of ball. Let me hear you lies, were living this up to the eyes. Ooee-ooee-ooee-oowaa Momma I want you now. And as you listen to my voice To look for hidden doors, tidy floors, more applause. Youve been here all the time, Like it or not, like what you got, Youre under the soil (the soil, the soil), Yes, deep in the soil (the soil, the soil, the soil, the soil!). So well end with a whistle and end with a bang And all of us fit in our places. Apocalypse in 9/8 (co-starring the delicious talents of gabble ratchet) With the guards of magog, swarming around, The pied piper takes his children underground. Dragons coming out of the sea, Shimmering silver head of wisdom looking at me. He brings down the fire from the skies, You can tell he's doing well by the look in human eyes. Better not compromise. It wont be easy. 666 is no longer alone, Hes getting out the marrow in your back bone, And the seven trumpets blowing sweet rock and roll, Gonna blow right down inside your soul. Pythagoras with the looking glass reflects the full moon, In blood, he's writing the lyrics of a brand new tune. And it's hey babe, with your guardian eyes so blue, Hey my baby, don't you know our love is true, Ive been so far from here, Far from your loving arms, Now Im back again, and babe it's gonna work out fine. As sure as eggs is eggs (aching mens feet) Cant you feel our souls ignite Shedding ever changing colours, in the darkness of the fading night, Like the river joins the ocean, as the germ in a seed grows We have finally been freed to get back home. There's an angel standing in the sun, and he's crying with a loud voice, This is the supper of the mighty one, Lord of lords, King of kings, Has returned to lead his children home, To take them to the new jerusalem.
11. Ah, my bad. I think you can safely bank on Blood on the Rooftops and Firth of Fifth
12. [s]I have a spare ticket for his Hammersmith Apollo gig on Friday 10th May (I was going with two mates but one just cancelled EDIT: and now the other has too!). Is there any BC'er that likes Steve Hackett and/or pre-"And Then Were Three" Genesis (as he is playing old Genesis standards on this tour) that fancies it? Would be £32 Drop me a PM if interested[/s] FYI, garythebass took the first one Edit: and molan has the second
13.
I was wondering when you'd get your big cock out again, Clarky.
It was when skank mentioned trousers ...
14. Very eloquently put skank. My response is less intellectual:
15. Blast Cult make some super cool retro rockabilly style double basses. The bass whisperer Ed Friedland plays one. Edit: here http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=yHk5Y_UqGB8&desktop_uri=%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DyHk5Y_UqGB8&gl=GB
16. There's a couple more pics of your bass on the Duke website (pics 1 and 2 on this page) http://duke-bass.de/pics
17. Thats an especially beautiful looking bass Roberto. I am already well sorted for DB's but that ticks my boxes. Good luck with the sale!
18.
I just keep looking at this, im actually quite smitten love the videos it sounds fantastic and I bet the labellas work great I have them on my acoustic. Even if I never end up with this, you've definately put one on my wish list
Sorry to have cost you a sizeable chunk of money at some point in the future Bump with reminder of the rather specific p/x options in post number 8 above
19. Good grief, talk about the ugly duckling. That patina beforehand is truly appalling and I can only imagine how much it must have reeked. The finished bass looks the bomb! Great job
20.
I'm still playing the last one of these that Clarky sold.
Did you buy the Fusion gigbag Dave?
21. Thanks for the offer but I am well sorted for basses. One of the reasons I am moving this on is I have a glass back and the Takamine is (as you can see from the vids) quite a big instrument. Appreciate it though
22. Cheers guys! I suppose I could potentially post but it would be quite pricey as the bass in hard case is pretty heavy and the gig-friendly padded cello case would need a separate box. I am guessing the lot would be £30-40 to post. I much prefer cash but would entertain partial trade offers (need to clear £700 cash at a minimum as that is what an incoming Fender A/E bass is costing me). Rather specific though - I would be interested in an Acoustic Image Clarus+ head (newer series, two channel as my combo only has the one channel head) or an Epifani UL112 Series 2 cab (to match my existing one). PS, this is the padded cello bag (£126 online best price) http://www.fusion-ba...ize-black-16258 It absolutely makes gigging with the bass so much more back- and arm-friendly
23. Worth putting an Items Wanted thread up on BC I'd say as I bet you can get a decent piezo p/u cheaper than that. Loads of DB players on BC seem to have a drawer full of piezo pickups so may be willing to sell
