  1. My main band leader over the last 10-15 years, Wily Bo Walker, has something of the Tom Waits about his gravelly vocals. We even recorded a cover of TW's "Yesterday is Here" a few years back, with yours truly on double bass. Enjoy (I hope); https://wilybo.bandcamp.com/track/yesterday-is-here-its-been-a-wonderful-life-reprise
  2. Ok, will throw in both sets of strings for the £850. Courier, if needed, extra and at cost
  3. https://www.notreble.com/buzz/2023/10/04/ashdown-introduces-the-pro-di-pedal/ The webpage from Ashdown: https://ashdownmusic.com/products/ashdown-pro-di-1 Its on 3 week pre-order at Bax for £239. Its entering a pretty crowded space but that price seems competitive (more so than the £299 on Ashdown website)
  4. I was thinking the K&K Pure Archtop and with foam f hole inserts it could be the answer? However, I do realise it would be riskier than a regular electric pickup and you may end up with some expensive parts to move on if feedback remains an issue
  5. The best approximation I have had to a DB sonically was with Rob Allen basses which have a piezo pickup in the bridge and La Bella black nylon strings. Maybe a quality piezo is what you need, rather than a regular electric pickup?
  6. Thats my kind of EQ - simple to set and forget. I can't do the weight (so I have the just-over-30-pounds Handbox WB valve amp) but I bet that sounds glorious!

    Backup Mustang

This one in a nice Torino red/competition stripes finish has been up FS for ages, I assume (1) as its been modded for a P pickup and (2) as its a bit overpriced. The modding might not bother you, given you were happy to mod your 60s Mustang, perhaps? And I bet they would take a significantly lower offer, given how long its been sitting there. Edit: the link doesn't take you directly to the bass but if you scroll down to the one FS at Guitarzilla, that's the one. https://reverb.com/uk/p/fender-mb-98-slash-mb-sd-mustang-bass-reissue-mij

    Backup Mustang

The closest in neck profile and feel (albeit with a standard Mustang pickup) to your #1 would be one of the CIJ reissue basses. They have 1.5" nut width and skinnier neck than all currently manufactured Mustangs, including the JMJ. Upu could pick up a s/h one in Fiesta red for maybe £850 ish?
  9. Would also do £999 including post if I swap out TI flats for a set of nickel rounds (prob D'Addario or DRs, depending on what fits in my string drawer)
  10. Final price cut. £875 plus delivery at cost with La Bella Mustang flatwound strings, £850 plus delivery with stock Fender flatwound strings.
  11. Marty bought a nice Broughton preamp pedal from me and all was fine and dandy! Enjoy the pedal Marty 🙂
  12. Fender Marcus Miller Jazz (sorry to give a straight answer)
  13. Lovely bass Nick and TBH I prefer the skinnier neck profile on these Japanese reissues to the chunkier 70s style neck on the JMJ. GLWYS!
  14. Hi Gunnar, as its a 2009 bass these should be regular Am Std pickups as my good friend Wikipedia says "In March 2012, Fender updated the American Standard Jazz Bass (except the five-string version) with Custom Shop 1960s Jazz Bass pickups. "
  15. Fabulous basses. My MW has an Aguilar P pickup but I bet this sounds even bigger with the Tbird pickup. GLWYS!
  16. Bump. Forgot to add that it comes with a standard, not great Fender gigbag (I have always used my thickly padded Serek gigbag for rehearsals and gigs)
  17. Recently bought on the forum, sounds absolutely great but my recent gigs have all benefited from the DI out functionality (which this lacks) of my BassRig Super Vintage. Minty condition. Price includes UK postage.
  18. PS, some more pics here from BassDirect, from whom I bought the bass. https://www.bassdirect.co.uk/product/2009-fender-american-standard-jazz-bass-3-tone-sunburst-pre-owned/
  19. 2009 3TS American Standard Jazz in vgc for age, just some surface dimples here and there, no nasty dings. Wearing nearly new TI flats and with slick, low action. Nice sub-9 pound weight (8.8 pounds on my digital luggage scales). Comes with tweed Fender gigbag but will be well wrapped/boxed if post needed. £995 * now £900 * plus delivery at cost. Or collect SW13 London. Close up pics show the brightness of the sunburst more accurately than the further away shots, which make it look more brown and less vibrant than in reality. No trades, sale only
  20. Reverb charges 8%, so not much of a profit at £2299 https://reverb.com/item/73776532-fender-precision-bass-guitar-1978-in-antigua
