1. Glen came over to try out my two Warwick Thumbs and liked my NT Thumb so much he bought it then and there! No messing! Nice guy, very friendly and very straightforward deal. Recommended BCer to do biz with. Enjoy that lovely bass Glen
2. 2004 NT Thumb in wonderful condition. I bought it from The Gallery a couple of weeks ago. Its a superb bass but I pretty quickly wished I had got the 5 string equivalent. Well I just picked up a Thumb 5 from a Belgian BC'er yesterday so am putting this up FS. Those who remember the listing at the Gallery will remember it was for sale at £1550 (it was a commission sale so I paid the full price). I will take £1500 ono which is around half of new price (when you can find one) and TBH you would be hard pushed to spot this isn't new (no dings/knocks and one minor surface indentation/line you can only see if you hold up to the light, otherwise invisible). Weight a nice 9.8 pounds. Comes with uber-heavy Warwick Rock case (proper heavy duty flightcase) plus truss rod tool, strap locks and various adjustment tools. Unfortunately no log book. However if I plug the serial number into the Warwick dater I get the following: Serial No.: D-106303-04 Article Code: 1274030004BDBPOOWW produced: 11/05/2004 Info: Thumb Bass, 4-string Natural Oil finish Bubinga Pommele body Ovangkol neck Black hardware Given the weight and unwieldy nature of the case I would prefer not to post. I am in London for handover/meet up. NB: as this is to pay for my Thumb 5, no trades please
3. http://www.guitargui...ck=px-G15ES2566 Looks just like Warwickhunt's lovely Sadowsky PJ, great price Edit: seems to be missing one control knob; otherwise looks vgc
4. I just bought a Warwich Thumb bass off Belgium based BCer, Herm. Great deal. Bass exactly as described and in wonderful condition, nicely packed and friendly communications throughout. Would not hesitate to recommend Herm as a decent guy to do biz with
5. Jack bought a rather lovely 1960s Ampeg baby bass off me, marking our 278th transaction ... or something like that. As pleasurable, straightforward and honest as the other 277 (or whatever) deals!
6. Excellent chaps - just think how good it could have been if you had spent 10 or 20p on it ...
7.
Is she singing "chasing wild horsies"?
Yep, its the plural of horse, like doggies is the plural of dog
8. I'm not able to buy your beautiful bass but it might help if you clarify what is meant by "FDP IN" as that is not a common abberviation. Does it mean shipping included? Just trying to be helpful, whilst staring lovingly at your bass
9. Sounds like one where my good friend lozbass will be wondering whether he should have a crack at 5's again as it ticks most of his boxes (sonic blue, Celinder)
10. Congrats, will never forget my first double bass gig (dressed as a zombie of course). Huge feeling of satisfaction And blimey a Martin is not a shabby DB to start on either!
11. Here's my lot http://www.facebook.com/Basschat#!/queensravens
12. My next gig with ATQR is on Friday 22nd June at the Wilmington Arms in Clerkenwell/Islington. We should be onstage about 9pm. Cheers! http://www.thewilmingtonarms.co.uk/
13. Compare with the taste and tone here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sajihaV1rGk&feature=related
14. I used to have a few of Jaco's later CDs (eg, with Bireli Lagrene) and his tone absolutely went to pot (possibly literally) after the first couple of Weather Report albums. This sounds a bit like the live track Slang from Weather Report Live 8.30pm (I think thats what its called) and its horrible, showy and nasty sounding. Compare this with the fluidity and sublime tone of say Havona on Heavy Weather and its chalk and cheese to me
15. Here ya go Shaggy http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iwck-LNnUic
16. Thanks Sean! I lucked out big-time, getting this gig http://vimeo.com/30684003 (with previous bass player, before you ask where the shock of white hair has gone!)
17. From yesterday's gig at the Apple Tree in Clerkenwell. Showing you can pull a Jimmy Page pout with a double bass ... and look just as silly
18. Gotta love the internet. A vaguely p*ssed rant after midnight on Saturday and we're up to four sides of debate, reasoned argument and occasional heckling FWIW, I think rosewood and blocks on a sunburst Jazz looks wonderful (eg, wot's early 70s Jazz) and white blocks on a maple board too (eg, the lovely white Jazz sold by glenhughes that was previously wombatboter's). But I maintain my argument from my OP that black blocks on maple are unsightly, especially with a paler bodied bass
19. here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qDWVzBO-eQE
20. Drop a PM to chris_b I think he has been looking for one of these for ages
21. I think its RIM Basses that uses Q-tuners
22. Well that was a cracking gig! Many thanks to Billy Apple (Sean or is it Shaun?) for coming along. Lovely to meet you and glad you hooked up with some nice people for beers and chat
