1. Rhodri just bought my Wizzy 10 cab. Friendly, straightforward deal. Enjoy the cab and don't spend too much time on BassChat or you will end up much poorer!
2. Late night bump. Happy Jack played the bass yesterday and agreed that it would be fair to describe the action (4mm at 12th fret on E) as medium/high and one suited to those who like to "dig in" (rather than those who like light touch, super-slick necks). He also spotted that there's a bit of a belly cut-out at the rear which makes it a lot more comfortable than the pure slab body of an old 4001
3. I was sent a faulty combo and it took over 3 weeks to get refunded after I returned it. I was pretty p*ssed by the time the money arrived as I emailed them about half a dozen times badgering them for the money that was rightfully mine. Their only defense was their claim that they were under-staffed in the returns dept. This may be true of course and could be the issue that you are running into. Anyway, hope you get dealt with more quickly than I was.
4.
Thanks for the info. I am not familiar with Percy Jones. I will have to correct this shortcoming...
here ya go http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IG3qiUyHAnU&feature=relmfu
5. Is that the one that was on eBay a week or so back? Absolute beauty
6.
I take it back!
However, I agree its a long way from death/thrash metal to nu-folk/country/flamenco!!!
7.
I didn't have you down as a Warwick player Clarky!
Ahem, an earlier version of me in death/thrash metal band Nyx in 2006,playing a Thumb 5 BO http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3uI3OsjAAIc
8. Its early days (day one in fact!) but there is an amazing range of sounds available including modern, jazz-like and even a rich-sounding, fairly reasonable approximation of a P (not exact, as you would expect, but in a band context I doubt many would notice a big difference). This video sold it for me http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TOLxxevOCzU
9. Donation made by me too to the appeal. Best wishes to you and your brave brother, Scott
10. Having funds in from selling my fretless Wal, I wanted to buy a high quality Fender Precision alternative that would deliver a broad range of tones, have a fast neck ... and look nice I recently played Nigel/silddx' chrome Warwick Streamer and, while the finish was definitely not 'me', the ebony board was just lovely. That got me thinking about a Warwick Thumb. After a bit of research and consulting with alanbass1 (a P man whose go-to bass is now a Thumb NT) I ended up at the Bass Gallery and bought this beauty. Its very slick playing, boasts wonderful tones and the ebony board is just fantastic. Despite the bubinga body, not too heavy either at 9.8 pounds (I had a lovely bubinga Corvette fretless that weighed about 12 pounds and so had to go ...) So here's a couple of pics:
11. Can't believe I am posting a Victor Wooten video but this is pretty cool Spanish style solo bass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ve37F3Ee9Ow&feature=related
12.
Is that a Grooveline as well? There's no fretless version on the Ibanez website...
Yes, same bass. I assume its a custom shop version made for Percy, like his earlier 5-string fretless Ibanez basses were all custom shop
13. I posted this in the Flamenco thread I started but thought it was worth re-posting here in the DB forum as this is such lovely playing, both pizz and (at the end) arco http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXt6htVi3C4
14. Some nice DB playing in Spanish style, even if not strictlyt flamenco, by Renaud Garcia Fons http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXt6htVi3C4

Nic just sold me a modded Boss CS-2 compressor. Arrived superfast and all good! Cheers Nic
16. Looks very like an Aria SWB 03 SHX to me. However, placement of vol/tone differ so maybe its an older version of this EUB? http://www.ariaguita...b/swb03shx.html
17. Certainly looks very pretty. Keep us updated after you've put some decent strings on but sounds really promising
18. Sorry to fans of the guy but the track in the OP is quite the dullest piece of music I've heard since the clutterbuckery of the London Bass Show. Technically amazing but soul-less IMHO
19. I'm now the proud owner of the one thats shown on the Gallery website. Plays beautifully, superb range of sounds and I just love the ebony board http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_details.cfm?ID=2141&type=Bass%20Guitar
20. On a week's trial with another BCer so this is on hold for now
21. After a flurry of three gigs (and a video shoot) in 9 days, there's a short gap until our next gig. This will be at the Apple Tree in Clerkenwell, London (quite close to Farringdon) on Sunday 27 May. Entry is free and the music is roughly from 4-9pm with the last band on at getting-home-friendly 7pm. I believe we will be onstage around 6pm. Here's the website with details: http://www.comedownandmeetthefolks.co.uk/ Here's what we look like: And you can hear what we sound like in the Soundcloud link in my sig. But think nu-folk, country, blues and flamenco in a big bi-lingual melting pot!
22. Thanks Michael, I am really happy with the new band. They are all straightforward nice people, great musicians and even better songwriters. I got lucky big-time
23. Good gig tonight (Bull & Gate, Kentish Town) and an OK turn-out given the dreadful weather. A few feedback problems with DB as I was stood by six-foot high monitors but worked my way round this. Very enjoyable
