Another deal with John, this time he bought a GK combo off me. As ever, excellent, straightforward deal
Thursday 7.30pm at Hammersmith works a treat for me. May the sun shine on you.
OK, there's a McDonalds next to the exit from the Piccadilly Line. C u outside that at 7.30pm tomorrow but I won't be eating there
-
Actually I could do about 7.30pm at Hammersmith on Thursday (tomorrow) as flying off Friday at crack of dawn. Let me know which day works best
-
Although I am indeed heading off to Italy in next couple of days, If you can get to Hammersmith tube station tonight (about 8pm) I could meet you there and lend you back your old combo, Jamie? You would have to hang on to it until some time around middle of next week

Gerald bought my MarkBass F1. He paid mega-fast and was top class with communications. Recommended
There seem to be a lot of people on here that seriously object to non-university educated minimum wage underclass scum such as myself being on the forum.
I hope that was a joke
Hmmm, the band have asked that I play double bass only going forward. This potentially changes matters as regards my Takamine B10 which may just have become redundant. Need to re-think so the Rob Allen is on hold for now.
If I am only gigging DB from now on with the band, my logic for selling the Rob Allen over the Takamine flies out the window. Don't want to make a silly mistake here (given how hard it is to get hold of a Rob Allen this side of the pond and how nice it is to play) so I am withdrawing this from sale.

I periodically unsubscribe to OT and I think its about time I did so again. That said, I don't think there's any more of a morale issue now than there was 1-2 years ago, say. Every so often someone feels motivated to post up something that is just guaranteed to be contentious and it just so happens this tends to go in batches but thats always been the case IMHO. The general economic climate is obviously not conducive to partaying day and night and that probably colours things.

Those red suede and leopard print brothel creepers you were wearing last night just have to be seen on stage, Sean!

Markbass F1 + padded MB gigbag for sale * SOLD *

Looking to sell my MarkBass F1 head as I have picked up a CMD121P combo. I bought it off top dude BC'er Gareth Hughes in February (I think) and - bar a few minor cosmetic scratches on top (perhaps from having a preamp sat on it?) its in excellent condition. I have subsequently acquired a Markbass padded gigbag for it (from Thomann; here's a BC thread with another F1 pictured in the same model of gigbag http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1554859). In total the amp plus gigbag cost me about £490 inc post and I will sell for £450 all-in (ie, amp + gigbag + post within UK).
Public FB album - the quality of photos on FB is crap, I'm afraid. I'll be happy to give you the original files, Clarky, should you like any of the shots. https://www.facebook...=1&l=7ef4530905
Great photos Silvia! Thank you so much for this and glad you enjoyed the gig. Oh and Sean, its true I do have ....

On the grounds that the Stevie Wonder clip I posted above is a bit fizzy/scratchy sounding (mine sounds warmer in real life) here's another clip of a Rob Allen which gives a more representative impression of what a Rob Allen sounds like (this is the short-scale Mouse model but they are very similar) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_iWt-0qTydE

Thank you Silvia for coming along - and of course Sean, Wayne and Alastair! Nice photo

Well it has one tone only and thats a woody, piezo tone. So it sounds 'quite' like a double bass but not exactly. Its not, for example, nasal or middy. Its more rich and rounded... but with a piezo you get out of it what you put in, so your playing style can change the attack and decay of each note. Think of it as a piezo fretless and you will get the best idea of what it sounds like.

I recently acquired this gorgeous bass from German BC'er Markus (BC username Bender) but I have decided I prefer my Takamine B10 as a double bass emulator (and the band really likes the gypsy jazz vibe of the B10 too). I can't really afford to have two DB emulators so I am moving this on. The bass in question is incredibly light (6.5 pounds) and has a very slim, fast neck and a lovely piezo-driven DB-esque tone and the specs, pinched from Markus' FS thread (http://basschat.co.u...l__rob%20allen; has a ton of pics), are as follows: alder body (tort binding) with flamed walnut top (200$ upgrade) maple neck / lined ebony fretboard with side dots matching bound headstock (200$ upgrade) Labella black tape wound strings Protec Contego case There are a few tiny nicks and scrapes (all pictured in Markus' thread) but nothing in any way significant and it could pass for new from a few feet away. I paid Markus' asking price of £1500 plus post and would be looking to recoup this. For an unbiased third party opinion of this, you could always ask BC'er chris_b who came to try it out this morning (he is after a 5-string MB-2)

Slightly annoying buzz when I hit open 'A' string
Get a set of these
The nut slot is too deep for the string so I assume you mean taking down the fingerboard slightly? Hmm, sounds like serious screw-up potential for a handyman numpty like me!!!! -
Yeah I have my pass for tonght ! If you see a confused looking midde aged man in a crumpled Rush Tshirt that'll be me
watching a confused middle aged man with a silly grey mullet trying to figure out which end of a double bass you play
