1. "Who's the knob in the check shirt with a cat on his head?"
2. [sub]Seems logical after his AFR series and Ibanez connections. One uK retailer claims to have the Grooveline in stock BTW http://www.fairdealmusic.co.uk/musical-instruments/guitars-1/bass-guitar/ibanez-g104-nt.html[/sub]
3. All i can say is my bass is older than those two examples and does not have a date stamp. The previous owner before me (BC'er sselterf) dated it as 1981 and based on the serial number (PB1857) that seems right to me (PB1840 and PB1859 the last PB built, two after mine, were both listed as 1981 in the Wal database)
4. I had the 4-string version of this (now owned by Mr Bassman on BC) and its an excellent portable DB. I used it on my last band's mini-tour of Portugal and it was so easy to take off the neck, pack away safely in golf case and then set up again. Really excellent touring instrument
5. The cap must just have dropped off since in the Alembic Club photos all 4 'A's are visible in the second picture I still keep looking at this bass and admiring it!
6. Further pics - foil is copper (which is why it looks brown!), no date on neck (do Wal date necks as I don't recall my last one having a date stamp on the neck either?)

Owen - Feedback

Me again, just recycling back some of my proceeds on the amp by buying some DB strings off Owen. All good again!!!!
8. Just a reminder that my recently joined nu-folk/blues/flamenco (!) band play 93 feet east in Brick Lane, London next Momday. We are the act before headliners, onstage at c.9.30pm for 30-40 minutes. Entrance free and Brick lane boasts a ton of curry houses for those with a liking for spicy food! http://www.93feeteas...Date=2012-04-30 And here's a vid that was done prior to my arrival (music starts after a minute)
9. In answer to question about posting to mainland Europe, I will do this for £75 insured. That is my best guess as to how much it would be, based on the c.£60 cost of sending a couple of basses to Italy and Finland last year, neither of which were insured. If it costs more then its my loss. If it costs less I will refund the difference via paypal. Sound fair?
10. According to this Wal history the last 'Pro' bass was PB1859, by which stage the bass was the Mk 1 in all but name http://www.trevorand...k/history2.html Thus my bass (PB1857) was the third-to-last manufactured Pro bass and can be considered a transition model due to the Mk 1 electronics, headstock etc
11. Post #20 shows a photo of the control cavity I took yesterday. As far as I can see it doesn't mention a date in the handwriting, just the woods involved.
12. Hi, I will take a picture of the back of the neck tonight if it helps ... and if it doesn't stop me watching the Barcelona v Chelsea match! Cheers Clarky
13. Does Grace Jones count? Classic backing by Sly & Robbie
14. The much maligned UB40 (who I generally cannot stand) kicked off with a really good double A-sided single King/Food for Thought. The latter has a really nice bass line. Link below: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNIRBvZugTM
15. Bump with a reminder that this is FS on BassChat only if there are no bids on eBay (auction ends Friday, 41 watchers and two PMs saying they want to bid, one indicating he only bids in the last few minutes). However, I really would wish this to go to a BCer!
16. Just had a message through eBay as follows (PS, my weight was out by 0.05kg and I have over 200 positive feedbacks!): Hi, one of your weights is obviously out as there are 2.2 pounds per kilo. What's the serial number please? I can't see the point of deliberately omitting it unless you have stolen goods or similar. Anyone honest can be completely up front about essential details such as this. Do you think a gang of wal addicted ninjas will track you down and break in? I'm not bidding a penny without the full details mate. Who would spring circa £3K when the seller makes himself look dodgy???
17. Have a bump on me. That is such a good looking bass and it sounds great in the clip, really nice cutting sound
18. Hey Chris, I think this answers your comment!
I had the pleasure of A/B-ing this 4-string fretless against the more-or-less identical 4-string fretless I bought from Clarky last year. This bass is every bit as good as mine, and is a delight to play. Just like mine, it has the ability to make you forget that you're playing a "fretless" and remember that you're playing a bass.
19. Nice one. Hope you are happy with it. Mine is fab
20. Pic of control cavity plus a moody shot of bass in case
21. Here it is in its case. I will add a picture of electronics cavity later (when I've taken it!)
22. Up to 34 watchers now on eBay. Would rather this lovely bass stayed "in the family" than go to a nameless eBayer so is anyone potentially interested? The one thing that might sway me trade-wise is a p/x against an Alembic but there would need to be a decent slug of cash my way
23. Also for sale now on Alembic Club at a grand more than here (£4k) http://alembic.com/club/messages/395/129373.html?1335114026
