You don't know that. You just think it.
I think you'll find you're talking to yourself here as the ferret was banned from this forum a couple of years back!

Thats a great new take on the classic 50s Precision design. Lovely! Congratulations

As we have so many trades I thought I'd just copy the Beedster's latest bit of feedback for me and just change the names ******************** Guess what.......... As ever, it's a joy as well as a reminder of the old school BC values to deal with [s]Clarky[/s] Chris. There is no better bloke on here to deal with. We have decided to set up a high speed expedited uberlink between our bank accounts to save time in future! C(larky)
This is rare opportunity to own one of these Baby Basses in such good condition. It still has the original aluminium bridge and pick up assembly where many examples have had broken bridges replaced with wood.
many thanks Keith. I genuinely consider this to be, despite the £2k price tag, remarkable value given the amazing condition

Buying amps online - two in a row faulty - gah!
Clarky replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
Update: despite having had faulty Markbass amp back in their hands for two weeks and emailing me on 12th April to say they would refund asap, Thomann have still not refunded me. I emailed yesterday to ask why and they said the relevant department was "under-staffed" and that they would get on the case (but with no timescale attached) On the other amp, GuitarGuitar sent me returns forms yesterday morning and by lunchtime had picke dup the faulty Phil Jones combo. So far they have acted pretty swiftly so I am hopeful that they will show the customer service that has been lacking so far from Thomann -

Owen just bought an Acoustic Image amp from me. He was quick to rectify a small banking glitch and was an absolute pleasure to deal with

Ahem, having just bought an old German 19C flatback I would like to raise some money (my Alleva Coppolo sale didn't cover the cost of the incoming bass) and I really can't see me needing three double basses. So this is back up for sale at an uber-reasonable (not to say cheap) £2,000 collected from me. Please don't kick me!

Bought new off Mark at BassDirect about two months ago and never left house. Great little cab for DB and acoustic bass and for small electric rigs. Comes with ludicrously over-priced custom padded EA carry-bag in fetching black and red! I paid £550 plus post for both. Yours for £420 posted or £400 collected in West London. Here's the BassDirect page: http://www.bassdirec...ts/EA_Cabs.html No real point putting up photos of mine as its completely as-new and just as shown in BassDirect pics!
I play in an acoustic band and we all use amplification. So, that's my recommendation.
Ditto

I just bought a lovely old 19c double bass from Emlyn. He was very accommodating throughout (drove down from Leeds to Watford to stay with friends to facilitate handover) and thoroughly charming. Another one to add to the ranks of friendly, trustworthy BC'ers to do business with

Clarky replied to Clarky's topic in General Discussion
In a fit of righteous indignation I am just going to get another refund rather than a replacement (I say "another refund" but the first from Thomann hasn't arrived and GuitarGuitar haven't sent me the returns forms despite me phoning and emailing them ....) I am going to stick with my MarkBass amp and two Wizzy cabs as those work just fine (not as good as Acoustic Image for my double bass ... but good enough) -
I tried some PJBs in the Gallery a couple of years ago.
Bit late for me! Anyways, I think its reasonable to expect that a brand new "high end" amp would arrive at my home in working condition -
Go to an actual music shop and try an actual amp?
No shop anywhere near me stocks Markacoustic or Phil Jones amps. I went ahead and ordered on the basis of lots of web research and the (mistaken) assumption that the QC departments of these companies do their jobs properly -
Hi BRX, I can't make that day unfortunately but will be interested in your feedback on the venue as we are playing there 5 days later

In the search for the perfect DB combo I recently bought a MarkBass Markacoustic combo from Thomann. It arrived swiftly but had some sort of electrical fault as it made a horrible rumbling distorted sound whenever I played a note on my DB. That went back. Disgruntled, I decided to try the much lauded Phil Jones next and ordered a Super Flightcase from Guitar Guitar. That arrived yesterday and today I find the limiter does not work (light doesn't come on and turning the dial makes no difference to sound). Gah! Now that will have to go back. Returns policies are all well and good but its a pain to have to re-pack, to be in all day to wait for pickup and then to have to wait for refund (still waiting on Thomann 2 weeks later). I wish QC would spot these issues before they are shipped out to unsuspecting customers. Rant over

Storming last set chaps. The old P bass sounded fab, especially on the more 'trad' songs (Folsom Prison etc) and MacDaddy is the new Carlos Santana

Urgh, don't you just hate bulging 'outy' belly buttons? Or am I just a prejudiced bellybuttonist bigot?

I should be there for the last (11pm) set so save the best ones til the end!

These are excellent - Minotaur from Greece - about £30-40 and arrived within a few days. Top quality and able to deal with heavy basses (I have a dodgy shoulder and back) http://minotaur.gr/catalog/index.php?cPath=28&osCsid=kea90j8ah0o229867kdh25ar02
