1. I just bought a combo from Thomann, listed as B stock. Tried it out this evening and it is faulty. Just produces a low rumbling ultra-distorted sound that varies in volume, and thats using a double bass as well as an electric bass. Am guessing thats why it was returned and the store haven't had it fixed presumably by accident (or maybe the guy returning didn't alert them to the fault)??? Very hacked off as will have to arrange return and refund etc. Just a quick question though - I presume the usual returns policy applies here? I know Thomann have a good reputation but is there anything I need to watch out for here? The item was not cheap (c£700) so I am a bit nervous. FYI, the ad said "Retoured item. Full warranty."
2. I don't need any more amplification but would be prepared to p/x this against a 4-string bass (I have twp Ps, so either a US/RWJazz or US Stingray, but be warned I'm fussy over colours!!!!)
3.
I gig with one of these with my Washburn AB40SH Acoustic Bass and it really is the dogs bollox, sounds great paired with my Eden 2x10. Yes it has a few bells and whistles which I don't use but so do most amps. Run it through a Sansamp or effects pedals and you've got yourself a great powerful lightweight rig for electric bass too. I'm sorely tempted to buy this just in case I ever need another one. I can't really justify it though.
Thanks Purpolaris. In fact I will happily keep this amp if I alternatively sell my Markbass F1. I only need one amp and I'm not fussed which one I keep as they are both excellent for electric and DB. Hence I've put the F1 up for sale this morning and will keep which ever one doesn't sell http://basschat.co.uk/topic/172096-fs-markbass-f1-custom-bag-or-acoustic-image-clarus%3B-which-ever-goes-first/
4. I have two great amps that can each be used for electric or DB and I only need one. I have put my Acoustic Image Clarus+ amp up for sale on the DB forum but would happily hang on to that and sell my Markbass F1, I'm really not fussed which one I keep. I bought my F1 off BC'er Gareth Hughes recently and - bar a few minor cosmetic scratches on top (perhaps from having a preamp sat on it?) its in excellent condition. I have subsequently acquired a Markbass padded gigbag for it (from Thomann; at BassDirect these cost £80 http://www.bassdirec...s/MB_GB_TC.html). In total the amp plus gigbag cost me about £490 inc post and I will sell for £450 all-in (ie, amp + gigbag + post within UK). Basically, if the F1 sells first I will withdraw the Clarus+ and vice-versa.
5. Thanks MS! I am not looking for rig trades here as I have enough amplification.

7.
Nice one Clarky, I'm going to try and get to the 93 Feet East gig now the East London Line is running!
Thanks Mark, hope to see you then. Curry on the menu too, given the venue!
8. Cheers Rick, here's the soundcloud page so you can listen to the six-track EP gratis http://soundcloud.com/all-the-queens-ravens
9. Here are the upcoming gigs with my new band. I will just update this thread as and when: 30 April 93 Feet East, Brick Lane, London 5 May (Venue?), Dalston, London 9 May Bull & Gate, Kentish Town, London 17 May The Apple Tree, Kings Cross, London 22 Jun Wilmington Arms, London 21 July 'Lost Weekend' festival, Rutland Water
10. PS, also selling a virtually brand-new (as in ungigged, never left house, only a few hours on it) EA Wizzy 10 cab. The two paired together would be an awesome DB rig. The separate sale prices are £675 + £425 (a total of £1,100) - I would lop £75 off this if they went together, ie, £1,025 posted
11. I have seen Case Hardin, Dick Venom, Jetsonics and (the end of the set of) the Junkyard Dogs. All very entertaining in their different ways and genres. I would like to see loads of BCers bands but Dressed to Kill tops my list for sheer fun value \m/
12. I bought this off BC'er eubassix only a couple of weeks ago but its not for me. I bought it as a London transport-friendly combo for my DB and acoustic bass but - while it fits the size criterion nicely - I am not 100% on the tone (a bit chorus-y for me). Jazzers use to love these and the reviews on the web are great (eg, http://www.harmonyce.../products/92612) £[s]275 [/s]£250 plus post please (I paid David/eubassix £300 plus post) Here's a pic of one very similar (but rather more battered than mine): Manual: http://www.gallien-k...nuals/200mb.pdf 200MB Specifications Max Input Level 9v rms Sensitivity (400hz) Power 100w@4ohms Effects Send 750mv rms into 22k for full power Effects Return 750mv rms into 12k for full power Extension Speakers 200MB 8 ohms with internal speaker on 4 ohms with internal speaker off 200MB Weight 24lbs. Dimensions 13.75'' x 15'' x 3.5'' Speakers 1x12''
13. Reviving this FS thread. My excellent condition Acoustic Image Clarus+ - around a year or so old - up FS. 800W at 4 ohms, twin channel (so can run mic and piezo). New price was £995. Will do for £675. Nothing better for DB but I don't need all its functionality, especially as my new gig is with my Takamine acoustic bass, not my DBs. Comes with padded gigbag. 14. Nice bass. Might be worth adding the weight as these bubinga bodied Warwicks vary enormously from the perfectly manageable to humungously heavy!!!!
15.
Time for a change of avatar Mr Clark
Good point Nige, as I am no longer a zombie. And as if by magic ....
16. I also received this but didn't click on the link as I was suspicious
17. If it helps, I paid a shade over £3k for my year-of-birth '63 Precision. An all-original would have been in the £4.5-5k range when I was looking. Si Clifton (BC'er 0353203 http://basschat.co.uk/user/8856-0353203/) is your man on sourcing pre-CBS Precsions from his network of dealer mates in the US. He sourced Happy Jack's 1957 and 1965 (?) Precisions and my '63 and is a thoroughly decent guy
18. A +1 for the Wizzy 12 cab - I have one and its a marvellous combination of power and clean, uncoloured sound. Good luck with the sale
19. They seemed very pleased - and especially chuffed that I managed the gig despite jetlag! Their FB page mentions the "excellent new bassist"
20. I also heard back from Paul this week and was told the build time for a fretted neck would be 19 months Yes you read that right - 19 MONTHS!
