* MAYBE NOT SUCH A GOOD IDEA! PLEASE DELETE*
Clarky replied to Clarky's topic in EUBs & Double Basses For Sale
The spec sheet says it's 32 pounds which sounds OK, but then I guess a lot depends on how it is carried (where handles are etc). Most of the time it wouldn't be public transport ... but the rehearsal venue for my new band is out of the way in SE London and I won't always have the car available to me on those days. So it would be very occasionally that I would be on trains etc -

How could I forget the Damned? New Rose and, even better, Love Song (great bass line)

A selection of Clash, Ramones, Pistols, Stranglers and some more left-field ones (eg, some Buzzcocks and Magazine) and you are sorted. Too many songs to mention but I'd defo have London Calling as the opener
Hey Clarky Why.not get yourself a Ten ex and keep your amp. It amounts to pretty much the same thing.
hi there, it's something I had thought about but the advantages of the combo are easier portability (important if I have to use London transport) plus the head pops out if you need to use a different cab. When I last contacted AI Europe they had no combo conversion kits (which was the first option I investigated) as they are introducing a new series (IV I think) -
Auditioned for a fab new band last night ... and got it!!!

Just a quick thank you to everyone for your kind words Now I'd better not f*ck up the gig next Friday at the Hootananny... so some serious learning to be done! -
I have the Clarus+ two-channel head which goes to 800w at 2 ohms and sounds fantastic with DB. Its in vgc. I would love to have the exact same head in a loud combo, ie, the Ten2 combo. Does anyone fancy trading their Ten2 for my amp, perhaps someone that wants a more modular system to match the amp with different cabs? There would be cash your way of course given the difference in value. Expecting to draw a blank here but you never know!

This is them recently, sans bass http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6BIzJjnXTgo And with their old bass player (who has gone to Australia to be musical director of an orchestra in Sydney) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jLPuCpXlLo8&feature=related -
After the disappointment of leaving Rattlin Bone, I took stock for a couple of weeks and then spotted an ad on Gumtree for a really eclectic band that mixes folk, blues, country and flamenco with two quite incredible lady singers. The band is called All The Queens Ravens. They have a six-track EP out with all of the tracks on Soundcloud (link below). Anyways, I auditioned last night, played pretty well, got on with the band, and was offered the role. The advert was for a double bass player but it looks like I will be using my Takamine B10 acoustic bass as the band really loved its gypsy vibe (I auditioned with both instruments). First gig is at the Hootananny in Brixton a week tomorrow (Friday 23 March). I am VERY excited about this http://soundcloud.com/all-the-queens-ravens

Doh! Thats why I was rubbish at slapping. No hat Jack, on the other hand, has a hat ...

Oops, your eyesight is better than mine! Maybe the most recent owner decided a bit of modification was needed Alternatively its a different bass -
Now this looks remarkably like the one formerly owned by Silverfoxnik, Happy Jack and I http://www.thebassgallery.com/product_details.cfm?ID=2202&type=Bass%20Guitar
I like the one with the Dubouchet duet with the red faced chap playing the banjo. Can't find it now but hope someone will post it. Mrs Crap DB Player said she thought he was possibly the scariest looking musician she's ever seen (the banjo player that is), and she's lived with me a fair few years so has met a few!
Hey! I had my hair cut for that video clip

The Cordes Lambert guy, Nicolas Dubouchet, is awesome and the most musical slapper to my ears Here he is in laid back mode http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bE4jxKZdgE Gypsy jazzing http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQTISGj6Qzk&feature=related

Incidentally Jack, your action (higher than my ultra-low) and strings (Silver Slaps) are good for slapping, so its just down to technique. I have the same DVD mentioned in Geddys nose's post above which you are most welcome to borrow

Swine, what harm did your bass ever do to you? But more seriously I had an excellent lesson with BC's PaulKing last week immediately after picking up that DB bow from you. He's in Acton, very nice, can be plied with red wine (Chianti works), and awfully good at slapping. I left just about able to slap Johnny Cash-stylee (eg, Folsom Prison Blues). I could show you but I am still too rubbish. Paul is yer man
