1. If you check the items wanted forum, there's a BCer ( username Old Horse Murphy) who may be after this. I would drop him a PM
2. Bump!
3. In answer to OP question ... ... Because there's a lot of w@nkers out there Sad but true. Sorry Barrie but something way better will turn up. Forget them as they will probably treat the new bass guy just as disdainfully and you will probably be best out of it
4. Re- think of price. Was £380 posted but have cut to £340 posted which is a truly hefty saving from new, especially given custom gig bag. Collected is £15 less, ie, £325
5. Fabulous strings - I think of them as the TI flats of DB, as in low tension, easy to play and sound great. Have a bump on me!
6. I have used this as my travel bass for a few years but, as I am always practising for bands with 4 string bass lines, the 5th string just annoys me! It's in vgc (just one corner very minorly dented) and comes with a very hard to find fitted Ritter gig bag. Cheapest I can find online is £500 http://www.incredibid.co.uk/acatalog/Hohner_B2A_Headless_Bass_Walnut.html and that's without the gig bag. I will sell for £340 including post in UK. No pics as I am out of UK now but it's the walnut stain finish and looks identical to the one in the link.
7. I have a Rev Solo 2 that I recently bought from PaulKing but which, TBH, doesn't sound any better on my Kolstein than the Planet Wing which was already installed. You are welcome to borrow that if interested, Laurence? Would be end of next week as I'm typing this out of the country and not back in blighty until Tuesday.
8.
Dude, buy Emlyn's bass, however you do this it's going to be a leap of faith to an extent. You're welcome to come down here and play my GF (that's German Flatback not Girl Friend) any time. OK, it won't be the same for sure, but it might provide a comparison? C
Cheers Chris, I have been in contact with Emlyn and we'll see what happens
9. Bump. £100 discount to any BCer that I have done previous business with as I have found the DB I am after and need to replenish the coffers
10. I am hugely tempted by Emlyn's c1880 German bass but just wanted to check if there's anything else out there that fits my criteria ... And budget of no more than £3k!!!
11. Sounds lovely in the clips, Emlyn. Would it come with a case or gig bag and is this cash sale only (ie, no trades )?
12. Thanks 4 Candles. Its a beauty but I barely play 5 string and I'd like a nice old DB more
13. Fair point about Squiers and different market ... But I am guessing Bob Babbitt has influenced many more than Pino Palladino for example and didn't Fender CS recently launcha limited ed signature in skuzzy black for some bassist I for one had never heard of?
14. It pretty much exactly fulfills my criteria in the search I have on BC but the distance is tricky. hence I'm really looking forward to the YouTube footage Emlyn
15. Thanks again Jack. And a bump from me too
16. Potentially interested. I am out of country right now but are you down in London again any time soon?
17. I had the maple Spoiler wjich I sold to Deaver beacuse I was in a punk band and they thought it looked tOo poncey and muso (but it was fabulous). I then got the black Spoiler which was punk-acceptable and looked rock (I am a big metallica fan) but unofortunately weighed close to 12 pounds and my back couldn't cope with it. I have had a search going on the Alembic Club forum for a lighter black Spoiler for six months now with no joy.
18. Acoustic Image head now on hold so Markbass withdrawn
19. My favourite Alembics of the 4 I have owned (Series 1, 2 x Spoilers, Europa 5'er) were the less complex Spoilers. The electronics were not so scary, the build quality still top notch (albeit without the fancy marquetry) and the sound covered from Stanley Clarke through to Metallica. You can get Spoilers s/h for about $2-2.5k and if you don't like, sell on for about the same. To me a low risk way of trying out the Alembic experience. I wish I still had a Spoiler
20. Hi Martin, if I can be cheeky - here is Jack's photo album of the bass, done not long before I bought it (the bass is in the same excellent condition now) http://m1128.photobucket.com/albums/h4ppyjack/Alleva%20Coppolo%20KBP5%202009%20CURRENT/?sa=true
21.
You know Pete Wentz has one too don't you?
