1. Sorry I'm distracted, love. I just don't know how to tell Bilbo we are going to encore with Moondance
2. Looks like BassDirect has the amp in stock http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/EBS_Amplification.html
3. "And I thought she'd be impressed that I played guitar on Chesney Hawkes' 'The One and Only'"
4. Been a while bump!
5. [sup]"FFS love, I never knew the cover of Astral Weeks was so engrossing. Are you trying to tell me something?"[/sup]
6. Are we even sure those are his real legs? They look like they are from a ventriloquists' dummy, sewed on to the bottom of his jacket. I think his real legs and lower torso are hidden inside the fake chair. Perhaps the ad was directed by David Lynch?

Nice bass. As an FYI, at the current exchange rate, Euro 2800 = £2,350 so you could amend the £2500 mentioned in your title, which may attract more interest
8. Played this for an hour last night. It really is a fabulous bass with a lovely slick ebony neck. For those without problems carrying a heavy bass, this is a genuinely superb fretless at an amazing price
9. The long taught Simandl method uses only the first, second and fourth fingers to 'fret', with the third finger acting as a support for the fourth finger. Like any other instrument, as the years have gone on new styles have developed and many more contemporary players finger a DB similarly to an electric bass. It is important to have your left wrist and forearm angle correct (your elbow should be elevated, not dangling loosely, in a sort of arrow shape) to maintain positioning and stamina.
10. Dougal's blonde PJ then?
11. For those who had not spotted it, there is a trade option in the OP against a MarkBass F1 head
12. Fretless Rickenbacker perhaps (like the Lindisfarne clip you posted, WoT?) ... thats assuming its not a PJ at all
13. Hi Gwilym, interested in a trade for my minty (but heavy; bubinga!) Warwick Corvette fretless with a cash top-up from me?
14. Hope dougal doesn't mind me pinching his pics from his FS ad:
15. Got this off BCer dougal last month but I simply cannot cope with the 5.4kg (11.8 pounds) weight. It's in fabulous, near mint condition, plays beautifully and has a lovely thick unlined ebony board. Strung with new Status Hotwire half rounds. I'm looking to get back the total bargain £400 I paid (a new Korean Pro Series in the same spec costs over a grand!). Comes with Rockbag, documentation file, body wax, strap locks etc. Pickup preferred in London. If this is not possible I will post ... but I will give it time first to see if anyone can meet me. By way of background (and discussion over whether this is German or Korean made), see dougal's FS thread: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1471034 Not looking for bass trades as I have enough. Might consider a trade for a vgc MarkBass F1 amp.
16.
Nice Clarky - when does she arrive?
It depends on how quickly banks transfer money and how quickly the seller ships from Germany - best guess is late next week. Can't wait!
17. Hope this doesn't jinx the deal! http://basschat.co.u...62225_thumb.jpg
18. Thanks walplayer - reassuring to hear as I am buying without trying, since the bass is in Germany. I have had 17 detailed photos and it looks a beaut
19. It turns out (from the Wal database) that the late, great Mick Karn's tulipwood 'Mach 1' fretless is in fact also a transition bass with a PB (Pro Series) serial number. Hence I have no qualms about how the (hopefully incoming) fretless will sound
20. A P-Retro will give you more variety out of your Precision (check out YT vid) without affecting the value of your bass, as it retrofits neatly and can easily be reversed if needs be.
21. Nothing gear-wise as I've just tracked down a fretless Mach 1 Wal and have two good rigs (one electric, one DB). If anything I now have too much gear and I may be a net seller this year (the uber-heavy Corvette fretless has to go for sure)I do GAS for more gigs in 2012 as the logistic constraints of Rattlin Bone (we are spread from the South Coast to Scotland) plus some illnesses in the band kept us to only a handful of gigs after a flurry of summer festival dates. Here GAS is of course gig acquisition syndrome
22. Superb cocobolo top and Loz really looks after his gear. For an Alembic fan it really doesn't get much better than this. PS, Loz, it might be worth alerting jazzyvee via PM as I recall he was very impressed by this bass
