1.
BC'er and pro DB player Gareth Hughes is very happy with his Thomann bass. If you drop him a PM I am sure he will be happy to point you in the direction of the model he has, which cost well under £1000
I found the post Gareth wrote about the Thomann bass - see #3 in this thread http://basschat.co.uk/topic/160774-wanted-affordable-34-double-bass/page__p__1444202#entry1444202
2. This is a relatively cheap option - the Nikki Sixx Thunderbird £249 at DV247 http://www.dv247.com/guitars/epiphone-nikki-sixx-blackbird-bass-guitar-pitch-black--42168
3. Well I watched the Sky+ playback and - sorry to say - I didn't spot any swing jazz band Was it the programme with the lady serving up 'posh' fish 'n chips who literally and metaphorically had a huge chip on her shoulder?
4. A white Hamer Explorer for full on 80s Def Leppard-ishness
5. Explorer type bass - Def Leppard Thunderbird - UFO Fender P - Iron Maiden Fender Jazz - Judas Priest

7. Have a good'un Nige. Was good to catch up recently and I will get to see you swinging those flares live one day - this Saturday its a pre-Xmas 'do' though
8.
Hi attackbass I if you do a search on Thomann basses you will find that there are some pros that have had good experiences with the Thomann basses on this forum.
BC'er and pro DB player Gareth Hughes is very happy with his Thomann bass. 9. [sup]Its sold already. I did have pangs about buying it back but not enough funds currently[/sup]
10. Beautiful, Nick. Good luck with the sale mate. I take it the opportunity is large and DB-shaped?
11. Christophe bought my Alleva LG4. He was very straight and above-board in all his dealings. Lots of communication from France, even though English is not his mother tongue, and he even drafted a detailed bill of sale for us both to sign. Very trustworthy guy and I recommend him should he ever buy or sell again through BassChat.
12. Now that I'm down to 3 basses (assuming we aren't including uprights), having been up to 6 a short while ago, its time to update my vote here and resuscitate this thread
13. Playing my first DB gig with Rattlin Bone, to a big and appreciative crowd .... never having played DB live before and having broken my left hand in a couple of places only 17 days before. To get through the gig, and to see people dancing and smiling throughout, was just such an incredible buzz
14. Chris Horton has had an Items Wanted thread going for quite a few weeks, looking for a UL210 8 ohm - I would drop him a PM
15. This would be cool http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/OZARK-ELECTRO-ACOUSTIC-RESONATOR-FRETLESS-BASS-GUITAR-JAH-1114-/350512304468?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item519c295154
16. Ooops, apologies. Appears it sold last week
17. Try halving your budget and buy Beedster's Eko acoustic. Looks the part (very gypsy), big bodied and sounds quite DB-ish as acoustic basses go. £200 including gigbag and K&K pickup. Bargain!
18. [sub]Bumpity bump. Afraid I cannot envisage posting for now as it would be quite awkward to pack (especially given the long-ish stand) and the lovely Mrs Clarky has pretty much had enough of hanging around all day waiting for Interparcel to pick up one of my packages (which is entirely fair when you look at the number of items I have traded on BassChat). So its pickup in London only I'm afraid[/sub]
19. Cool - I imagine it will be a wrench after all those years playing a Shergold fretless 4 stringer! I really like the headstock on RIM basses
20. Nice one Tim! Glad to have seen you guys play live before fame and fortune went to your heads
21.
I did send a PM to Chris but had no reply, not sure wether there is a problem with messenger
I know from past experience he is sometimes on shows out of London and doesn't always check in to BC frequently. Plus some people just don't notice when they have PMs on the new website (the little red number top right is easy to miss IMHO). I think I may have his mobile number so will see if I can dig it out for you
22. Chris Kelly in SE London (BC name chrkelly) - pro DB'er and very nice guy (although I've not had lessons with him) or I can personally vouch for lessons from jakesbass who is based in Surrey (maybe a bit too far for him but doesn't hurt to PM)
23. Bump! £100 for a quality PA monitor with all the paraphernalia .... Or a very good head-height DB speaker
