1. Many thanks gents, I think I got it for a steal of a price but I am spreading the BC love! I prefer collection/meet-up and will leave this running a few days on this basis. However, if I end up posting, please be aware that I have given a BC'er who contacted me today first dibs.
2. Great, thanks for that. Going to have a try-out this weekend as it looks a very sensible methodology
3. I am rationalising my two bass rigs into one (see Aguilar TH500 sale separately in this sub-forum) and am cutting down to one small cab (my Acoustic Image Focus) and one larger cab (my new Acme B2 2x10). My truly excellent Euphonic Audio Wizzy 12 cab cab sits uneasily between the two, capability-wise, hence I am selling it. Its the loud 4 ohm version, is in excellent condition and - since I bought it from BC's BB2000 (John) last May - I have acquired a padded cover for it (in which it has always been stored). I am looking for £200 (what I paid John but now includes the padded cover) but don't have a box large enough to post, hence collection/meet-up in London only Here is BB2000's FS thread (if thats OK?) which includes photos and specs: http://basschat.co.u..._1#entry1231417
4. Hi all, I have two rigs and its frankly OTT. Given I am only gigging DB currently I am going to stick with my Acoustic Image Clarus+ head and sell my Aguilar TH500. The TH500 is as new, has never left my house and has only a few hours play on it. I haven't bought the gigbag (as I have a Mono amp bag) and I threw away the packaging (not enough space to store all my boxes). However it will be securely packed. £490 posted or £480 collected/meet-up in London (I am near Hammersmith) It looks completely mint, so here is a stock pic:
5. This Rabbath method looks very interesting for someone (ie, me!) Who can lose his way on the 'fretboard' when moving up and down the neck of a DB. Two questions though, Fatback: In the vid, Sturm teaches first position with the first fingered note on the G string as an A. If you wanted to, say, play G# followed by A, would you use your first finger for both and slide from one note to the next (which I assume as it maintains integrity of overall hand/thumb position)? And in the second position, is your thumb opposite (using the G string again) the C or C# (I am assuming the latter, so your first finger falls naturally on C)? Cheers Clarky
6. This is now on hold, pending a meet-up in next 2 weeks
7. Sloppy thirds in Hammersmith, OK Jigster?
8.
OT......They reckon Clark Gable was built like a hoose end....
Ah, maybe thats what they shouted at my last gig ... I thought it was "Clarky you play like a horse's @rse"
9. I'm not good enough - hasn't stopped me The cats of SW London have all packed their bags and left ....
10. [sup]I have had a possible offer to ship this to mainland Europe. However, for the time being I prefer a face-to-face handover[/sup]
11. Bent bit of tin The standard Fender bridge, as opposed to high mass bridges, Badass etc
12. This 1981 'transition' (PB serial number but early Mk 1, like Mick Karn's) fretless beauty should be with me by the weekend or early next week
13. Thanks deksawyer! The good news is its being picked up tomorrow and I may even get it for the weekend Here it is in its case
14. Sorry I'm distracted, love. I just don't know how to tell Bilbo we are going to encore with Moondance
15. Looks like BassDirect has the amp in stock http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/EBS_Amplification.html

18. [sup]"FFS love, I never knew the cover of Astral Weeks was so engrossing. Are you trying to tell me something?"[/sup]
19. Are we even sure those are his real legs? They look like they are from a ventriloquists' dummy, sewed on to the bottom of his jacket. I think his real legs and lower torso are hidden inside the fake chair. Perhaps the ad was directed by David Lynch?

Nice bass. As an FYI, at the current exchange rate, Euro 2800 = £2,350 so you could amend the £2500 mentioned in your title, which may attract more interest
21. Played this for an hour last night. It really is a fabulous bass with a lovely slick ebony neck. For those without problems carrying a heavy bass, this is a genuinely superb fretless at an amazing price
22. The long taught Simandl method uses only the first, second and fourth fingers to 'fret', with the third finger acting as a support for the fourth finger. Like any other instrument, as the years have gone on new styles have developed and many more contemporary players finger a DB similarly to an electric bass. It is important to have your left wrist and forearm angle correct (your elbow should be elevated, not dangling loosely, in a sort of arrow shape) to maintain positioning and stamina.
23. Dougal's blonde PJ then?
24. For those who had not spotted it, there is a trade option in the OP against a MarkBass F1 head
