Music shops, interesting places to visit in Ealing/Shepherd's Bush
Clarky replied to steve-soar's topic in General Discussion
There's nothing around there I would recommend. Why not hop on the Hammersmith & City line a couple of stops to Ladbroke Grove and wander along Portobello Road? Otherwise you will need to wander much further afield for decent music shops -

After some hefty outgoings and the failure to sell my Herbie Flowers Jazz, I have to be a bit brutal in what I need and what I just like owning because it's a gorgeous thing. This wonderful bass falls into the latter camp as I am not gigging electric basses right now (upright only with Rattlin Bone) and my recent recording sessions on electric have all been with my 1963 Precision. It's a big shame as I owned this bass once before, sold it to Happy Jack, missed owning it, and bought it back again a couple of months ago (before I ran into car theft, unexpected tax demands etc) Enough boo hoo, this is one of the last two fully handmade AC's to leave Jimmy Coppolo's NYC workshop (in 2008) before he upped and moved operations to California. BC stalwart lozbass owned both basses before selling this one on (he kept the sonic blue LG4 that is the object of several BC'ers fantasies!). His original FS ad (appended below) includes all the specs. This one is quite gorgeous in appearance (wonderful nitrocellulose sunburst, chocolate coloured rare DN board) and amazing array of sounds. It has two tiny lacquer dings on the headstock and a small one ( that could be buffed out) near the jack socket. Otherwise it's in astounding condition. Comes in Protec gig bag. I am typing this from abroad so am linking to one of the pics from Jack's website ( hope that's OK Jack?) to give you an impression of how truly beautiful this bass is: http://i53.tinypic.com/2lbyjd5.jpg Loz' original FS ad: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/100561-sold-alleva-coppolo-lg4-3ts-dn-board/ I am after £2500 cash, no trades for obvious reasons. I will withdraw this if my Herbie Flowers Jazz sells, which would be my preference. Right now only offering collection/meet up in London.

Sam bought a compressor pedal from me. Fast payment and fuss-free deal. All good!

I got this recently from Happy Jack for a short term arrangement. Need to raise some cash and as my FS basses haven't sold, I am putting this up for sale too. Looking for what I paid which is £450. Its Alex' first ever Big One and, while showing some signs of being used (but not abused) functions perfectly - that is its a very loud, one-cab solution (15"/6") that is in perfect working order. Given the size, would need to be collected from West London (Hammersmith way). Here is Jack's ad with details http://basschat.co.u...e/page__hl__big Here's some rather glowing reviews on BC for those unfamiliar with this cab http://basschat.co.u...efaced-big-one/

My opinion is coloured by the godawful Clutterbuckery that took place on the Saturday of the last one (I gather it was better noise regulated on the Sunday). I am more likely to go if a bunch of BC mates are there so will check nearer the time (it's only 10 minutes from where I live so I have the luxury of not having to worry about travel)

Anyone else care to take a listen and pass judgment, good or bad? We're proud of this one and just learned it's going to be played on Spanish national radio (their Radio 3) by DJ El Sotano - just wish UK national radio would give it a play too!
Having dropped a bunch of weight this year (eating less & exercising more, incredibly) here's me at soundcheck yesterday. Say it with flowers!
Tim, you are virtually half the man I saw at the Half Moon in Putney ... in a good way! -
I've emailed about a half a dozen times to his management team (you can't send CDs) with an array of attention-grabbing titles (eg, Top-rated UK voodoo swamp blues band with zombie clowns, what's not to like?). Heard nada back. I suspect you neeed promoters behind you to do some palm-greasing
