1. Best of luck! However I bet I wasn't the only one that thought from the title this was another of those flouncing off, "I'm leaving BassChat" threads that ends up with the protagonist being flamed for being too sensitive ("It's only a an internet forum, blah blah")
2.
If this had a rosewood fingerboard - I'd now be handing over the dosh - type bump!!
There's a rosewood boarded Hot Rod at the Bass Gallery (check their website) Meanwhile bump for a really nice looking bass
3. Wonder why they said nothing? Here's Nigel's band by the way, folks:
4. Make some lovely Thunderbird-alikes and I know chris_b rates his PJ5 very highly http://www.bassdirect.co.uk/bass_guitar_specialists/Mike_Lull_On_order.html
5. Don't give up Al - advertise for a drummer (or lean on your ex-drummer to find a dep, playing the he-owes-you card) and keep the rest of the band together. You can rehearse without drummers (drum machine, tapes, click track) to keep the band motivated. Best of luck mate.
6. Had just over two weeks off this summer in sun/beach locations and it was staggering how my callouses disappeared with swimming/lack of playing etc. The first rehearsal back was a painful blister-wracked affair
7. I'm 48 and I still live in hope of making it!
8. Hey Nige, if by any chance it doesn't arrive in time, I can lend you one of my basses mate
9. At least it wasn't dull! Well done for carrying it through ... And surviving to tell the tale! The next gig will almost detainly be a sedate affair:)
10.
Also, let's hear it for two DB players who died in their twenties and had already made a massive difference to the way the DB is played - Jimmy Blanton (24) and Scott LaFaro (26). Who knows how DB playing would be today had they lived to a good age. The latter died in a car crash ten days after recording possibly the greatest jazz trio album ever - Bill Evans Live at the Village Vanguard.
Absolutely. Scott LaFaro is my favorite DB player and the Village Vanguard albums my favorite jazz albums (I recommend the hard-to-find full unedited album with off-takes, interrupted takes etc). I even have the Kolstein LaFaro bass as my own mini tribute. Amazing player who revolutionised DB playing in only a few short years
11. I have this combo and unfortunately have not gigged it so can't answer about volume. However, from home use I have no doubt it's mighty loud! I like the amp a lot, I find it quite versatile, going from clean to warm and overdriven. A great rock amp IMHO

Gone.

As I said a few posts earlier (and a few months back), this is a wonderful playing and sounding bass but its the CAR finish - with silver streaks showing through the relic'ing that really makes this stand out from the crowd. Whoever gets this will not be disappointed
13. Feaster red apparently! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/JAY-TURSER-JTB-40-FR-FEASTER-RED-BASS-GUITAR-NEW-/250653034612
14. Larry Taylor - great DB underpinning of Tom Waits and also bassist for Canned Heat ... not to mention he apparently played the bass on Last train to Clarksville!
15. Just googled and there's one on ebay for half that price - certainly looks good for the very modest amount of outlay and - as Larry Taylor generally plays Fenders - a pretty good endorsement http://www.ebay.com/...em=170701174381
