1. I haven't really listened to his Invaders of the heart and beyond output. but Metal Box (PIL) contains some wonderful bass lines, especialy Careering. And who doesn't get a shiver from the opening bass riff to Public Image? Classic. Easily as good as the voted #1 bass riff, Stranglers' Peaches. Seems like a nice oddball too
2. Following recent issues featuring BurritoBass and Dood, SiBob graces the player's interview section with his lovely (but unplugged-in!) vintage Jazz bass. Some wise words uttered too. Heaven forfen they ever ask me - "so Clarky, how do you approach bass playing?" "Ermm, I play the root notes and occasionally, when I try to be a jazz musician, a fifth" "Errr, thank you, and who are your favourite bass players" "Jamerson, LaFaro and Laeticia Casta" etc
3. Thanks for the offer Dave. Hopefully with me tomorrow though as its Amazon 'guaranteed'
4. Gosh thats nice - a real JJ Burnel/Roger Waters! And being early 70s, presumably nice weigh too?
5. Thanks chaps, looks like I made the right choice! The H2 should be with me on Friday
6. I reckon that may sell at that price, helped by the fact the wood facing is highly unusual (not really my thing but I can see why you would think it pretty). The Bass Gallery sold a vaguely similar pale olive wood faced Mk1 recently that was listed at £3500 and also has an attractive red stained Mk1 on stock at £3500. My more ordinary walnut/ebony Mk 1 fretless on the other hand had 60 watchers on eBay and no bids at £2700, sigh ....
7. Ignoring my acoustic/DB stuff, I have three fretted basses I want to keep and a Wal fretless I will sell when the market recovers. Those three fretted basses are each lovely in different ways (a YOB Precision, a replica early-50s Precision and Wes Steed's 'Herbie Flowers' inspired Jazz). Despite being an avowed P man, I am enjoying the Herbie bass the most recently (could be my never-fully-recovered left hand finds the narrower neck width less of a strain). I cycle between each of them several times a week. Between them they cost less than a decent motorbike so I have no guilt at all, even if logically I do not need them all. Besides if I totted up what the Mrs spends on handbags and shoes ....
8. Thanks Loz, I am relying on it being technogumbie-proof as I am a numpty with electronics!!!!
9.
If my bass playing got to the heady heights of a solid No2 I would be happy!
If you are having problems with a solid No2, I suggest you see your doc
10. Thanks Simon - will check them out Edit: the H2 looks good (and Happy Jack recorded something for me using one the other day) so i have ordered one. Gracias!
11. Rattlin Bone are rehearsing up some new songs on Sunday and it would be great if I could record them and send them on as mp3's to the rest of the band (would help me practising between rehearsals too). Does anyone have a recommendation for a compact, relatively cheap, technocretin-friendly recording device for use at rehearsals/gigs? Cheers in advance PS, I did have one (Roland I think) that I got off BassChat's yorick (Nige) a year or two back but that was 'borrowed' by the guitarist in my old band and never seen again
12. There's a Rick 4001 on the album cover in its stand
13. Cool, thanks gents. I realise I just added to your list of stuff-to-do
14.
I'm 7,000 up on you
and I'm about 5,000 FS posts up on you Wayne!
15. I wanted to add the next Rattlin Bone gig to the calendar but cannot see the button for this anywhere? In a similar vein, are member's birthdays no longer highlighted anywhere? All help gratefully received, cheers!
16. Talent wise has to be 18,352 - hopefully much higher enthusiasm-wise
17. This will be a shrunken down version, maybe 7 of us (down from 14!), at the venue's request Looks like we will be performing two 45 minute sets
18.
Is there still a "view new posts" function? I can't seem to find it
Click on View New COntent (top right) then set the options on left as Items you have not read, then if nothing comes up of interest click Mark Community Read at bottom and clear all
19.
Now look at this, http://www.tcellisgu...ss_Repairs.html
Good grief, Lemmy dishes some abuse out to his basses! There was a time (about 4-5 years ago) when you could pick up a Lemmy Edition Rick for not quite the silly money they are changing hands for now - a few thousand rather than collector mega-bucks
20. Sorry, probably been answered but haven't got time to read 10 plus pages - how does one search within a sub forum, eg For sale basses. If I wanted to, say, search for "fretless" with the old site I would just type at the bottom of the FS Basses page and hey presto - now I cannot see any such option?
21. I have played this bass and it's absolutely lovely. Sorry you isn't get on with it Nige but it will make someone very happy indeed.
22. Its clearly not the right time to be selling this bass as I've had little real interest and a few lowball offers. I played it again this evening and its a cracking fretless. Although I could do with the money, I am withdrawing it from sale and will enjoy it for the time being. Will reconsider at a later date
