1. If you could meet me in London, I would do it for £460. Thats £145 (24%) less than buying new (once you add in costs of delivery and custom cover)
2. Thanks moonbassalpha but TBH I would prefer one of the new lighter-ply ones with the vintage grill cloth. In fact I have potentially been offered a nearly-new vintage-style Compact by PM. That being the case I've done my sums and could drop a bit further on price - £475 incl post. Interested anyone?
3. Thinking on, If you were to order one from Alex, it would be £550 plus £25 post and the custom cover would be about £30 extra, for a total new cost of £605 If I were to price at £500 posted (within UK) I would be taking a £105 hit and you would be saving the same amount for a pristine, barely used, as new cab. Thats the best I can do. Thats probably not enough of a bargain to tempt anyone so it remains up for a trade
4. Trouble is, if I put a price up, it will have to be a lot less than I paid only a couple of months ago because thats the way the market is. Truth is this speaker is barely run in, I've only used it for perhaps 10 hours tops as my current band requires me only to play DB. Its basically about as new as you could wish for but I would have to take a big hit money-wise. So for now its up as a trade ...
5.
Does'nt the Midget have a variable tweeter?
Yep, you can turn it up, down and off if you like. But there's no point having one if (in my case) its permanently switched off!
6. Nice one Gaf! Muchos gracias and all that
7. I have a roughly two-month old Barefaced Midget T (new cost £550) which I got for doubling between electric and DB and has only seen use at home and a couple of rehearsals. Its in pristine nick and I have acquired a custom-made padded cover off eBay (Roqsolid I think, can't remember, cost c£30) I prefer my Wizzy 12 cab for my DB so would prefer something a bit more RAWK and old school for my electric bass, with a 15" speaker and without a tweeter. So is there a Barefaced fan out there with a Compact (preferably in the vintage cloth livery) who fancies a swap? Weighs just 22 pounds. Full specs here: http://barefacedbass.com/product-range/midget.htm Mine looks just like the one in gafbass02's pictures below
8.
I'll take it! :-)
Good stuff, I'll drop you a PM
9. Nice job! I like the imitation clay dots on the neck - never understand why Fender '62 vintage reissues (and Nash copies too) use white plastic dots
10. Another sale of DB strings to John! As before, friendly comms and paid super-fast
11.
Bugger, pulled the trigger on one about two weeks ago! I'd have had this in a shot, mine sounds great. Bump for a nice mag pickup.
That's unfortunate timing! Thanks for the bump and it helps that another BCer recommends this pickup How about £80 posted anyone?
12. Bump. As I have swapped over the strings on my DB back to Silver Slaps, I will throw in the used Presto strings (in good condition) with these brand new ones for free - so that's a new set of Presto lights and a lightly used set for £80.
13. Bump for offers. Also in case anyone hasn't had the pleasure of the video clip in my first post above!
14.
slap ban? Wachootalkin'boutWillis?
Nigel Clutterbuck is banned from the event and anyone using the edge of their thumb to make a loud percussive noise on a bass guitar will either have to pay vast sums of money into a charity jam jar or face being rolled in marmite and being left out in the sun to dry

19.
Is there any real interest in a chat about recording (tracking/mixing/mastering)??? Generally rather than necessarily entirely bass specific. I'd prefer to do something more of an open forum to answer questions rather than a massive lecture, which will no doubt be as tedious as the compressor one was. Its a massive subject though, so if anyone has something they really want to know about it let me know and I may be able to prepare a bit...
Sounds like a good idea 51m0n. BTW, your compressor talk was possibly the least tedious talk about compression there has ever been. A request though - please don't pluck me out of the audience and make me play 'The magnificant seven' for 10 minutes again or I will be lynched
20. I'll put me down even though I can't be sure as yet 01. 21. If I am not in some far-flung country I would love to attend again (unfortunately its the time of year my Bank sends people like me all over the place, so I can't be certain). If I can attend I will probably bring my Ampeg Baby Bass and Acoustic Image/Euphonic Audio rig, as that will be a bit different.
22. This link was posted in the "Bass tracks to listen to before you die" thread. Never having heard John Martyn before (I had dismissed him as 'just a folk guitarist' without ever listening) I was completely blown away by the beauty of the song and the utterly sublime DB playing by Danny Thompson. Prompted by several other BC'ers links I have listened to several more songs overnight and this morning and done my usual OCD googling. I am really enjoying what I hear - particularly the 70s acoustic stuff (not so wild about his more electric later stuff). So thank you to BC for expanding my musical horizons yet again
23.
To be fair, I imagine there's a bit of demand for a P with blocks. Should Fender ignore it?
True but wouldn't they look so much better with a rosewood-n-blocks board than maple?
24.
Nige, do you mind if I post this on my FB page?
I already did Steve ... and Nige did not hunt me down like a dog!
25. Details added above of a half-hour acoustic set that I will also be playing at the Upton Blues festival, including some old blues and jive classics (Louis Prima, Taj Mahal), some newer songs (Tom Waits) and some of Bo's own compositions
