Really? I'm very surprised at that. Did they give a reason?
The reply went along the lines of "just looked up your instrument on the web. Very beautiful. Unfortunately we cannot help you with a case for this" Ho hum, I thought that was the point of a custom builder. never mind, I am sure there are others. I did find one in North America which wanted $950 for the case plus $1135 for shipping! Er thanks but no thanks
I have too many and am aiming to end up with 4: Fretless (Wal Mk1) Precision (YOB '63) Jazz ('Herbie Flowers' replica) 5-string P or J Am trying to sell my fretted Wal (which I haven't gelled with, unlike my fretless Wal) and will try to sell my seafoam green Bacchus '62 Jazz when I can persuade Mrs C that "a lovely colour" is not a good enough reason to hang on to a bass! Of course this list doesn't include my acoustic instruments (Eko bass, Zeller DB, Eminence EUB)!!!!
Update: both basses sold pending, so now down to my targeted 4 Fretless (Wal Mk1) Precision (YOB Fender '63P) Jazz (Steed 'Herbie Flowers' Jazz replica) 5-string P (Alleva-Coppollo KBP5) ....except I accidentally bought two DBs yesterday and only sold 1, oops, so up to 3 DBs (3/4, Baby Bass and Kolstein Travel bass)

Kenny Passarelli first to use fretless bass?
Clarky replied to Annoying Twit's topic in General Discussion
I see he has put the frets back in his bass - intonation problems maybe? -
Have a look at this lot. They can make bespoke stuff. Not sure on prices. http://www.packhorse.co.uk/index.htm
Thanks Nigel!

Thanks chaps, unfortunately Flightcase Warehouse only seem to do Stagg violin cases for string instruments. I did google as well but noone outside the US specifically mentions a case for a Baby Bass so i guess I'm looking for a recommendation from someone who has had a custom case made for their double bass or cello?
-
Having just picked up one of these beauties, I would like to investigate getting a proper fibreglass flight case for it as the odds are Rattlin Bone's Portugal tour will not be our only ever overseas excursion. The Baby bass has a good, sturdy gig case which is perfectly adequate for schlepping around the UK but probably wouldn't withstand being flung by baggage handlers into an aircarft cargo bay. BTW, I contacted Hiscox but they don't do one off custom orders. Does anyone have any suggestions who I might contact? Cheers Clarky
How much is the Shuker nowadays?
Used to be £1500-1600 but I bet they have gone up in past year (due to rising raw material costs)

Hi mate, have a chat with Marky L who owns my old one or Deep Thought, the other BC owner of a JJB (I think) My recollection is: very high quality hardware, wide but slim (comfy) neck, unfinished maple board (not heavily lacquered, which you may or may not prefer), reasonable weight (c.9 pounds), very punchy (custom wound) P pickup, beautifully put together, and with a gloriously thick gloss black coat of paint Basically like a US Fender but better

If you don't have a problem with buying a used bass you will get a hell of a lot for that sort of money. On the BassChat for sale forum there are loads of great basses for sub £600, eg, there's a Silver US Stingray for £580, several G&L's for way within your budget etc. We have Feedback on the site to give you extra comfort about the seller too.

Bet that rig rocks! Nice one
Cheers I reckon five or so BC commissions and Clarky gets a free cabinet
Don't be silly! We Brits often hide our lights under a bushel so I thought I'd, errr, uncover your bushel or light or whatever Nice work Chris
But you've never seen Esperanza and I in the same place at the same time, have you? I may well be Esperanza's beard - her covert alter ego, here to perpetuate the myth that is - Esperanza!!!! Or I may have had very little sleep last night.
She doesn't have a moustache Gareth (let alone a beard) I would like to drink some of what you had last night though! -
Having accidentally clicked on the profile, rather than a post, by BC'er Roland Rock, I decided to be nosey and check out the gear he listed. RR (aka Chris) is a cabinet maker and has created an Art Deco-style wooden surround for his valve amp. Its undoubtedly too heavy for my glass back but I think this is really rather nice, hence thought I'd share with the forum. Nice one Chris http://www.cbcabinetmaker.com/18.htm
