You're right, I just googled it too and my kitchen floor is second pic - spooky.
Here's my cooker:
Actually, I've been giving serious thought to selling my Decade - might you be interested?
That Lakland is cooking
There's now a ton of Class D amps. I am waiting on getting a new Aguilar Tonehammer TH500 from BassGear which looks to suit my needs best, although - as I've said in other threads - I would dearly love an integrated lightweight Sansamp/Class D head (can't understand why Tech 21 haven't gone down this route ....)
It amazes me how the various Class D heads differ. For example, Markbass have a pretty warm sound but they're (in relative terms) starting to look big and they don't have a headphone socket. The SWR Headlite is a nifty little package but tries too hard to be clever (too many controls IMHO) and the dial settings are very hard to see. The Shuttle is quite marmite according to reviews I've seen, with some criticising the overdrive tone and the (over?) bright LEDs etc etc ...
So if you were spec'ing out a Class D amp from scratch, what key features would you include .... and exclude?
I think this is the one http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Musicman-Stingray-5-...=item3f0a3b5ded
The only problem Barrie (setting aside the small issue of money!) is that a '59 Precision will likely have a very chunky neck (1.75 width at the nut) and IIRC you don't get on with the thicker P-bass necks - your '72 will have a B (intermediate width) neck (1.625)
My real concern is that I now know it IS possible to get a YOB J bass - unfortunately I only know of one ever being made so that's going to be a bit tough to get hold of, lol.
Mind you, I've seen a '59 P in see through blonde and an anodised guard that still has its original hang tags. wonder how much that is valued at. . .
Herbie Flowers' J is a '59 - I doubt you can prise that from his fingers though
I will of course sell you my Herbie Flowers replica J for a suitably enormous sum
Guitar Guitar has them in stock but I am waiting for Phil at BassGear to get them in (I guess around the end of this month as they are making them for him this week)
Where are you based?
OP says "I'd much prefer for it to be collected from me in Sheffield. Alternatively, I could drop off in say Central London and pay a visit to a friend but I'd need time to work that out." Think your answer is there!
Thats a beautiful (and great sounding) bass and, at just over 2k sterling, a very good price for a Mk1 fretless in a desirable wood top - I recently paid (ahem) rather more for my Mk 1 fretless I expect this one to fly out the door!
Hi - did you end up selling this?
You'll be lucky - the listing was nearly a year ago and he hasn't been on BassChat in over a month!
Only cool people think they look good, fact.
Which confirms what my kids say - which is that I am deeply uncool
Alex contacted me recently to see if I would find a top hat useful as an option on a Midget T, so its clearly something he is thinking about. Best drop him a PM methinks
How big a band will you be taking, Clarky?
We will be down drums, guitar, one or two brass and one or two vox, so probably about 9 of us onstage (or offstage!) I guess
Not do-able this time, I'm afraid.
That's the day of my mother's interment (the day after her cremation) and I will be on strictly family duties throughout the period.
Sorry to hear that Jack Condolences to you and your family
