1. Fantastic Gareth - I had a change of genre last year (just like you) and its been the making of me. Hope the next gig is even better
 2.

That is drop dead gorgeous - whose is it? A BC'er?
 3. The Ampeg AEB-1 s are well cool in my eyes, not sure I'd like to play one but they look wonderfully retro
 4. I vote for the unlined too. When playing standing you will only see the dots on the side of the neck and, IMHO, the lines can also encourage sloppy intonation (parallax means you think you're playing on the line when sometimes you aren't), plus unlined looks so cool!

 6. Oops should have guessed! Well consider the OP an inadvertent bump!
 7. Looks very classy with figured walnut top, Wal-type vibe, albeit different body shape http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Status-Graphite-S1-C...d#ht_500wt_1156
 8. I reckon Danny Thompson would be very entertaining and teach me more about DB in an hour than a year of playing on my own For electric bass, would have to be Lemmy! Funniest bass player ever
 9. Beautiful bass Chris - good luck with the sale mate. Shall I PM Jase or will you? Kidding! Gorgeous sunburst
 10. Here is a youtube clip of Mariza, following my previous post. Its not the song I was referring to (which was on at the end of the show and much more brooding) but give you an idea
 11. I watched it last night - was generally unimpressed with the fare but the Portuguese singer Mariza and her band were mesmerising! Was that a mandolin? Sounded incredible and was paired with a very emotional vocal performance. I am going to check her music out. Said it before but that is one of the reasons I think this show is still valid - every so often a band comes on I have never heard of and it makes me go 'wow'
 12. I bought this tiny-teeny amp only a week or two ago from Born2BMild (aka Phil of BassGear) to use as a stand-in power amp for use with my DB preamp. Unfortunately, while its a great little rock amp for electric bass, it colours the sound too much to work well with a DB. And I tracked down a Mesa Walkabout to cover my rock needs (should never have sold my old one). The Headlite comes with the rather nice gig bag and is in good rather than great condition (scratches underneath from being rackmounted I guess; the front panel though is flawless). I paid £450 and would like to get this back or close enough. Its beefy enough on its own (400W) and would also be a great gig-bag backup amp too. Anyone? BTW, new these are £599 at BassDirect, so this is a 25% saving on new. Would also trade against an Acoustic Image Focus SA power amp, although these are rare as hen's teeth so its an ultra-long shot. 13. Thanks gents. Actually a BC'er local to me has proposed his drummer (who I have met and seems like a lovely guy, and has even seen Rattlin Bone live) so I will have a chat with him first
 14.
Any more ideas on this? Has anyone used the Promethean 1x10 with a drummer?
PM wateroftyne, I seem to recall he has done gigs with a drummer and a Promethean
 15.
Does that mean you owe me £600 now, or do I simply owe it to myself?
Nice try, alter ego
 16.
has anybody seen them in the same room together?
Damn, secret's out. I am in fact Beedster wearing a long grey wig and a prosthetic spare tyre around the waist
 17.
Do you know, when I'm feeling a bit down in the dumps, I follow Clarky's and Beedster's for sale ads. The pair of them are class acts IMO
We just ping things back and forth to each other in the guise of FS ads when we get bored
 18.
And as a the result of this purchase and a few other 'things', keep yours eyes open for a lovely mojo'd 3tsb '65 Precision that'll be on the market soon Jase.....
Oh dear. How you gonna hide that one from Mrs Legion and her horses, Jase?
 19.
Although Clarky's recent activity might seem quite excessive
Recent? I wasn't aware I had ever been anything other than excessive from the moment I joined this goddamn GAS-inducing forum
 20.
Don't do it Rob! it's a seedy, dirty world - I'm only just recovering after months of counselling. I'm terrified that at any moment another tempting PM will come my way with some new "trade" or other
PM'd
 21.
Damn you and your ever-changing gear needs Clarky! Right mate, if you're prepared for me to juggle a few things over a couple of days, and as this is without doubt the best piece of DB amplification kit I've used, can you put my name on it and we'll sort things over the phone or PM at the weekend? If you get a better offer in the meantime though, please feel free to take it C PS we might as well accept the reality of the situation and simply share all our gear mate
lol! This is now on hold for the Beedster!
 22. Bump whilst pointing out the payment plan option mentioned a few posts above
 23.
If all the band who won't or can't do this gig post a reply, this thread could run and run
Metallica are apparently busy that night too
 24. My lot, Rattlin Bone (see link in my sig), are a 14-piece "voodoo swamp blues" outfit with an album out and decent airplay. We have one major problem which is that we are geographically diverse (guitarist lives in Falkirk, rest of band divided between London and Bognor Regis/ South Coast) which means we only tend to play irregular, biggish gigs which are fairly well paying (divide the money between 14 people with travel expenses and it doesn't go a long way) and we barely ever rehearse, or our rehearsals are missing key people. We want to play a bunch of regular-ish, smaller gigs in London (12 Bar, Water Rats etc) as a 'diet' version of Rattlin Bone with maybe 6-8 of us plus backing tapes, as the front man, DB player (me!), and main brass people are all in London. Unfortunately our great drummer, who lives in Chichester on the South Coast, is not up for this so I wondered if anyone knows of a reliable, decent drummer that would fancy playing maybe 6 or 8 gigs a year in London with us? The drumming is quite percussive, rarely fast and slightly out of the ordinary (not many 4/4 boom-crash songs in there!) Would appreciate any leads as we are playing the 12 Bar in June without a drummer (will have to use tapes) and have already turned down a couple of other London gigs due in part to the non-availability of our regular drummer. Here's a reminder of what we are like:
