1.
Clarky I just called them medium gauge as I always think of 45-105 as "medium", they're the Standard Gauge though, I got them after the P Bass I bought from you had them on! As for selling them, I'd prefer to trade as I don't really have enough spare cash at the minute to get a new set of strings!
Haha, this place is so incestuous! But not in a sexual way of course Was it only 9 months ago? Well if you can spot a decent set of rounds FS on BC at a good price I will happily lob £15 plus postage your way for the La Bella's on Paypal (as a gift)
  2.
Hi all! I've currently got a set of La Bella Deep Talkin' Flats on my Jazz, had them on for about 9 months but they've not had much use. They're medium gauge, 45-105, I'm looking to trade for a set of rounds, new or slightly used, I'm easy. I prefer D' Addario Pro Steels but I'll listen to whatever you've got, just looking for rounds in a similar gauge.
I just put up an Items Wanted post for these very strings! Except I don't have any rounds to trade Can I buy them off you instead mate? Edit: I am after 760FS which is Standard gauge (45-105) not medium gauge (49-109). Which ones do you have?
  3.
Ta. Was that about 6 weeks ago?
Start of last week .... but give it time, say a couple of months, and I'll come back to you!
  4.
While we're on the topic, do the 760FL set have red silks?
I could be mistaken. It has happened you know
  5.
Or, you could buy a Rob Allen Mouse 30 bass, which is very close sounding *goes all starry eyed*
A set of strings is cheaper About 100 times cheaper
  6. +1 to the above but - if you are sticking with a P bass - Rotosound Tru Bass black nylon strings come about as close as you will get
  7.
That'll be the FS which are 45-105.
Nice one! Thanks BB2000
  8.
The Barefaced Compact does seem like a good solution for a cab. Much of a waiting list, Clarky?
I was told "about a month" by Alex
  9. +1 Was hoping to make it, to see the mighty Jetsonics and also to meet your mate JC (to pester him about accordion-ness). However Mrs C has made other plans which I cannot get out of and its "Mother's Day weekend" (hmmmmm) so I do what I'm told and do not argue Break a leg matey and hope its a cracker
  10. For ultra lightweight, I suggest Barefaced (I have a Compact on order, a 15" cab weighing 26lb). For not quite so lightweight (47lb) but with 3 x 10" speakers and super high quality, how about obbm's Epifani UL310 which he has FS at £500? I had one of these once and it was superb
  11.
Dang just bought SH951 from the local store.... bump!
Sorry 'bout that! So anyone fancy one of these good quality piezo pickups at roughly a third less than new price (sorry to rub in, Baboom)?
  12. The fretless I bought yesterday has La Bella Deep Talkin flats on it. They are heavier gauge than I am used to but I found I really enjoyed being able to dig in a little harder than I would with, say, TI Flats. Does anyone know which gauge the black silk-ended ones are, Standard (45-105) or Medium (49-109)? They are not as heavy as the Jamersons and I know the light gauge ones have red silks.
  13.
I really like the position markers on that one Clarky! How's the precision hunt coming along?
Oly White 63 arrives Saturday so it's NBW ( new bass week)!
  14.
looks like you've taken it to bed already, and while Mrs C is out!
out of camera shot, it is lighting up a cigarette
  15.
I was as she was fretless & I need a fretted bass,
Fixed it for you
  16. Couple of bad flash camera shots of my newly acquired June 2004 Mach II (or according to one Wal blog, a Mach II/III hybrid) fretless with American walnut facings and mahogany core. Ebony board has useful side fret marker lines on it, like an Ibanez fretless I once owned. Weighs 9.4 pounds, balances very well on a strap, almost Jazz-like neck dimensions, and in immaculate condition. Sounds very like a DB on the bass/neck pickup with the tone rolled off (it has LaBella flats on it) which is what I need in my band, plus has a ton of other tonal options. Will be spending a couple of hours with this tonight as the Mrs on a girlie's night out and kids broke up from school today
  17. I have joined the club. just bought the Mach II fretless in the Gallery and gorgeous it is too. See my last post in my items wanted thread

Me again! Wes bought my MarkBass combo and was great to deal with again. I also got to meet him this time and he is annoyingly youthful looking (says the grey-haired old curmudgeon)
  19.
If the gig was just a bit closer to London, I'd definately come along. Hope the gig's a blast though
+1 Hope its a cracker!
  20. Said very quietly: Jas and I have bought and sold two basses to each other .... in both directions. The details are too embarrassing to mention and liable to make us the subject of derision (oi, Beedster, let those without sin etc etc!). Typically bl**dy BassChat behaviour! Suffice it to say, Jas is a star, very helpful (delivered twice to me from Suffolk), pays super-fast and an all-round good egg.
  21. I bought this from BC'er Steviedee for £100 last autumn - here's the thread http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=...3&hl=Shadow Stock pic: The sticky back tape that attaches the jack socket-securing velcro to the bridge has seen better days (but does work still) - that apart its in top nick and perfect working order with original box Selling as I upgraded to a pricier ATPflex-Electret pickup How about £80 posted? Thomann has them for £110 plus postage while the cheapest UK retailer I could see has it at £122
  22. I have sold basses to BC'ers in Finland and Italy and in each case it was £60-70 on the cheapest service I could find (via Interparcels' website)
  23.
Just listened to that MP3. Can you get bleach for your ears ?
Yep, try this:
  24.
Princess Knickers is very tempting.....
"I like to get out of my house and out of my clothes" (Princess Knickers)
