1. Then this woman must be in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's tallest! http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Wilfer-full-size-Dou...=item2a0bac79b3
2.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWAX:IT I was keeping an eye on this one, thinking it might go for less than a ton. £238. That's for a cheapo DB which sells new for £385, and has had its neck snapped clean off. Without warrantee. And scuffed up. I had a word with my regular luthier about it. Even as a favour to me, he'd charge £50 to repair that properly, so if I'd bought it I'd have ended up spending about £300 on a broken-but-repaired instrument when I could have a brand new one (with warrantee) for just £85 more. Just me, or is that barking?
Perhaps it was being used as a prop in a music video? (lets smash up the double bass ...) Agreed, barking
3. Yep, me again. Just sold Dave some strings. As ever, a pleasure
4.
Bloody hell Clarky, that's very generous!
Not compared to the pleasure I get from BassChat and the worthiness of the charities
5. Nik, I would also like to add to the raffle list an as-new Orange Crush pix 25W combo that I simply do not use. Perfect condition and function. Looks like this:
6.
I will take them if they are still available
yep, still available. Will PM you
7. I had these on my 51P bass to emulate an upright sound but the new owner of the bass didn't want them so I swapped them out. They are only a few weeks old, in very good condition with the silks largely unmolested (albeit I have cut the ends down to fit a body-through Fender scale length neatly). Straight competitors to Rotosound TruBass strings but, in my view, nicer feeling (softer, less plastick-y). Cost me £28.60 + post at Stringbusters. So how about £14 posted? PS, here's the blurb: La Bella 760 Black Nylon Tapewound Re-designed for improved tone, sustain and longevity, these stainless steel wound strings have an outer wrapping of black nylon tape. These smooth nylon tape winding makes them particularly suitable for fretless bass guitars, whilst the warm tone means they also sound good on acoustic bass guitars. Gauges 60 70 94 115
8. I was thinking $10,000 doesn't sound much (£6,000) for that provenance. For heavens sake, a new Alembic or Fodera can cost you way more than that.
9. As I have just picked up a fretless on BC, I need some funds and so am re-listing this at the reduced price of £460 posted, £450 collected to reflect the slight surface damage I inadvertently caused yesterday (Fender would charge you for that and call it Road Worn!)
10.
I wouldn't have it any other way.
Honestly! The DB forum is usually a bastion of decorum and probity and then along come Jack and WPD and suddenly its nipples and grease-guns. Pass me the smelling salts, Violet!
11. What a disappointing thread. I thought I was going to read how you played a gig with 5kg weights hanging from your testicles and wearing an inside-out studded leather outfit
12. I have withdrawn this from sale as, having been asked to check the screw holes under the covers, I managed to flake the varnish around these as I removed the screws. It's a little unsightly (see picture below) and I can hardly describe this as "near mint" in any conscience. That will teach me to get a luthier to do work on a bass rather than use my clumsy hands Never mind, it's a lovely bass to play and sounds fabulous, so I will just hang on to it. I will though put the covers back on (so my clumsiness will be entirely hidden). Apologies to Donnyboy who had been interested in the bass, I owe you a pint.
13. What a b*gger, Nick - sorry to hear that. I can confirm this is a very light, exceptionally playable P bass. Whoever snaffles this will be very happy.
14. On the Jazz, you were indeed the second owner after me! If you recall, we met off the M3 to do the deal and you felt the call of nature very strongly Feel free to return to speaking to me if your studio demands necessitate you selling your TF-alike fretless
15.
Hey Clarky, whats the Pino like? Anything special or just a run of the mill Precision?
Its a 62 reissue that's been relic'd and given a faded fiesta red over desert sand gold paint job by the Custom Shop. So it is a bit of both - a Precision but a bit special in my view. I especially love the paint job - my favourite ever on a Precision. My pics make it look more red than the reality, its quite a pink red colour in reality.
16.
I imagine that this would be an absolute beast of a bass. my second Warmoth bass had a Lollar and they are absolutely amazing. This is a great price as well. I sold my 2 tone one for £420 with no modifications plus they're not making them anymore so be prepared to see the price of these get very silly over the next couple of years
Thanks DH! The Lollar is not the stock 51 replacement, it was custom ordered by Grand Wazoo to be overwound for more beef / output. it still has that beautiful woody 51P tone though.
17. I've just come back from the pub and its fiesta red
18.
Clarky, I'll have them if they are still available. How's your hand?
All yours Dave. Thanks - hand is slowly getting there, I don't think I helped matters by doing the DB gig last weekend Will PM you
19.
Pinner is in Harrow(borough of) in Middx
Oops, at least I got the Pinner bit right! Geography was never my strong point
20. I bought these on eBay for my 51P but they arrived in the mail just as I decided to sell the bass. Cost me £21 including post from US (can't get them in UK, leastways I couldn't find them). £20 posted anyone? Here's the ebay link http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...e=STRK:MEWNX:IT
21. Zombified at the Rattlin Bone 'Halloween horror-fest' gig last weekend
22. How doo and welcome to BassChat! There's quite a few of us Londoners on the site and there's a BassBash on 27th in Guildford you might want to jump on the Honda and get along to. Meet a load of us and ogle some nice gear (and play it if you ask nicely!)
23.
Interested in the head. Where are you based?
Its says on his sig "From: Pinner", which is in Essex I think
