Thought I should update my post. Have had the scratch pad for close on 2 months now and can honestly say it is a great bass add-on. One point nobody picked up on, also great against the skin when playing naked, so smooth and warm against the skin, its velvet feel is a bit of a turn on.
Do you cuddle the bass afterwards and tell it you love it?
lovely looking thing - anyone who can source this bass rocking out clean? - every Cliff B one I find he's got effects all over it...
I played my old black Spoiler at the Punkfest last summer (without effects). Great rock bass. You can J or P type sounds out of it and a nice crunchy tone by mixing the two pickups. If you listen to the bass sound on the Black Album (eg Sandman) you will get a good approximation of what this can sound like.

Not promising ... but trying to work on Mrs Clarky What time would you be onstage???

Geezer Butler - at least in the early Sabbath days - used to play with his thumb at the end of the board

No Kidding - yes!

The above post seems perfectly reasonable in most circumstances when someone has a bass they no longer wish to own and decide to sell (I from personal choice try to pass on basses at the same as I paid or a discount to reflect wear and tear but that's my choice and my ethics system). But when the seller says he always tries to make a profit and equates that with "bettering himself" it does suggest that he bought the bass only to flip it. I would prefer eBay be the conduit for that than a community that generally looks out for it's own. Just my personal opinion.

How did it go Adam? Would have been there but for knackered back
Nice bass, just right for a punk band? I guess you should now be known as "Stanley" Clarky
I don't think this one will be used with Kismetik! That's if the band ever gigs again ( been looking for a drummer since September and no joy at all) I am proud of having used my old Alembic Spoiler at the Gosport Punkfest in August though

If I won the pools I wouldn't think twice about buying that bass - all original, priced pretty well for its vintage and sold by a reputable seller (the Gallery). And it looks the b*llocks AFAIC

Errrm, just bought this beautiful Alembic Series 1 from lozbass (these are Loz' photos, hope thats OK but I have either a rubbish camera or am just bad at taking photos). Its a fully refurbished 1982 bass that really is as good as new, and weighs only 9.2 pounds.
Met up with Clarky yesterday to hand over a rather special instrument. My only regret (apart from passing on a fantastic bass) was that we didn't have longer to talk - Clarky is a pillar of the BC community with an incredible enthusiasm for - and knowledge of - bass. He's also a fantastically accommodating and very understanding buyer. Despite a few problems at my end, the deal was concluded extremely rapidly and Clarky made the funds transfer within minutes of our telephone conversation. Utterly honest, extremely friendly and a gentleman player of our instrument. Thanks for everything! I would recommend Clarky without reservation to any buyer or seller.
I'm blushing now Loz! Just back from the football and heading off to have an hour on that rather lovely instrument

You only have one life to live (unless you believe in karma and expect to come back as a beetle or a water buffalo). Go for it I say and don't feel guilty. Its all good!

I just bought a truly stunning bass off Lawrence, aka Lozbass. An absolute gentleman to deal with. He even caught the train from Manchester to London to hand deliver it to to me .... and before my payment had cleared, which really is beyond the call of duty. His communications are second to none, as well. Absolute star!

I bought this American Vintage '62 Reissue Precision from BC'er Gareth only two months ago but have decided that I want a plain Jazz - rather than a P/J - in addition to my Fender Pino. I now have a gorgeous seafoam green Bacchus Jazz, hence I am moving this on to recoup spent funds. The black nitro finish has lots of fine surface scratches but is in excellent condition (no dings) for a 1994 bass (serial V071910). Weight-wise it comes in at 9.8 lbs. Prior to my ownership (not sure if it was done prior to Gareth) the bass had an American Vintage Reissue '62 Jazz pickup fitted, together with the copper grounding strip (painted black). The control layout is V/V/T, so you can blend the P and J tones or have only one pickup engaged. There is no case unfortunately. The pic is from Gareth's original FS post (hope that's OK Gareth?) I am asking £800 collected or meeting in London. Not keen on delivery right now as Mrs C's patience has worn this with waiting in for Interparcel for me! Note this is not for those who like skinny necks. Has the 1.75" width at the nut and is quite a handful. Wearing flatwound strings, so very retro!

Back on topic though, the proportions of the 60th anniv bass just don't look right to me. The headstock looks too big and it looks all a bit Mike Dirnt-y, which is fine if you wanna be in a Green Day trib ....
-
Yep, it was touch on the heavy side for me too - plus I bought it thinking it would be useful in my voodoo blues band due to retro looks ... and it wasn't really needed. Lovely sounding bass though with that Lollar p/u

Thats a 4000 (ie, the one without the neck pickup). Shows (as usual) that its in the fingers not the instrument! Oh, and Barry, you do not need a Rick

Just sold Jonathan a fretless Fender Jazz. Very smooth and quick transaction for which many thanks. Hope you enjoy the world of fretless!
