Hey Clarky, why don't you just bring the Alembic and kill two birds with one stone? Hahaha!!
Its OK Chris, you can tell them apart as they are different colours -

Franco just came and picked up my old Orange AD200B. A new BC'er but very friendly and a straightforward nice guy. Another addition to the list of people I have had great dealings with on BC.

This is seriously good value for money. It may be made of 'no name' parts (bar the DiMarzio pickup) but they are all very good quality and assembled with skill by Paul Rose (and the copper shielding is indeed as neat as I have ever seen on a bass). I know there's a lot of white P-bass love on BC and I really recommend this bass (as long as you can cope with a chunky 50s style P bass). £180 is a steal

South East Bass Bash Year 4, Surrey, 27th November 2010

Count me in. Will probably only bring a couple of basses. Most likely my Alembic Spoiler, as I reckon most will never have seen/played one of these, and my 72 Precision. PS thanks for the hard work setting this up Nik and the gang! -
Just my 2 cents but I think it'll be worth less in black - if you decide to refin then make sure it's a 'keeper'
Thanks Barrie, fair point. It's also not cheap to get a good re-fin and would mean I would be without the bass for two months if I used Sims.
Ah I see. I like that wood finish! Id be tempted to keep it as it is, but yep, black would be much more Tallica
I am not getting it re-finned immediately as I want to see how I get on with the bass and how I feel about the wood finish. I do like darker woods ( this is walnut) and I do already have the black Spoiler so it's not certain I will get it re-finned.
Clarky, is that Elan 5 similar to your incoming Elan?
Similar although Newsted's has upgraded electronics and is stealth black. Jazyvee's newest Alembic, on the previous page of this thread, is near identical to Newsted's and I would really like to own it (sensibly he is not selling!) My current intention is to get my incoming one re-finned in black. You can see a pic of it if you click the link on my sig.
As a newbie I just want to say that Clarky is a gentleman. I PM'd him this afternoon and offered him his price plus £50 (ie £800) if I could rush down from Brum and pick up his ad200 as I have a packed day tomorrow and am gigging tomorrow night. He pointed out to me that he had another PM just before mine asking him to put it on hold at £750 until tomorrow midday, and even though I pointed out to him that his other PM may well have something to do with the sixteen bidders who are chasing an ad200 & 410cab on ebay (which coincidentally finishes an hour or so before midday tomorrow) he affirmed that he was a man of his word and would wait for the guy tomorrow. Clarky you've cost me a fortune mate with your honourable ways I've just bought a brand new orange ad200 amp in black and an obc410 cab in black . Finally if anyone's thinking of selling a good obc115 cab could they please pm me as buying new is a bit painful. PS: all the best with your sale tomorrow and your quest for a lighter amp.
Thanks mate! Just sold the amp in a car boot sale for a grand, cool Kidding
-
Have had a couple of potential offers to collect whilst I was away from my computer this afternoon. In the interest of fairness I will deal with these in the order the PM's arrived. I am waiting to hear back from the first guy but the upshot is the amp may be 'on hold' until tomorrow lunch-time. Edit: this is indeed "on hold" until tomorrow at midday
To me, this looks like a double-neck with a 6-string and a 6-string. The bridges are clearly different, and the fboards are made from different woods, but other than that, I can't see what distinguishes the two halves. They both appear to be fretted. Anyone know?
One has a bigger penis
In this month's BGM there's a photo of SC in front a load of his Alembic basses, and quite frankly they are hideous - particularly the flying V!
+1. That is absolutely revolting. It looks like two pointy paddles have been glued together and then covered in expensive top laminates. How can SC look at that and not think euuurrrgghhh!
